There was a contest for a new Union Jack Design for kicks. One flag won, and this flag was a flag of spirit, a paragon of total masculenity(spell check plz), and the epitome of the badass. It was a Union Jack... with the Gurren Lagann symbol in the middle. We kicked reason to the curb and did the impossible.
JUST WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK BRITAIN IS!?!?!?!?!?
(By the way, that flag is called the Union Flagann.)

@chrisjoneschrisjones I wish people wouldn't blame the English for this. In case you haven't noticed, "Britain" doesn't give a shit about England either - in fact, it probably cares more about Scotland and Wales in that your MPs can come to Westminster and decide what goes on in England, but not the other way 'round. Scotland, Wales and NI get free/cheap University, free prescriptions - England doesn't have a say. England wants independence from "Britain" just as much as Scotland.

The Welsh didnt have a national flag until the 1950/60's, the George's Cross represents the kingdom of England and Wales due to history! So the UK Flag is fine as it represents all 4 nations!
