  • My sister was Mrs. Stracosh in this exact performance with Heather. I've heard stories. Heather was a total stuck up drama queen.

  • @AviDoro Hell, she has the voice to back it up.

  • @WesleySlade1 She has a good voice, but not a strong one.

  • i dont remember the army scene but i do like the idea of making a high school production from funny girl... if you had the right singer that is.

  • God damn it. I was kind of hoping that she would be a little crappy, but apparently she has been immortal since the day she was born.

  • That's in my hometown!!! :) I competed against them in showchoir :)

  • that's in my hometown!! :)

  • she is really wonderful, has a great voice for the songs.

  • memories...

  • Heather Headley is fabulous.

  • She was better as a teen. She overdoes everything as an adult. This song, however, needs to be more subtle. The magic of People is the way it utterly suspends time with it's touching simplicity. She's quite good.

  • @roccoh21 Actually, my sister was in this high school performance with Heather and she told me stories. Heather was very rude and conceited and stuck up. She also had a weak voice and my sister had to give her her own mic. Had my sister been skinnier, she would have gotten this role instead of Heather, sadly. It was a toss up between the two girls. My sister has a stronger voice, but Heather was skinnier. ):

  • The film was far superior to its Broadway counterpart;

a problematic second act that left Barbra carrying most of it musically. As one critic pointed out "diminished returns".

It actually got a strange set of reviews raving Streisand, but less than enthusiastic about the show. From the Press displays of critics' quotes you'd think it got raves from all. Clever press manipulation. Don't look for a revival soon. Streisand nailed it, and unlike "Gypsy" this show's legs aren't that strong.

  • Funny Girl is a better film, mostly for cutting so many mediocre chorus numbers. But the press were out for the show before it hit NY. I worked on a NY production ages ago where Jule Styne chose the leading lady, Carole Schweid, a dead ringer for Brice but she could not sing. PAINFUL every night.

  • I had the privilege of playing in the show choir and lead jazz bands with her at this time and she was as remarkable as the videos of he portrait. I wish that someone would post the talent show video of her from this year at which she sang "I Will Always Love You" (being of the "Bodyguard" era - Bobby!?!) That little theater you see here held about 800 people and she had at least 600 in tears with goosebumps; full standing o! We all knew that night... Thanks H!

  • This is INCREDIBLE! I would've given her a standing ovation after that performance of "People"!

  • shes awesome for a high school student!!!

  • @gltfreak She is awesome, and better than most singers around right now. She is no longer in high school, she is a Broadway headliner now, she stared as Nala in Lion King, she was the star of Aida!

  • @LaineyAnime she even won the tony for Aida!!!

  • sounds so wonderful here. this footage is remarkably rare isnt it? how did you even get it?

  • she's pretty good with the role, i like how she's different from barbra. they need to revive this on broadway so there can finally be a new portrayl other than streisand's.

  • Great idea. Compare Barbra's film version with a high school junior. I'll bet "Barbra" can't sing as well as "Barbara," either.

When you're done in your backyard, come back to rational thought.

  • Wow, what a voice.

  • she must have done lion king not too long after this huh?? didnt it open in '93?

  • It opened in November of 1997

  • What a star!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You can also see her in her H.S. Show Choir. Look up Northrop Charisma 1991.

  • Comment removed

  • A shining talent already. A real privilege to see this.

  • that how a stars shines from the inside out at an early age

  • I still think she doesn't get enough credit as she deserves. This just shows her talent is pure, not all that fake talent we see in mainstream these days.

  • thats so true!!! heather is very underrated

  • She was star even then! This video gives me hope as a young performer!

  • My mouth dropped open the second I saw this!!!! I am from Fort Wayne and take so much pride that a talent like her came from here, but to see her perform in a high school production of a neighboring school!!! OMG!!!

    A MILLION THANKS!!!!!!

  • Wow! Can we be greedy and ask for more? :)

  • wow.

  • this is one of the rarest things ive seen. ever.

  • You should have known her then. She is remarkable even now, but when she was in high school, she used to listen to audio and learn the songs from tape. On top of that, she was just a great person.

  • OK...just WOW.

    WOW.

    An amazing performance.

  • What a random video...this is totally interesting!!

  • She was remarkably accomplished even then!
