Grandia 2 (PS2/DC) - Battle Vs Valmar's Core/Zera Valmar

I tried this battle without using Spellbinding Eye. A LOT more fulfilling, but still, the Core takes the cake.

One of the best RPG's ever made, once you've mastered the strategy/combat system tho there isn't much challenge, try letting other party members die before starting boss fights and do them with just Ryudo, Zera Valmar is still easy even like this hehe.

If you play through without dying and tell the guy in maregs hometown(halfway point) that you're finding it too easy, the difficulty increases, last time i played through i did this and new valmar core used day of judgement every turn, epic fight.

I think the last boss of a Grandia game should be someone that looks really puny, but EXTREMELY strong. Size doesn't always matter hence MELFICE

This boss was badass, and is pretty much the last boss too.

The first 3 time the core kick my ass, but is ok I wasn't even mad because, was an awesome fight

none of the bosses are particularly hard if you can cancel properly. Most people that play this game underestimate the power of speed, move, and act. Instead of concentrating on overpowering moves, you should worry about landing the ones you have first.

@muzakXd My favorite strategy for taking all the bosses out was getting the critical Act -4 on every enemy and Act +4 on every ally. That combined with a decent knowledge on how cancelling works make almost every boss pretty easy

yes but the problem with this strategy is you actually will end up getting hit A LOT setting this up, Whereas you could always nuke the field and concentrate on the core. quite frankly if you aren't paralyzed, you really don't have a problem

I had it about 6 years ago when I played Grandia II I recorded it using my old mp3 player and had loads of fun listening to it. Then I lost the song and when I bought the album I did not find this song in there :(

Mmh. Weird, am I the only one for whom Melfice and Valmar's Core were extremely easy? Valmar's Eye was my personal hardest, because I was a cheapo with my Magic Coins and decided to not buy Alhealer back then...

@PhbBen Valmar's Eye is only hard the second time you fight him because the eyes can't be killed. :/

Valmar's Core was easy and Roan/Elena mostly soloed it since Ryudo was paralyzed half the time and Tio was dead until I got a chance to use droplets of life. The best part about this is that I won against Valmar's Core with Ryudo having most of his SP intact, making Millenia simply the easiest boss in the game.

@PhbBen at least you know how i feel. i got all the way to the other side of the granacliffs without even knowing what special coins and magic coins were. i kept wondering why everyone kept getting their turn before me, then i looked at the special coins and said ohh....

All the bosses are easy if you level up properly, the easiest being the heart [i mean come on, why even bother] All you really have to do to make melfice easy is debuff him in the beginning to cancel out all his buffs and cancel his main attacks. other than that just flat out nuke, like everything else.

@muzakXd Well, I got to the point to where bosses buffing themselves made little difference. Being level 85 and using book skills is a pretty unstoppable combination xD

Level 85?! overkill extermination lol, i always finish around 50-60 with no problems at all. max out Tio's lotus flower and you have instant cancel on numerous targets, strength/ability power for Ryudo (sky dragon slash, flying tenseiken soul of asura! =D), Elena's droplets of life means healing is always covered and Roan, well, True Dragon Rise is cool, but sadly he's still Roan, lol.

Try this for fun, load up as much evade as you can on any character and throw on aim for counter:D

Mayby by "Critical Hit", but "Defend" is possible! I dont know my level when i was the last time battling this boss, but on the 5th time playing it, i beat this boss in a few minutes! The first time i need 20-25 min.!!!  : (

Yeah, when i was the first time battling this Eye i had also some problems. But when you destroy the little Eyes first, the rest of it should be no problem. I used "Defend" and "Critical Hit" or "Defense up" for example. But i also hated this boss on the first time!

when valmar core was beaten, zera was already weakened and terrified. that was no final battle but rather a finishing off.

you can say by listening to the songs, since this one seems encouraging while valmar cores is rather dark. so you could say that vc is the final boss (like jecht in ffx)

pss, dejame decir, q al principio no te creia, pero despues me quede con la boca abierta, cuando vi que el final era una mariposa, yo pensaba en un mounstruo con 10 cabezas casi invencible, no mentira XDD
