  • If I were walking through those woods and I didn't know what was making that sound, I'd think a rabid elk was about to trample me. LOL!

  • @GrandWagJeep All the more reason to carry a shotgun through the woods... Just don't shoot the pump jack! LOL

  • Wow, this unit must require an air compressor bigger than a pump jack unit. How much CFM and Psi is required to run this unit? What kind of compressor is powering it can we see it too? Thanks, Paul

  • I thought an air head was a ditzy blonde

  • Nice This is a first for me. Now I know more about the oil field

Thank you for the post. Were is this unit at? How deep is the well ?

  • @JEMCO2008 its in northwest pa.,the well is about 2000 feet deep

  • @0812201: You can use air in a steam cylinder, but not steam in an air cylinder. These were designed specifically to run on compressed air.

  • Not to my knowledge, the old steam engines were removed and these took their place

  • interesting... do you know where there is any more?

  • I know there are more out there but not exactly sure where

  • Great to see 1 working

  • What comapny services this type of unit? What about parts?

  • we do the servicing ourselves. We have others that are not being used anymore for parts

  • the air lines are getting old so we only pump one well at a time

  • That's amazing. I've seen lots of old pumping systems but nothing like this, at least I'm assuming it's an old design. How many wells can the air compressor operate? I have videos posted of central powers using rod lines to operate several pump jacks.

  • That video was great, good sound and long enough to really look at the unit, the air must be pretty dry to not ice up the exhuast or does the well head keep the unit warm?

  • on cold days we light fire off the gas and it goes into a piece of pipe that is around the air line under the air line to help heat it some ,but most of the time just use whatever the air temp is.

  • Kind of sounds like grandpa sleeping!! HA HA

  • in northwest pa.

  • where at? I live in Clarendon and I have a buddy who has a couple of these but none of them operate..I'd like to see it.

  • just outside of kane

  • not real sure on the depth but the wells i pump are between 1850 and 2300 ft deep

  • awesome idea, I wonder why I have never seen an air pump? how simple! the actuating triger sets the stroke length and routes the air to keep it pumping. Probably was invented for steam?

How deep of a well can it pump?

  • What does it do?

  • its an old air jack that pumps oil out of the ground
