I'm pretty sure you just strapped a camera to your head and drove around in an attempt to impress your friends. There is nothing "typical" about the way you are riding here. You are of the .05% , mostly consisting of high school kids trying to impress their girlfriends running red lights by 5 seconds and showing no respect for pedestrian whatsoever. Nobody drives like this on a regular basis in Taipei besides you and if they did they are most likely in a wheelchair with minimal brain function
@twstar It's not Taipei. And for your information many local people in Taiwan drive like this in the rest of the country as is evidenced by the video. Wake up and smell the diesel!
@KPKonliner Well...it is clear that you are because you included Singapore in your comment, saying they are good drives and also japanese are good too. That makes you a Singaporean Japanophile
I lived in Taipei for 3 years. My wife is from Taipei. I know Taipei. The fault is entirely on the pathetic & incompentent CITY GOVERNMENT for ignoring and not enforcing sidewalk ordidinances. Its pathetic how many selfish, and selfcentered PIG HEAD buisness owners/PRIVATE propery owners blatently steal PUBLIC property (sidewalks) in Taipei. I've seen miles of PUBLIC OWNED sidewalks in Taipei County covered up by houses, porches, restaurants, food stalls...you name it.modern country my ass
The person driving is not a very good driver, you can see that the other people are driving properly, but this guy is on the wrong side of the road and nearly hitting people.
This can also come out to deceive people! I looked carefully in movie the pedestrians have not dodged what the sign exaggerates is must clash the vehicles not to respond. Therefore little brother's conclusion is he simply not in the movie. Has the mistake please to correct me. Thanks!
I wonder if this guy is still aloive I see mad stuff on the streets everyday, but riding like that is just p[lain disrespectful - especially going through those reds when people were trying to cross I shout at the Taiwanese dicks for doing that to me, but I give them some lee-way.You, on the other hand, should know better. Get that close to me, my bike/car when I am also using the road and I swear, if I catch you, it won't be an accident that puts an end to your riding.
i drive (a car) in taiwan and i'm disgusted by the mentality of many a scooter rider. why can't everyone just ride safely? i brought my japanese client to see a rehab center where they retrain people to walk and the doctor said more than half of his patients are from scooter accidents. so before you decide to ride like that, think.
You ran red lights, I saw it. Taiwan's traffic is fouled by people like you. there's nothing more important than traffic safety. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Start treating other road users with respect.
Yes, this is how people drive in Taiwan. We have no road rage. It may seem chaotic. But, in my experience, the Taiwanese are almost always gratious. I nearly collided with this grampa with four kids hanging off him 30mins. ago. We both laughed our asses off. It was his fault though.
Haha! Where do you usually drive.. there is no road rage here only because no one respects the road, just respect that its busy and you make your way through.. jerk! Or should i say poo poo head
Yep. Glad I don't live in that pathetic hell hole anymore. Look at all the dorks who walk around in the middle of the street as if they dont care about their own lives. hahaha.
You know they arnt Americans, they can manage themselves without pulling a gun on one another or having a heart attack. I think that Americans that live in their SUVs have much less concern for human life as they dont care who they they kill in their moving buildings.
After some reflection, do you think the statement that you posted is a fallacy of hasty generalization?

@wansuiclay Look again at where people walk in the streets (eg, 0:33 or 1:48). See any sidewalks? No, because sidewalks, when they exist, are blocked by parked cars & scooters. And the roadside is also often blocked - by double-parked cars (eg, 1:42). You MUST walk in the middle of the street. Sadly, Taiwanese pedestrians accept this threat to life passively. In Hong Kong people react vocally (or even violently) when threatened. Fear of public scorn tops fear of police for keeping public order.
why did you worsen the traffic?

Wow. Now I know why so many Asian drivers fail to follow rules in the US.

No, this is what it really can be like. There are many people who drive like this, especially in southern Taiwan and in smaller cities...

This video is a classic expose of the way it really is in most of Taiwan. The traffic is a mess and even the coppers dont care! We just adapt...

no offence but its "riding in taiwan"
cockster93 4 years ago
I don't think so. The title says, "Driving in Taiwan" so it can't be "riding in taiwan" like you suggest. No offense taken.
driving - the act of controlling and steering the movement of a vehicle or animal
Thanks for viewing and your comment.
