  • Yes this is a great piece thanks for keeping it alive on the net and for your addition

  • fucking beautiful!

  • I've still got this on a 7" single.

    Well done for uploading it.

  • Brilliant. Sounds like they recorded it together, but Rene recorded his verses and sent them back to David who then supplied the music.

  • I got a signed and numbered copy of the reissue cd at one of his performances circa 2005. It has nothing, armour, 2 tracks of just the spoken word portions and another new track. At david j's website it appears you can order it from him as well as learn a little bit more about the history.

  • I really like his video. Did you do all he drawings?

  • @Guedzilla yup, I did all the artwork

  • @JonTheDandy Very nice. I might be using your video as an inspiration for making a video to a song of mine in the future =)

  • great... very special for me as well, still have the 7" from decades ago. By the way, you may be interested in the CD version David put together a few years back, it has another track called The New God, which also features Rene Halkett's wonderful words and voice

  • as said on "armour" video, this is one of my top-10 singles from the 80s_

probably and one of the most precious in my collection, too ;)

anyway, thank you for posting this amazing track_

    regards_

  • Armour - watch?v=cxqcyBoQmmQ

  • I had listend to Rene Halketts "Armour" long years ago on a radio show. Until yesterday I didn't know it was Rene Halkett...Thanks to the internet/google and some text phrases I had remambered over the years I was able to find out it was him. I'm so glad that I found him here on youtube! His voice is so remarkable, with his style of recitation and the very reticent loop this makes an extraordinary experience. It's a bit sad that "armour" isn't available also...

  • I cannot believe that "no one" has commented on this piece - but then again - maybe "no one exists to comment" - so I now comment on Nothing...

The best 4AD record I ever bought - the skill of the poetry is all in the "inflection" of the lyrics - pure genius...

Now to find the B side Armour - a similar work of pure perfection

  • @hotpress69 I need to find the b-side too

  • First and great single of David J of Bauhaus with Dadaist poet René Halkett

  • nothing...
