  • Dude you kick ass! You didn't learn wrong at all. You're just doing your thing man. It's great! Nice technique and all the fills are very clean. Never stop playing.

  • fack that was gud

  • how old is your pearl set

  • Hi hat stand is dancing because it is loving your playing

  • Great job man!!

  • it's called time stand still

  • dude... you just took the tape off of the heads. just get new ones. look at em! dont disrespect your drums like that.

  • Sounds great. Don't worry about playing "wrong." I am sure you aren't worrying about if you have been playing like that for 30 years. It seems to be working for you. When I was 8 or 9, I sat at a drumset for the first time and played a beat open handed, until my dads drummer got back in from break and corrected me. I wonder how different I would play had he not corrected me. Maybe for the better.

  • That was really good Dude. Ignore all the negative posts, they are just jealous that they can't do it. Keep it up!!!

  • @nobodysfool454 you think anyone gives a shit about what you have to say? im pretty sure you know the answer to that as well as i do.

and you spelled neil wrong. go eat feces

  • Omg dude, you played it perfectly, every single hit! Congratulations

  • your drums sound perfect in this video. absolutely crisp, just perfect

  • That hi-hat wobble would get irritating to me really quickly. (I had one that did that, it was like playing a moving target).

  • do you go double pedal?

  • killer!

  • are your drums muted?

  • Very nice dude. And by the way, I have seen a couple right-handed drummers play like you do. Question, what is that little trashy sounding thing about the tamborine you're playing?

  • Dont Like Your Drums Sound but excellent drumming

  • Very good!! This song has a fantastic drummer and managed to do it just like you! Again CONGRATULATIONS!

  • Awesome Job!!

  • I was just getting ready to comment on you being left handed and playing set up right handed. When I read your comment. I've never seen that before. You obviously know what your doing. good job

  • Excellent Drumming. Perfect!!!!

  • Great job!

  • now that the duct tape is gone, time to invest in some new heads... those look like a pigeon had diahrea

  • watch the orig video,....you'e "sort" of close...

  • big deal..i could learn this song in two short years, lol..What kind of heads do you use and is that splash cymbal a china splash? Nice work dude

  • MAN YOU did play it almost right. Pauliewanna gave you props but you didn't do it as good as him. You played in sync. the distinction was that he spun the drum sticks and was accurate.

  • Sorry bro, but you haven't gotten even close to getting this right. Time Stand Still is one of my favorite Peart drumlines, I've been playing it for years. Listen more closely to what Neil is doing and keep working on it!!

  • Just to be clear, I am RIGHT handed but play open handed. Thanks for all the great comments. You guys are the best. Keep drumming!

  • @avayatrue that's what the info is for bud. not the comment section. wonderful playing

  • Nice job ! You make it look easy.

  • GREAT!!!!!!!!! Thank You for posting that. Do you have your's band live videos?

  • Im no drummer but i loved this, would love to have seen this on a bigger kit with more volume. That said, i really enjoyed this video well done mate!

  • Amazing!

  • Good job! It's great.

  • Outstanding !!!

  • You made it your own.

  • great job man, don't know shit about technic or styles but i love rush and i can say u did a HELL of a job!!!!

  • OMG! This totally kicks ass! I can only begin to imagine how many HOURS it took this drummer to master the drum line for this song.

BTW: My natural reaction at a drum set is uncrossed arms as well. At first, I thought I was left handed!

  • timing is a bit off in some places, but really well done other than that!

  • This is the Gary Chester New Breed style. If you were to give a five year old sticks this is how they would play naturally. No need to cross sticks. Nice work man!

  • ok first of all, quit criticizing the guy for the way he plays.. He's covering one of the best drummers ever and he did an amazing job, so obviously his way is working very well. I say 2 thumbs way up, great job.

  • LOL!!!.. I don't think I have seen anything like this. Your right handed and your not playing cross hand.. I am trying to follow along, but I get confused by your drumming.. But dude it kicked ass.. LMAO!!!.. Who said you have to be politically correct huh.. :)

  • nice dude

  • thank you so much brother

  • Whoa! Reaaaallyy great! Fantastic!

  • Thank you everyone for the kind comments. BTW, I'm not left-handed! I just learned "wrong". I never understood why anyone would cross their arms?!?!? ;-)

  • Actually, the style you use is called "open handed."

Don't know if you're a Dave Matthews fan, but his drummer uses the same technique.

  • foxkieran: Yes I'm a huge Carter Beauford fan, but I played "open handed" long before DMB was popular. I am self-taught and simply learned "wrong". ;-)

  • @foxkieran

so does does simon phillips of toto

  • @foxkieran also "Gas Lipstick" from HIM does as well. I don't think there is technically a right or wrong way to play drums. You play the way that makes you feel the most comfortable. I learned cross-armed, but can see the benefit of playing open armed.

  • @avayatrue

    There's nothing "wrong" on it.

    PS.: Your playing is awesome.

  • Great!

  • my favorite rush song. Fantastic job!

  • When it comes to style, in my opinion, no one can really teach you. I never had drum lessons so I hold the sticks loosely too becuase it's comfortable. And awhile back, out of curiosity i read a drum book, it turns out that I was doing everything right. I think it's all about the drummer's preference.

  • absolutely awesome dude 5 stars and we got a lefty in the house im lefty but i play righty

  • One of my favorite RUSH songs :-)

You did it well on the drums.

    Love your style :-)

  • Nice job.

I take left handed drumming a step further, my entire kit is set up reversed (snare and hats on the left side).

  • awsome

  • hahah "the scars that duct tape leaves behind"

  • can u give me spesification of your drum,if you dont mind, your hit hat sound nice, otherwise you play excellent

  • nice job. but you need to practice a little better stick control with the right hand. do you see how your hits on the snare are a little loose, problem with that style is over time, you can develop carpal tunnel syndrome faster.

    otherwise excellent job.

  • Uh...I've been playing this way for 20 years. So I'm not worried about Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or anything else. I'm very comfortable and loose when I play. But thanks for the comment!

  • have u ever developed any wrist pain? thats really weird..coz I was trained in a different style and was told about loose style of playing.

  • Thanks for the comment. Yeah, I play "open armed". No, I'm not left-handed, I'm just self-taught and learned "wrong" I suppose.

  • I'm a rush fan but have never really heard this song...awesome sound and playing though! it's really weird to see someone play a ride cymbal right next to them with their left hand.
