  • Nicely done! Interpretation is better than most professional productions. Develop the voice a little more and you're on your way to Broadway!

  • Nicely, nicely done :)

  • Great job fantastic acting by everyone!

  • GAY

  • this was really great! i was in guys and dolls once too, but that was 5ish years ago. You are an amazing singer and i loved the way you staggered on 'passing out the whiskey.' best Nicely Nicely i have seen so far. the only good part of ours was he brought real food. It also made me laugh a little at the end when they were lifting you to be higher whilst singing 'sit down!' once again great job. you are very talented. ^_^

  • Best version on youtube!

  • this guy has incredible stage presence. hope he's pursuing a stage career.

  • i dont like how you sang this. could be better, with a new york accent.

  • i liked it a lot you have a great voice, when i did it the cast around me wasnt that great (the leads were good cept or nathan, the rest of the cast was lack luster). you blow my singing out of the water

  • pretty good voice. Some of your rhythm was off though.

  • You were amazing Call me ;) lol jk but you are very very very talented!

  • ur amazing!!! did u go to shrewsbury high?

  • you're great, you have a wonderful voice! my school is going to be doing guys and dolls in the spring, and i really want to be nicely nicely!

  • wow your great, nice job

  • Pretty cool. It seemed like Nicely had a little difficulty with some of the higher notes, but he was on for the rest. Not a whole lot of chorus choreography though.

  • AWESOME, i wish the kid playing nicely in our musical was more like u!

  • Oh wow! I was watching this and just had this nagging feeling I recognized some of the people in the scene, read the description, I go to Central. xD

I'm actually using this song for the auditions this week for our next musical, Crazy for You.

Anyway, great job. Wish I could have actually seen it.

  • great voice! we're doing guys and dolls this year. i'm so excited!

  • i love the little cheer stunt at the end XD awesome voice man!

  • im playin nicley at the moment. and the only fault i have with this performance is that there are no level's in his voice. for example "i dreamed last night" should not be sang full voice . its all at the same level

  • nice job

  • you have a great voice and excellent stage presence. its too bad the rest of the scene isnt on the same level as you.

  • <3 Brilliant

  • amazing, well done! :)

  • Awesome. Go Tigers.

  • best variation of this song ive heard

  • wow!

Great voice! We did this last week!

    (:

  • I loved it. Your voice is awesome. <3 Great job.

  • You did an awesome on this song!!! I give you MAJOR props!

  • heyyy ur realli good in this :D

  • Good singing. But as a cast it was a rather lackluster. Nothing against your performance, but the scene as a whole is mediocre.

  • Our Nicely Nicely is played by a girl and she does an amazing job.

  • foo, youve done it best, outta all the other nicely nicelys i seen

  • Wow, you have an amazing voice! You seriously have a huge chance of being on Broadway, your so good! I played Adelaide in our school's version of Guys and Dolls :) But Anyway, AWESOME job, best voice i've EVER heard!

  • nice job..im the hot box waiter in my production at my school

  • Very well sang! I'm playing Nicely in my school's version of Guys and Dolls. I'm sure you've heard of the school, Hannah Beardsley? Anyway it was in in the District you most likely went to for grade school and middle school. As for the singing, once again, excellently performed and great choreography!

  • Actually I went to Hannah. I was in a weird zone where I went from South Elementary to Hanna to Central (Class of '05 woot).

  • Very nicely-nicely sang.:P

    Do you still perform?

  • wow your really good! nice job. :)

and you only look to be about 16 or so.

    your gonna be big.

p.s. your pretty cute too lol

  • Heh, thanks. I was 18 at the time...now I'm 22

  • I totally agree, he is very cute! Great voice, your awesome!

  • that was amazing!!! i'm very impressed

  • awesome job! my school's doing guys and dolls this year, im a hot box girl. cooool

  • you are awesome!!!!!!!!! my middle school is doing this show soon and the person playing this character wont be near as good as you!

  • We're doing this musical this year, my high school, and I can't wait till we do this number on the stage! It'll be so great.

  • haha... that was really good... you're much better than most of the people backing you up... As a chorus... yikes...

  • yes i very much agree.

  • you have a really great voice.

    definitely impressed.

    you did an amazing job.

    and youre really cute

    :]

  • You do a drunk guy a little too well xD

All in all amazing...this is the part I want really bad >.>

My School Is Doing Guys And Dolls For Our Musical This Year!! :]

  • you're soooo good!

  • That was very cute. I'm very impressed. =]

  • is the one singing named jared?????

