  • Interesting how Ahab starts to command respect here when he makes the 'improvised compass.' We may not agree with his actions, but as an English Major I will say that he commands reader respect and admiration because he's running 'unopposed.'

Whenever someone complains, he 'buys the crew' by raising the reward money. So the crew becomes as fixated as Ahab is.

With supreme irony, Ahab dies because of his own fixations. But MD kills everyone else because they were bought by Ahab.

  • @eternalhalloween1 Guilt by association. Thanks for watching and commenting on my Moby Dick videos!

  • @XOtericate No problem. As an English Major, it was a pleasure.

If someone wants to complain about Ahab, he would have to complain about the whole crew for being bought so easily. It's also interesting that towards the end, he talks more freely with the crew and shows concern about a missing man.

I don't agree with his actions, but he is the driving force in this book, and with his character 'running unopposed,' it's inevitable that we're probably going to like and admire him a bit.

  • Thanks for uploading this!

My grandfather is Walter Hucker, who produced this, so it was definitely interesting to watch

  • @hmacw You're grandfather and everyone concerned did a great job animating this classic! Thanks for commening!
