The threat of problems in 2012 is real but it's not from some mysterious planet. The problem is that our orbit will be crossing path with the orbit of a comet. Whether we actually get there at the same time or not is unsure, but the chances are great. It may miss us by distances less than here to the moon or it could be several AU. No one really knows.
And you're officially retarded. Comets do indeed follow paths. Many of them have70+ year orbital periods but they do have orbits. There may be some weird planet out there. It's probably just a large satelite located in the ort cloud like Pluto. There isnt enough movement though for anything out there to reach us in the 4 years left till 2012. Actually I did take an astronomy class this semester as it's my General Studies requirement for physics. And astroids and comets are not the same thing. Comets are made primarily of ice while asteroids are typically rocky material left over from collisions of satelites or star deaths. And you need to realize how perfect it would have to be for this orbiting comet to actually hit us. it's the debris following the comet would be what we need to worry about. It just depends on how close we get.
