The earnest delivery doesn't quite fit with the reckless/anxious spirit of the song, but the Gin Blossoms were great. Always good to hear a different perspective of the song.
@epsteinsmutha1 So are you a Mats fan? This is my favorite song of theirs and I could listen to it over and over and over again. This one, once will do it. Although I'm glad to have heard it. I appreciate that they tried, but it makes me appreciate the "real" one(s) even more. Every single version of the Mats' Can't Hardly Wait will always be better than anyone else's.
Yep, big fan of Westy and the boys. I think my favorite version of this though is the SNL solo one where someone yells "BURT REYNOLDS!" before the song goes back up and Paul loses it. That's just hilarious and everything I love about the Mats.
Their covers of "Feel a Whole Lot Better" "Wait" "Folsom Prison Blues" "Number One" and "Movin' on Up (To the East Side)" are brilliant. The guitar sounds like the Dating Game version of "Little Spanish Flea" and I can't abide the echo on Robin's voice.
This sucks.

Not to be disrespectful but I think the Gin Blossoms do some great covers. Granted this is not the best.

Pretty decent attempt. But I'm just not feeling the heart and soul of the original.

Exactly! Thank you! No heart to it.

Why don't I like this more?

Sorry guys, slightly above a Gentleman's C.

Finally! I haven't heard their cover of this since I saw them for the first time about 8 or 9 years ago.

They kick ass on this cover. This is by far the closest I've heard anyoneget to Westerberg's sound. Way impressed. This version made my day.

i think hopkins had a sound pretty close to westerberg. their song writing styles were pretty similiar, in my opinion....
