  • i enjoyed this vid

  • really informative and interesting

  • If your a parent thinking of putting a child in to "Special Ed", don't. The term "learning disability" is fake, I wouldn't be able to write this if I was unable to learn! Besides getting a watered down education, children don't gain the same experiences as a "normal" student would. This is due to segregation and being labeled as a "different" or "disabled" student. Just so you know, labeling has a HUGE effect on a person's psychology, especially a child's.

  • @yetibeef I agree with you but what are the alternatives these days.

  • I have a learning disability and ive speech problems we are just as much worth helpin as so called normal ppl. we just need extra help

  • omg i want be in a special ed class^

  • Wow, I didn't know there was special ed "classes" I thought it was just someone who went into ur classes and watched you. At least that's how it is for me. But I'm still taking all the regular classes as other 9th graders like me, I'm just not in a class with other special ed kids. And I have to do the same work :( which is hard as hell.

  • in my skool kids thinks special lead is for retarted ppl -.-

  • I HATED regular ed! I was discriminated against because of either my looks, or because I had only 2 classes that were special ed. I'm in full time special ed and I love it!

  • Most sped students have IQ's between 60-80

  • I hate special ed, your locked in a small room with 2 sometime's 3 people you become isolated and lose all your friends teachers give up on you you get exempt from all the important stuff like math, science etc. Like whats the point of going to school? I wonder is it like that in schools all over the place or is it only my crappy school???

  • There are no children or anyone with disabilies, so all special education classes are illegal under the US Constitution 9re:1954 US Supreme Court ruling on separate classes for different categories of people Brown v. Topeka Board of Education) And that makes Special education a hate crime adainst the so-ca;\lled disabled!!!

  • I hope this kids aren't so hard on their parents over special education. The school staff set themselves up as experts and tell the parents to get stuffed if the disagree. As parent I got so fed up with how I was treated I made a video of my experiences, see Herr Hitler, Director ... (after placing my kid in private school). This video is the ideal of what the law says, but without budget and enforcement, the reality is a kids are stuffed into a warehouse until they age out.

  • i really dislike special ed i've been in it 3 grade all the way up to 9th grade. it's like a prison they teach you the same thing and don't even give home work to help you remember and practice. i mean i was a good kid but i didn't get certain things cause i didn't have that parenting at home. the person who helped me with my homework always gave me tha answers... she was really sick though. and with special ed not giving me any thing i feel deeper behind. i only had one teacher who cared.

  • There's nothing wrong with having a special education......:) as long as you learn something is all that matters kids.

  • special ed pretty much ruined my life theres nothing wrong with me i just wanna go in normal classes ive been in special ed my whole life im now in 8th grade my 8th grade sucked by the way someone please tell me how to get out because if in those classes in high school then im dropping out

  • I had to survive school with special education. And I still got into university. My parents said that special ed students can still go to college.

  • I avoid sped by being nasty to the teachers and not trying. It really works!!!! :)

  • They've been trying to place me in there since 5th grade because of poor grades, they evaluated me by giving me really simple tests like, how would you write 4 in sentence form? (which I ACED) My mom demanded they not so they told her that if I do bad in school there going to send me to sped with no parental awareness. I did fantastic in sped. I got all 90's on all my tests and I could read faster than the others. After a while it kind of made me depressed and I started thinking I was dumb, so

  • I'm in special education but I don't take any special education classes...

  • hhahaa you guys have no idea how its like in my special ed class

  • i want to be in speical ed... i dont want to be in a nomal class

  • Why waste money on these kids? Will they ever be able to go to college?

  • very nice video. my mind was refreshed. i'm taking my LET this summer. hope to get more infos from u. pls email me vsacay@yahoo.com. tnx

  • In the old days religious people had believe in werewolves. Around the year 1650 someone discover they were just mentally-disabled or handicaps on thier way of being excuted. Some would say what happened to the good old days? I love history.

  • @TheMightOfChina You are ignorant.

  • I taed for a special education class 4 years back.

one of the greatest impacts on my life.

  • @babbler254 Hey...Just checking how it went. Howd it go?

  • I got ADHD and aspbergers but Im seriously tired of being pulled out of class during tests!! the teachers are a joke whats the point of pulling someone out of class if they cant help you in a test? its bullcrap I got good grades

  • Most special education recipients fall within the categories of borderline intellectual functioning and mild mental retardation.

I was in spec-ed in high school, I should know this from first-hand experience.

  • i am special ed girl i cant talk very well

  • IM IN SPECIAL ED I DONT HAVE ANY DISABILITES THEY WONT TAKE ME OUT!!!! WTF HELP! MY GRADES ARE FINE

  • @lefrego You sound like your teacher, instead of a doctor diagnosed you. These are some cases, where a teacher believes you are "handicapped" or "behavior problems". Get yourself diagnosed. If a teacher still believes you are handicapped, then pursue a meeting with your teachers. Hope this has been some help to you.

  • @lefrego GET OUT NOW! Do something to get in trouble like I did back in HS. Make your parents move you to anouther school or something. I was a victim like you and now I am a 23 year old "jobless" person because of being in those classes. Please listen to me, as I am telling you from experience.

  • @lefrego do you have any emotional disorders?

  • well,I have a learning disability and there was no help in my time.so should I have been killed like I read in some comments.or we are not worth the money spent on special ed. I managed to pass the GED when everyone said I was wasting my time.

    well excuse me for living.