  • Nope. Brian

  • you were fun to watch. scratchy in places and a little stiff, but it's broadway right? it's supposed to be entertaining and that's what you delivered so thumbs up! :) i'm a a broadway review and we're doing this specific production number. i'll take, from this, what i can. thanks! :D

  • cute! good actor! love your voice!!!! :D

  • Oh my gosh! amazing job! :D

  • The coat must remain on for the line "drag you under by the lapels of your checkered coat."

  • Overall, 4 star performance.

    Zero vibratto.

    but everything else was amazing.

    :D

  • GOD, I miss this show. I was Nicely, and as the shyest girl (yes, I'm a girl...we had no capable tenors) in the world, I hated this song until opening night. SO much fun to perform, and the applause...I feel like you could butcher this song, and people would still love you. Great job!

  • wow! the audience came probably expecting a high school level production. what a great surprise you must have been for them!

  • Im doing guys & dolls in school now buh we've got a weird routine that confuses the chuff outta me. its still good tho (y)

    'ox

  • that was absolutely fantastic! one of the best performances i have seen of this song. you were amazing.

  • We had the coolest choreography for this song in the show when my school did it :)

  • Fitty . . ♥

  • This was great. The sopranos were very strong at the end too, which made it sound wonderful!

  • This a man among boys. This is one of the greatest performances of this song I have ever heard. I hope this kid knows where his voice could take him. He has a truly amazing voice, this is not any ordinary gift.

  • wow ur really good

haha thats tom martin in the green tux! right? lol

  • You're an amazing singer!

  • GREAT JOB:)

  • hey! this was really good! great job!!

  • nice job! u have a great voice

  • wicked awesomee!

    you sang it very well!

  • Is this the crystal lake in Illinois?

  • Yes

  • sweet my cousins go there. actually one of them: Trevor savage does crew, idk if u no him

  • Name doesn't ring a bell...this was my senior year in '05

  • high school play? very good! he's got a really good sing voice.

  • Great job!! I love this song, and you looked like you had fun singing it. Keep up the good work!

  • You have a really good voice!

  • You are a perfect Nicely! I'm playing Lt. Brannigan, myself. It's hard because I'm usually funny. It's hard to be stern like that.

  • This was perfeccccttttt. You remind me of Brendon Urie, btw.

Bet you anything this was the best scene of the show.

  • some of you guys need to just shut the hell up. I saw this show (in cape cod) eight times in one week. you guys dont know talent when you see it. This guys got talent so go eat a hot dog or something.

dude, yer really good and you did sang this song really well.

  • Haha this is really weird, the nicely in my production put on this nasal stereotypical american voice and its really funny to hear a nicely that sounds.. normal :P

But you're really great! I love your voice :)

  • theres like...no energy...no offense to the performers, but the only person with energy is the guy singing...

  • why does everyschool skip general cartrights high C note in the end.our opening night for this was tonight actually and i had to do it.pissed off he wouldnt let me skip it.its all i worry about the whole show.lol

  • wow ur great! i was just in guys and dolls. i was in that scene!

  • Loved the video. Great job.

  • haha brian, you make me laugh.

i don't know if you remember me, lol.. i was miss adelaide w/ my cousin as sarah.

    very competitive, haha.

i watch this clip all the time.

    you amaze me.

  • wow, my school is doing this to, and i am so astonished that you could hit that b-flat towards the end. no one who is trying out can hit it. lol

  • Wow, I may do this as my private voice song at the recital later. Hopefully I can pull it off as well as you, great job!

  • wow u rock. ur way better than the tone-deaf losers at my school :\

  • how great :D yeah me and my school's doin this and i think im mimi :\

  • im nicly in our play at st.m im way better

  • And so humble too.

  • Those are big words from someone without a clip to prove it.

SiNFury, I think you did a great job!

and it doesn't matter who is better than whom. It's great that people have a love of theatre and keeping it alive. We should be more supportive and not so childish. If you honestly feel you are better, then keep it to yourself and thank God (or whoever you believe in) for blessing you with talent.

OK, I'm off the Soap Box now if anyone else needs it. :-)

  • Sorry if it was not clear, but my comments below were to (cansan1)

  • Heh, thanks for your kind words elwilliamson. I generally don't fight back on my own videos because I have people like you to back me up :P. I realize this isn't perfect, I realize there are better people...I just do this because I love to do it. It's been three years now since I performed this song and it still remains one of the songs I miss performing (even if it is out of my comfort zone as a bass).

  • asshole. y dont u prove it??

  • this is reallly good.

    im impressed

  • I still can't stop watching this!

  • Great job! you're really talented! :)

  • wow he's good

  • looked like all the extras were high, but im a huge critic- you were great

  • this kid is really good. when my theater did this show (it was a youth program) we had nicely being thrown in the air and ontop of furniture.

