This is an oldie that gets stuck in your head. I hated it back in the day, but it makes me laugh now. I am surprised that I still remember the words. Sigh... of all the things I need to remember and can't, why does it have to be this 50 year old commercial??
Yes. What you call "biscuits" we call "cookies". Biscuits over here are a type of bread - typically a salty and/or buttery flavor. Look at the video that may show up as "related videos" on the sidebar - it is in color with the title "TN pride." The bread the sausage patties are between are one example what we call biscuits in that commercial and how they are used.
I actually learned of the different use of the same word watching the British comedy "Keeping Up Appearances" which airs over here...Hyacinth always calling Elizabeth over and offering her "biscuits" which were different from what I knew biscuits to be.

Also, if you want to see how they are made, just type in "homemade biscuits" in a search.

We get cookies here too, but they're a specific kind of biscuit - circular and often with chocolate chips etc.
