  • Great video. I'll use your tips to grow my potatoes. I can tell a few things, just from watching this, your probably ex military with that knife and that you are from Philly because of the way you pronounce water.

  • @djmopa Thanks for the input. BTW - I do have an interesting back ground. The accent is an adopted one that I learned over time, I used to have a strong accent that was very different.

  • @Kamoyaker

Your welcome sir, thanks. Btw, do you have to put them in a carton or would just a plastic container do as well?

  • @djmopa Most any container will work. I find that egg cartons work well because they stabilize moisture and break apart easy for planting with the carton parts so that I don't break roots.

  • That's a knife!!

  • @YoungAndPrepping Buy organic potatoes. In other words, I buy potatoes that are not treated with chemicals that inhibit growth. The eyes will form and sprout naturally if the get some sunlight.

  • That knife is badass. Did Sylvestor Stallon sell it to you from the Rambo vault?

  • Never did anything like that thanks for showing us Kamo

  • Love your how-to and informative vids, Kamo. Well done.

  • Okay I ran and got my fork. Let's eat Kamo.

Thanks for the planting tip, I think I will try it next weekend

  • @oregonmikes Cool, there's something about the spud that makes life better.

  • Those really rooted out nicely! I just cut and dried then put in the ground, but I haven't seen any results yet, but there's still time so I might try the egg carton method. Thanks!

  • @steen1973 I think they rooted quickly because of the more constant temp inside. We are still getting cold nights here.

  • Awsome knife!!!!!! that,s great for the eggs..the only way i could get those is by having my own chickens ;).....anyway I just might chitt them like you did. Ahahah awsome you made an after! awsome! oh and I leave the skin too!!! When you cook your veggies they allready lose some nutrients....if you take of the most nutrient filled part (the peel) there's not much left!

  • @jihadacadien Thanks, sorry you can't get the good eggs but, that's okay. I'm fortunate that there is a movement towards organic gardening and more humane farming here. I'm not fanatical about it but, I believe in trying to move towards more simple and sustainable living. You are already doing your part by growing some of your vegetables.

    Peace,

    Kamo

  • @Kamoyaker Well soon I'll have my own chicken! (one day...) and I'm the same about buying local....especially with meat. also I'm against buying China lol

  • Wow, that kind of knife for chitting? This is the way most of the old farmers do it. We make sure we have at least 2 eyes per section and a good potato can give 3 or 4 different "seeds". We planted 2 weeks ago in the green house and in the field last week.

  • @woodswoman783 Leave it to the old farmers to know a good way to do these things. Hey, I agree that it is good to have at least two eyes per section, good point, thanks for mentioning that. I'm going to try to get some greens started soon, the weather still drops into the low 40s F at night.

  • Wow ! using your combat knive to perform this task, how cool is that. I planted my spuds last week. This is a very different way to do it. I like it. Thanks Kamo.

  • @EDINBURGSTAR Yea, this is a new knife so I was anxious to put it to work. LOL. Looks like the nice weather got to your house a few weeks earlier than here but, I'll get things going in the garden soon.