  • The background in this play is really good!!! Some of you may remember that I said I tried out for Nicely- Nicely Johnson last week on Tuesday. Well, today, I got the part!!!!! I'm so excited!!!

  • is the guy in the bright green suit big jule??? hes cool! i LOVE this song!!!

  • This is really good! My school is doing this show this year, my best friend got Nicely and I got the General, so I'm really excited that we get to do this scene together.

  • I Was in this....im sumwhere over on the right.

  • I just got back from my audition! I think I got the part! There was only one other kid trying out for the same part and he can't really sing. I can sing better than him but we both act really well!

  • Oh my god! I'm trying out for Nicely- Nicely Johnson tomorrow!!!

  • I'm trying out for Nicely- Nicely Johnson for my school play this Tuesday! I'm so nervous!

  • heh the whiskey part is clever =P

  • I loved this song in the show

  • im a sophmore at central now, and hubly always tells us funny stories from when you guys did this the year before i was a freshman i think..

  • I like the way you guys choreographed this!

  • this was great!

my school is doing this musical this year.

  • Yeah, me too. This is my first year in drama club and I wanted to be Nicely- Nicely- Johnson, but there's another kid that's been in drama and he's good and he's trying out for Nicely- Nicely Johnson.

  • I hope I can sing better than him! For all I know, I don't think he can sing.

  • I just nailed this part for our skewl play and this song is so fun to do kuz the whole caast just starts to get into it. nice job. i'll try to be like ur nicly kuz i don't like the fat always eating version of him

  • yeah...im a bass to, and i can do this...seriously, not much o a kicker...you made it way too popy

  • you did a this pretty well!

for some reason your performance here reminds me of some of the songs robert preston did for the music man...

    kinda strange, but great job

  • It was actually the directors idea to have me play this off as if I was pulling the whole thing out of my ass...which is pretty much what Harold Hill does in Music Man I guess.

  • Nicely Nicely is supposed to pull it out of his arse...yeah!

  • i was actually impressed, and i was surprised at that. nicely needs to develop a vibrato, the straight tone voice makes you sound way too young. check my guys and dolls clips.

  • I was 18 at the time, but the real kicker is that I'm actually a bass. I'm a lot more comfortable an octave down from this song. I really had to stretch for it, which I know was wrong, but so was casting a bass in a tenor roll. Had a lot of fun with it though.

  • Well, my school is doing this play this year, and my voice is high because we're a middle school and I'm so nervous; it's my first year in drama!

  • I'm impressed that you were able to sing while STANDING ON PEOPLE'S HANDS! I would have been shaking like a leaf!

  • dude, your voice is freaking amazing.

    love it.

  • damn nice voice man! my dad did this play when he was in highschool[he was sky mastersan] and i wanna do it.

  • great job! i'm doing this play at my school.

  • yea so I got nicely at my highschool and idk kinda nervous about the high notes in this song haha but you did it pretty well if i must say. I also heard this song makes the show.. and fugue for tinhorns is fucking weird.. but good job.. almost inspirational

  • That was great! A big round of applause for the Nicely Nicely.

  • I played Nicely Nicely when we did this play at my highschool, It was fun!!

  • I must disagree that this performance is not great... don't like the backsinging and Mr. Nicely scoops way too much and goes flat too much to be acceptable.

  • Nicely, that was great! You have a really good voice. The costumes and sets were also great.

  • Our musical at Dallastown Area Middle Sckool was better! I met the love of my life there! Jordan Heidler aka Nathan Detroit!

  • I ♥ g and g

  • Excellent, Mr. Nicely! Everybody else needed more energy, especially at the end. When we did it at my highschool we were dancing on the chairs, we kept that part with the chanting and the chick who hits the high C, and it really crescendoed to the end, like it's written. Still, you were way better than our Nicely, who could hardly hit the high notes and he's supposed to be a tenor.

  • your good

    im better =]

  • ur well good!!! :D

    keep it up x

  • bit lackluster...oomphless...half looked like they couldnt be bothered :D Lead was good

  • i agree, the lead was fabulous. i like that y'all cut out that dumb part at the end where everyone chants, it's pretty dumb - not gonna lie.

  • Love your voice!!!

  • you rock man! haha =)

  • wow...your amazing!

  • thats awsome

  • good job!

  • sharp on the fortissimos

  • amazing.!

  • can you post the curtain call by any chance, I wana see how you're school ranked the leads.

  • General Chorus, Missionaries, Crapshooters, Hotbox Girls, (Arvide, General Cartwright, Brannigan, Agatha), (Harry the Horse, Big Jule, Benny Southstreet, Nicely...Benny and Nicely get an extra bow), Nathan Detroit and Adelaide, Sky Masterson and Sarah

  • Nice set... pleasantly boring. What happened to physicality in your performance, You look fifteen years old walking around like that...stand still for doughnuts sake.

