No one said you can't dislike things, it's the manner in which you do it that makes people not like you. i see somebody has some good taste in music. :) i've been playing bass for a while now, and my advice would be to just get it a little smoother. but it's good for a few months, and the smoothness will come with time- you'll have stronger fingers, and more confidence. keep it up, there are hardly any girls who play bass.

@GaryNull - Well, when you're eleven and want to learn, it's impossible to start with the hard stuff. Most people start easy; that's how we learn. I do not use a pick. Not right or wrong, just preference. You can see some of my newer videos and see the progression in the past 3 1/2 years since this video.

Picks are blasphemy while playing bass. Don't ever let this girl use a pick. Only hacks play bass with a pick. Yeah even for punk, and even if you want a different sound. Accquire some endurance if you want to play punk on a bass for those of you who say it. Either way, for being 11 and only playing 6 months she'll be really good if she keeps practicing.
Pick or no Pick? Who cares? Yome people play with pick, because they want an other sound. Did you ever think of this? For funk or jazz picks are not very usefull, true. but if you want a harder, more metallic sound, you should use a pick. <.< i play without pick, too. it#s not worng to use one, so if you like it, do it.
Well, I can't think of 50 bass players right now, but all of the following dont play with a pick:
Jaco Pastorius, Victor Wooten, Stanley Clarke, Jonas Hellborg, Jimmy Johnson, Flea, Rufus Philpot, John Myung, Gary Willis, Stuart Hamm, Bunny Brunel, Tetsuo Sakurai, John Patitucci, Les Claypool, Tony Levin, Ric Fierabracci... They all play with fingers, and they are all great bass players. Look up some vids if you dont know them
It is NOT harder playing with fingers than with a pick. Any bass player who dares calling himself that knows it is better with fingers (Jaco Pastorius, Stanley Clarke, Jonas Hellborg, John Myung, Victor Wooten)
@aVerKePedo Speaking as a bass player, I don't particularly enjoy playing with a pick, but there are times when using a pick is the only way to get a certain tone. (Yes's "Roundabout" immediately comes to mind.) I prefer playing without a pick, but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do to achieve different tones, and I've found it's best to be proficient at playing both with and without a pick. It pays to be prepared.
I belive its more of a personal preference if you want to play with a pick or not, personaly i dont use a pick because i get those nasty scraping noises.
If Roger Waters can play bass, anyone can. Seriously though, great job. However, there is something very odd about seeing a kid successfully play the songs of our music legends. It kinda cheapens the whole aspect of it. I mean, you spend your entire life idolizing every facet of a musicians talent and only to see a kid play the same thing. Its weird...that all. Not taking nothing away here..but its strange.

When I had my first gig(with my instructor) I had been playing for about 6 months and I was 12, now im 13. I might have another gig with my grandfather soon.

yeah your doing good but try to keep your fret hand static and reach for notes with your fingers not that pointer finger pick up and move.You are doing it at times, but try all the time. It will fluid your playing, make your fingers more dexterous, and also be using good bass technique.

Picks are blasphemy while playing bass. Don't ever let this girl use a pick. Only hacks play bass with a pick. Yeah even for punk, and even if you want a different sound. Accquire some endurance if you want to play punk on a bass for those of you who say it. Either way, for being 11 and only playing 6 months she'll be really good if she keeps practicing.

Pick or no Pick? Who cares? Yome people play with pick, because they want an other sound. Did you ever think of this? For funk or jazz picks are not very usefull, true. but if you want a harder, more metallic sound, you should use a pick. <.< i play without pick, too. it#s not worng to use one, so if you like it, do it.

Well, I can't think of 50 bass players right now, but all of the following dont play with a pick:
Jaco Pastorius, Victor Wooten, Stanley Clarke, Jonas Hellborg, Jimmy Johnson, Flea, Rufus Philpot, John Myung, Gary Willis, Stuart Hamm, Bunny Brunel, Tetsuo Sakurai, John Patitucci, Les Claypool, Tony Levin, Ric Fierabracci... They all play with fingers, and they are all great bass players. Look up some vids if you dont know them

It is NOT harder playing with fingers than with a pick. Any bass player who dares calling himself that knows it is better with fingers (Jaco Pastorius, Stanley Clarke, Jonas Hellborg, John Myung, Victor Wooten)

@aVerKePedo Speaking as a bass player, I don't particularly enjoy playing with a pick, but there are times when using a pick is the only way to get a certain tone. (Yes's "Roundabout" immediately comes to mind.) I prefer playing without a pick, but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do to achieve different tones, and I've found it's best to be proficient at playing both with and without a pick. It pays to be prepared.

I belive its more of a personal preference if you want to play with a pick or not, personaly i dont use a pick because i get those nasty scraping noises.

If Roger Waters can play bass, anyone can. Seriously though, great job. However, there is something very odd about seeing a kid successfully play the songs of our music legends. It kinda cheapens the whole aspect of it. I mean, you spend your entire life idolizing every facet of a musicians talent and only to see a kid play the same thing. Its weird...that all. Not taking nothing away here..but its strange.

@ironderby your sad enough to hate on other peoples videos, and worst of all try and compete with them. It doesnt matter how you been playing and what you play, shes trying, and i tell you what shes got great technique.
Playing is about fun and love for music, not a completition, plus its easy to say yeah im better than victor wooten without a video isn't it.

Good job and i love this bass line. Butt during the verses if you just use one finger for the eigth notes it'll sound alot smoother and more like the album.

yeah your doing good but try to keep your fret hand static and reach for notes with your fingers not that pointer finger pick up and move.You are doing it at times, but try all the time. It will fluid your playing, make your fingers more dexterous, and also be using good bass technique.
