I loved this video, thanks for sharing! I love vintage style. I wish i was born in that time. And it's coming back, at least in woman fashion. Too bad for men clothes it's still baby steps.
I have seen several of your Imperial Lap-Front Collar videos, which are fantastic. I have always wanted to obtain one for my detachable collar shirts, but they are extremely rare 'in the wild' as it were (even on eBay). Do you have a pattern that you could share so that we gents out here in YouTube land might take a crack at a proper 1899 Poke Collar ? I have a 17.5" neck so it's hard for me to find starched or celluloid collars in my own size (14" - 16" collars being the vast majority).
@SardoniqueRictus They are indeed, very rare. I make these from white plastic, and have made quite a few for several men interested in this vintage style.
Your videos are very interesting. I love vintage style. What? No wing-collars? Wing collars are awesome. I wish I had detatchable-collar shirts so I could wear wing-collars. But no such luck. I love the braces (suspenders) in this video. Very nice. The club and wing collars look a lot more comfortable than what you're wearing there, though. What's the white frontpiece you have over the shirt between your braces? I never knew what those were called.
@Shangas The "front piece" is the stiff bib portion integral to the shirt. It consists of extra interfacing to make it thicker than the rest of the shirt to absorb copious amounts of starch in order to be as stiff as cardboard, producing an ultra-smooth, glossy, wrinkle-free appearance. Attachable "dickie's or false fronts were used by the poorer classes to "dress up" an old shirt, but a proper "gentleman" would never have stooped to such an item.
