When I hear this song I'm immediately back in a sweltering Chicago summer in my folks 72 Chevy Caprice, w./ no AC, listening to this song being played over and over again on AM radio. They must have played this song literally every 1/2 hour on WLS, the year of which I am unsure. Suffice it to say, I got a good dose that summer of how good I had it, and what a spoiled little punk I was.

I Would have loved Elvis to cover this (and he would have if he'd been alive)...hang on??? wasn't he alive in this period. he died august 77 and Ray wrote this in 1971 (or thereabouts).  did mr Presley record this???

It was the summer of 1972 my memories are nearly a carbon copy of yours,I graduated High School in Buffalo N.Y.in 72 , and remember this song on the AM radio of my parents "1969" Chevy Caprice. P.S.
