  • 3 words...(god bless you)..man i just recorded for a band the music were produced by me and they added thier guitars to it and now im havin 44 tracks project,,,big big headech equing each sound to put everything in its room spectr and panin every thing even a little to have more space and gettin rid of the (too much goin on)and each player wants his instrument to sound louda like the viollin guy wants to hear his viollin as loud as orchestra & guitarest to so i came to the point of "kill me now'

  • You guys are the greatest. Thank you for you teachings, and i look to follow you guys on my rise to success

  • Again I really appreciate your time, knowledge, & ability to explain things-thanks. It'll take time to digest the info in all these videos, but one question now: Which should I watch first? Ie, what's a good sequence to get a basic foundation, then build on it? Compression? Mastering? Arranging? Bouncing? Miking? Etc... Where do I start? Thanks. I'm 49, electric/acoustic guitar, vocals, drum machine, keyboards, glockenspiel (bells), MicroBR, need recording program! Confused "musical genius"...

  • @bookguitarguy Check out my JumpStart Your Mix series of videos. Just google JumpStart Your Mix. It will walk you through all things EQ, Compression, Editing, Mixing and Mastering.

  • @recordingrevolution Thank you truly. I'll do that. :O)

  • What microphone do you use and do you just record in an open room?

  • @mrDeffBeatz I use a variety of microphones from Rode, Kel Audio, and Behringer.

  • @mrDeffBeatz And yes, i track in an open room if necessary.

  • Oh man. I am so happy to have stumbled across this video, and am def gonna subscribe. Thank you so much for taking the time to show compression and E.Q. It's one of the most frustrating things for me, vocals that is.

  • That's an amazing tutorial, very clear and useful!

  • I enjoy your style and no non-sense approach man. Thanks for sharing your passion with us...Blessings!

  • Great tutorial Graham!!!

Extremely valuable information and amazing presentation.

  • YOU LOOK LIKE PETER ANDRE LOL GOOD VID !!

  • Thank you. Your way to deal with vocals is very similar to my way. but I dont use the GAIN knob in the compressor to avoid hard gates, so I use a standalone gain plugin instead, as well as gate dynamic plugin too.

  • Thank youuu!!!! :D

  • That was a great way to handle such a sticky question.

I have a question though: recording is just a hobby for me and I'm brand new to it. I've been looking on EBay for a really good deal on a Shure SM7B for guitar, maybe bass and some friend's metal vocals (not my cup of tea... but I want to be able to help out my friends and I want all the practice I can get). Part two coming...

  • Do you think I should just opt for a 57 and see how that works on metal vocals? I don't want to use my Rode NT2-A (which I got for a ridiculously cheap price on EBay!) on his vocals because it would probably just sound... silly.

What would you recommend or advise?

  • @LukeSock Plenty of people have used an SM57 on rock vocals with great success. It all depends on the voice. Is there a reason you don't want to use the Rode on his vocals? Does it not sound good to you?

  • @recordingrevolution It doesn't really sound good because it's that screaming kind of vocals and it just sounds awful on my Rode.

I think I'm going to get a 57 as it seems to do wonders. I'll probably end up getting a couple of them anyway hahaha

    Thanks!
