This is more "feel-good" legislation. We don't need to change the gun purchasing process, we need to crack down on the courts and medical authorities to ensure they properly flag these people if they are in fact mentally ill. Abridging everyone's rights to protect against this few crowd of people is not sensible. It's the people, not the guns that are the problem. Guns are machined pieces of steel that have no emotions, feeling, motives, anger, or intent. People have these things.

People who commit crimes with these weapons are going to break laws to obtain them. The government cant leave responsible people helpless in their homes by creating these laws, because responsible people are the only ones who will obey the laws. SELF DEFENSE
So all the gov has to do is deem you mentally unstable, then they can deny your 2nd amendment right. The slippery slope is never obvious to the historically ignorant idiot.
Gun control laws really don't make sense. People who commit crimes don't care if guns are against the laws. It just insures that law abiding citizens aren't armed if they need to be.
Here's a scenario, a law abiding father's family is killed in a car accident. He is stricken with grief and needs to see a psychotherapist to help him through his troubled times and is diagnosed. Now this man has a mental record that may bar him from owning a firearm for the rest of his life. Its a slippery slope. "You can't stop insane people from doing insane things by passing insane laws; thats just insane."- P&T.

being mentally ill while owning a firearm, owning a firearm for illegal purposes, disturbing the peace, using a firearm for unlawful purposes, bringing firearms into a "gun free zone", owning ammo for unlawful purposes, owning ammo while being mentally ill, illegally concealing firearms, firing a gun for none legal purposes, murder of 32 people, and the list goes on.

the VT shooter did not get his guns because of a so called "loop hole", he got is guns because the court did not file him as a mentally ill.
its the courts fault that the shooter was abel to get a gun.
Also, it is much harder to get a gun then a drivers license.
