Deathwing is smoking because he was supposed to be drawn "smoking" IE, with smoke coming out, but this miscommunication made him smoke a hookah.

This was the style of some games back in the day. Adventure games were usually animated like this. This would have been the best looking adventure game had it been released two years prior. But at the time, adventure games were losing popularity. That, combined with a lack of quality in the actual gameplay they detected, made them cancel it.

The greatest game that never was. Much like Starcraft Ghost. I still wish we were able have a game with a hottie like Nova as the star:) They just don't make enough games anymore with a bad-ass babe in a tight leather outfit. :)

They probably canceled it for the newer games.

As to a more specific reason, the animated bits look cartoonish (probably because they ARE cartoons) which would likely make the 'above age thirteen' audience less interested in it just be looking at it.

Also, most people tend not to enjoy the 'point-and-click' interactive games, (why, I still odn't know. it's little different from playing the real-time strategy games that ARE the Warcraft series) which would mean less profit than an ordinary one

Both are very grind focused. Both have pretty much an identical item system. One item for each part, each gives bonuses to damage/statistics. Hell, they've even had some overlap with the nomenclature of the magic items. EVE has similarities, but it's not as close a match between the two, in terms of implementation. The only major difference between them, tweaking aside, is the quest volume, and having all of the basic skills avaliable to the class, with the skill points as a speciality.

They both have a skill tree, both have an item system that's practically identical, that's sourced mainly from loot. Both have a heavy grinding component, that's made very palatable through the useage of guiding quest structures. They both have multiple, different classes that vary significantly from each other. They both have a comparable stat/item boosting system.

Which is also what about 95% of every MMO out there is based on.

EVE online for example has skill trees. It may not have an identical item system, but main source of income is from loot, you can get missions to get rewards (like in Diablo and WoW), you can choose between various ship types and even there you can choose what role to play (like the classes and skill set in WoW and Diablo). EVE also has a stat boosting system, but that´s only for the ship you´re piloting.

To a degree. But WoW and D2 are very close to one another. To the point where it seems that WoW is an evolution of D2, rather than a complete new game. Which is fine, because it's been brilliantly designed so far.

I didn't mean income. I meant equipment. Diablo 2 and WoW both have a random drop system, that allows you to find full plate armor on a small rat. The statistics are very similar, and have similar effects. WoW and D2 both have very pronouced class systems. It's explicit.

This game was almost finished when blizzard cancelled it. All cutscenes and dialogue was finished. All that remained was a few things here and there.

Therefore it is very likely that many beta-versions are lying around.

All we can hope is that some programmer would share it.

It is a shame if we can never see more of this game.

It is a big shame that this game never was puplished. It looked so cool. I still hope that it will be released as abandonware legally or that some programmer had saved a Beta-version of it, and gave it to the fans that do have a right to see more of the game.

Also: Blizzard made many cutscenes for this game, that never was released or puplished. I hope we atleast also could have seen them.
