  • 1 Control panel

    2 Hardware and Sound

    3 Manage audio devices

4 Right click on speakers then show disabled devices

5 Then a tv icon is shown and then just right click and click activate

    6 Your welcome :)

  • @nr1rachid

I lost a lot of time looking for that option, even though I had yesterday.

    Thanks a lot.

  • I set this as default (I'm not an idiot so it was what I did first) but there's still no sound and I'm pretty certain it's my tv that has a problem because it's been fudging me over all day. It has no networking or compatibility with hard drives/memory sticks/etc and NOW it won't give me sound when I connect my laptop. I JUST WANT TO WATCH SOME MOVIES ON MY TELEVISION FOR FUDGE SAKES.

  • @somecomputertips that was very helpfull lol, If I had windows 7 I wouldn't ask!

  • @somecomputertips Windows 7 is the best so far, but still improvements can be made.

  • what if you just cannot see the hdmi as a option in the sound..

  • @crapmundo

    Try updating your drivers first.

  • @crapmundo Or plugging in the cable, just saying...

  • @smithramos2

What you'll want to do is make sure you have your TV selected in the "screen resultion" menu

Right-click anywhere on the desktop, select "Screen Resolution" Both your displays should show as 1 & 2, click "detect" if they don't. Then click "identify"

Once you know which one is which go down to "multiple displays" and select "show desktop on 1" or "show desktop on 2" depending which one your TV is. Follow video.

If not open up ATI Catalyst Control Center & check settings.

  • I did follow your step but still no sound on tv, HELPPPPP!!!

  • @FOREVERYOUN9

You need to hit "set default" if it doesn't work, just remember to change it back to your computer speakers by hitting "set default" again. Actually it should change back automatically when you turn off your tv.

  • Hi,

I connect laptop hdmi to tv, picture and video is perfect but no sound. I went to control panel, sound setting and then saw HDMI icon on the top and then i double click and OK and try to play music, still no sound... and went back there to fix it and i double click hdmi again and properties and I accidently went to Device usage: Don't use this device (disable) and Ok.. so there no HDMI. So How do I get back? I try help and google few times, but the problem is no hdmi in sound. HELP PLEASE

  • @FOREVERYOUN9

Don't worry, you didn't ruin your computer.

    try this

Start> type "device manager" in the search bar and hit "enter"

Then when the window pops up look for "Sound Video and Game Controllers"

Expand the window by clicking the triangle. Find your device and right-click, and it should say "enable". Restart your computer if needed.

Hopefully that helps. Next time you do this click "set default" before clicking "ok" and it should work. Just remember to change it back.

  • Just bought a hdmi cable and I couldn't figure out why there was no sound coming from the TV! Thanks for posting the video :-)
