  • Nice vid mate. Here's and idea for fun. As the bamboo tips are a bit curved insert two back to back in an arrow. You would get something like a four blade magnus. Anyways i'm definitely gonna try it. cheers

  • @mdcosta21

Not a bad idear mate. You should film it and post it. Could be your first video.

If you do....send me a link.

    Rob.

  • i have always wanted to get into archery, i think im going to look up our laws since im a city dweller, something more fascinating about archery then firearms.

love hear an aussie accent on youtube as well, keep it up, subbed for the future

  • @danske91

You shouldnt have any issues. We are in QLD and as long as you have an enclosed area in your yard to practise in your fine. With regards to hunting...well...like with guns you must have permission of the land owner to hunt on their land. But you should still check on that mate. Dont take my word for it.

  • well done guys.Thank u very much, helps me out alot.not very much money here.i was wondering if that would work.

  • @troycollins80

    No worries mate.

    Glad to help.

    Rob.

  • very nice. just a thought you could ask your mate for some serving string (bow string/single strand) and whip this on the the bamboo tip and the shaft with a coating of pva for belt and braces. nice work mate ! and a nice bow your mate has to! i'm looking for a piece of oak/elm to make my own english long bow.

    thanks for the vid

    stay safe pip

  • @PiPphiltitley

    Thx mate.

If you do make that bow....you should film it for us to see.

    Rob.

  • @RDPproject all good mate! will have to think about the vid1 nice thought though.. nice one!

    stay safe pip

  • That's just awsome Rob, I only have carriso (river cane) but it may be similar since the pai pai indians of Souther California/Northern Mexico use it for arrows. I would most certainly use it in the brush if needed. Thanks

  • @EDINBURGSTAR

You should give it a try Joe. Dont forget to film it for us.... :-)

  • @RDPproject in Australian the aborginies dont have antler,to knap with what did they use?

  • @5tonyvvvv

I do know they used wooden tips that were sharpened

and hardened in the hot ash of camp fires. What else...im not sure about.

  • @RDPproject was that hard enough to kill and pierce a kangaroo hide?..they have a tougher hide than deer.

  • @5tonyvvvv

    I dont know.

They have been here for 30,000 years so they must be doing something right.

  • Great stuff. Really effective and even looks cool!

  • @raindog951

My friend still has them and they are still working.

  • Nice work!!! I really enjoyed this video. We have Carrizo cane here that would work pretty well for this. It is a relative of bamboo. Awesome stuff!!

  • @desertsurvivalist

    Thank you John.

  • oh where abouts

  • For privacy reasons I wont give out his details.

But you can see his videos on his channel called: EmperorMossy

  • Newcastle

  • Cool.

I have a friend who lives down there.

  • where abouts in Aus are u

  • Im in Brisbane mate.

    Northside.

    What about you?

  • It dont work well. It may do the trick if you were hunting but they usually break after the first hit. I use to make whole arrows out of bamboo when i was a kid.

  • They do work. We tested them and after multiple hits into hard foam targets they came out still intact. They are still intact and I still have them.

  • It will work for hunting!

  • great idea ,5/5 looks really affective , brilliant .

    malc

  • Thanks mate.

I used green bamboo. If you use dried bamboo it will also be stronger as it gets harder as it dries.

  • Great job! Did you temper the bamboo with heat?I have read where people used bamboo knives and as you said it is sharp. Be a great small game point, I bet it would even do the American white tailed deer. 5/5

  • No this was just air dried. It was only cut about a week ago. So its still quite green. It should get harder as it dries fully.

  • Great video! My only problem is that bamboo doesn't grow around here. Have you tried using antler tips yet? 5/5

  • The small amount of Antler that I do have I keep for my knife makeing.