  • I agree you do have guts to put this in such a public domain, but criticism is something actors get time and again. So if you don't want to hear criticism then don't post something where over a billion people can see it. And if i could post the version i did, then believe me i would

  • Nicely (and benny) is the stupid comic foil to Sky's coolness and Nathan being a loveable rogue, you just look like a wannabe sky. Nicely isn't a deep character you can have wildly different interpretations to (ones that work anyway) You seem like a lounge singer not because of your voice, but because of your mannerisms . The sly grin and it seems like your practicaly winking at the audience half the time. Now i think these are all fair points.

  • Eh? Nicely isn't a smarmy lounge singer. It's just wrong, he's playing it as if he's trying to be Sky ( the part i think he wanted), when he is supposed to be the quirky comic relief. The chorus have no enthusiasm, the choreography was dull, and the set was pretty poor as well. I've played this part myself and seen it done by a few different actors in the West End as well, so i do have a basis for comparison here.

  • Actually I kinda wanted Nicely from the beginning. He has as many songs as Sky, and he was a fun role to play. I'm kind of confused as to how you think I came off as a lounge singer in this. Because I'm a Baritone? Why such a negative outlook on Highschool theatre? Why must people be tough guys over the internet? At least I have the guts to post up videos and stand by my work.

  • I don't have a negative outlook on high school theatre. I was nicely in a production with a youth company last year (big julie was played by a thirteen year old and he rocked like you wouldn't believe) I'm not being a tough guy, I'm just stating my opinion and i stand by it. Go see this show done professionaly and you'll get an idea for how the part should be played. Nicely isn't really a deep character that you can bring wildly different interpretations to.

  • I'm doing guys and dolls at my school in nova scotia and I'm playing benny.. I love your videos and you did a good job being nicely XD

  • ok that was freaking amazing!! i think you did better then the guy in the movie! which is totally good!! lol

  • i can't stop watchin this, it's so good! lol, keep on singing cuz your amazing.

  • this made me smile. your reallly good! =]

  • my school is doing guys and dolls this year, im Brannigan(but im a freshman, so i didnt expect to get a lead) and nicley in our cast really sucks

  • seriously i'm in love

  • you were really really good...i was so impressed i opened this expecting it to be some lame high school show but this is like amazing

  • i LOVE you!!

    you're fantastic:P

  • i was just cast as nicely in my school's production of G&D. I'm nervous for this song, because I don't have the same range as you. Great job, though!

  • The more you sing in that range, the more your voice gets used to it. It wasn't too pretty at the start of rehearsals and even that performance wasn't great, but at it was at least presentable. Just don't push it...if your voice feels tired from singing that high, give it a rest. After weeks of singing that range it should be easier

  • you're pretty dang good. maybe you could add some vibrato on the end of the longer notes. that'd be awesome.

  • Oh, I hope the person who plays nicley at my school does as good a job as you did XD

  • oOoOo so cool!! my school is about to do this and i hope who evere plays nicely can be as good as you

  • I love this song. you guys were much more in tune than my school.

  • Hey, good job. Nice voice - and most impressive that you sang and trusted those guys for a standing lift! Your energy and enthusiasm for the song is what sold it. Nicely done. (No pun intended.)

  • you're pretty good, but the overall performance was brought down by your fellow actors, the set, and the pit.

  • You're a great singer, but my school just did this and there was A LOT more energy in the scene. I think the rest of the cast could have done more, but other than that, it's still really good. Your guys' set looked pretty good too.

  • Wow, this is really good. :) You've got a lot of talent!

  • It does seem kinda rushed. I was a missionary in our play of it. I had so much fun!!

  • wow. that was incredible. your voice is absolutely amazing, a real gift, and your acting and stage prescence are great too. anyone who says your not good is just stupid or jealous!

  • You have a lovely voice.

Thank you for putting all these videos on here. I'm doing a project on Guys and Dolls, and I had to get a hold of the movie, but I couldn't. Now I have an idea of how the sets look like, and how the songs sound like (I'm in stage crew and I have to make a set design for competition). Thanks again.

  • My school is doing it too right now. I thought I'd see different versions of it. You know, great job, great acting and everything. But the song could be slower. And less...forced.

  • Wow. I'm pretty impressed. My theater group is putting on Guys and Dolls right now. We finally got this song down...Haha. Congradulations. Like I said before. I'm impressed.

  • This is really good. Better than both my schools. Nice.

  • you seem to be rushing the song...you have a nice voice though
