I was a drummer all through school, couple years of college. Rudimentary/orchestral mostly but also played in a small rock 'n roll group. Gene Krupa was my idol; there are some good clips on YouTube - Big Noise from Winnetka is wonderful.

Yes, I like Jazz a lot, too; almost anything from 1925 until the "honking" starts in the late 1950s-early 60s.
I must admit, though, 1925-33 is my favorite "era."
And yes, Louis Armstrong is my favorite.