  • i feel bad for special ed kids there treated diffrently ps im in 7th grade and make sure your special ed teachers treat your child like normal teacher would cause once they go into normal class theyll be confused

  • some of you people don't get, some people need to be in special education, i was in special education from 5th-12th grade since i was not able to learn in a regular classroom. but it is very difficult if you have a learning disability. i could never understand what i was doing for each subject that i was working on. it also didn't help when your parents had a learning disability.

  • I was in Special Education since I was in preschool. All the way up to high school. I use to get labeled as "retarded." But I wasn't afraid to hide it. I volunteer my time now at a preschool classroom with children with special needs like myself growing up. It's a joy working with those kids they sure can light up the room with just a smile :-)

  • I was in special Ed throughout school. Even though & have a highschool diploma & passed the grade 10 litteracy test without no help. I feel I don't deserve it because the work in "sped" was TO EASY. My self esteem is dead because of Sped!. I hate my parents for putting me in there in Grade 1. Crushing my confidence!

  • @HBKanedge818 Good for you that you passed the literacy test.I was sped and it has done

nothing for me but ruined my self esteem. I hate the term special needs.

  • I wish my Parents would have just gotten me out of that rotten Teachers class, and had gotten me a tutor for math during the Summer instead. I can't even get a job as a Cashier, and thats all that highers where i live. Special Education is something i would NEVER put my child in.

  • Humiliation for all those years. I graduated and im 27 years old and till this day i cant multiply or divide numbers quickly, i dont know algebra, geomotery etc. I cant get into the college i want because i can't pass what is considered Basic Math on the College Tabe test.

  • @danlublock dont worry man nobody is perfect. i went threw the same thing. keep your head up

  • I was in special Ed from 1st grade-12th grade. I had problems with my teacher who constantly made me cry, which caused me to fail 1st grade. My parents were told i needed special education for Math since i was so behinde. It was the biggest mistake my mother could make. I was never properly taught Math, but instead they had us play games, and the classrooms weren't even class rooms, they were closets with desks or the end of hallways with desks made to look like classrooms.

  • if ur special ed does that mean ur retarded? cuz i have a friend thats in it but is normal!

  • @residentevil5fan18 Some students that need exta help may be placed in special education. There are several levels of special education

RSP(Which your friend may be in)

    SDC (Special Day Class)

SH [ Suvarly handycapt (exscuse my spelling please) ]

    So, yes and no.

  • All special Education scholls MUST be closed down and burned down on a given sunday as they are illegal, a real hate crime against humanity, and are in in violation of the U.S. Constitution (re: 1954 Brown v. Topeka Board of Education US Supreme Court ruling) and UN Chapter on Human Rights as there are absolutely no disabled people in the world!!!!

  • Some special needs children do attend regular schools, However, schools reserve the right to say they are not qualitfied to teach children with severe needs. Many special needs children don't learn like other children, their education is very specialized. You're stattig we should deny those individuals with severe special needs the opputunity to recieve education. As a soldier you defend against tyranny. With out education, these special needs children are all too often the victims of tyranny.

  • Dude im a specal educator. This vid rocks man

  • @babbler254 Just make sure to do this:

If you are in it, then just request a meeting to get out. If you are NOT in it, you are one lucky bastargo. Grats.

  • I wish that all parents in the United States that have children with special needs could be aware of this video. Thank you for posting it. I will place this on my Parent Advocate Youtube channel. I will also tell parents about this video in my special needs advocacy workshops. The more a parent knows the more the child will grow. Job well done! Thank you.

  • Totally not worth it.

  • @MultiSnooty I am glad your account is closed.I have LD and I work and pay taxes.

  • Personally I think that most of special education is just a waste of money. If kids aren't going to be able to be independent then why spend millions on education them?

  • @MultiSnooty Ever thought that if they weren't educated at all, more of them would be dependent upon welfare to support themselves? I bet you'd complain about that too.

  • @MultiSnooty I have a learning disability and so I should not be educated?

I pass my GED and learned more from the GED classses than from sped.

    So excuse me for living.

  • Thank you very much for this information. I needed to know this for my child. She was a child find has a LD and I need to know as much about this as possible.

  • god speacial ed is so freaking boring

  • So if your in Special Ed you have a Learning Disorder? And can never be treated like a Normal Student?

  • Children in special education have a disability that somehow impairs their ability to learn. Special education should help a child overcome the challenges of their disability while maintaining learning with their same age piers. They are "normal" students, just with a defined additional challenge.

  • Special Ed is a freaking NIGHTMARE. They treat you like a inhuman freak of nature and pull you out, ultimately making one go crazy. DO NOT LISTEN TO WHAT THEY SAY! Escape, before your childhood is butchered to pieces and destroyed! SE never gets better. Just RUN from it! My life is nearly destroyed by this, DONT give in to the BS they sugar-talk you into going into. DONT.

  • With all due respect this is why people like myself do the work we do. Outcomes for every child can be improved. Being an informed participant in the process is the first step to better outcomes.

  • can i share this video in facebook? please? i wanna share this vid to my friends. Thanks.

  • Of course! We are happy to see any of our videos widely shared.

  • I was in Special Education in North Texas. I have High Functioning Autisim/ Asperger Syndrome. But it's not to the extend where I am fully disabled.

  • I thought this was a great video and wanted to showcase it--but was surprised to see that it was not "accessbile" and captioned?

  • We are happy to report that captions have been added. We are grateful to YouTube for new technology that makes this easier!

  • i am a student majoring in special education. i am currently in my third year in college. One of our requirement in school is to make a site related to our major. May i ask permission in using this video and posting it in my site as a link. This would be very helpful to those other spedmajors who would be visiting my site. Thank you very much.

  • Of course, we would be happy to see you link to this video.

  • The teachers are often horrible. I don't mean to be rude but 1:1 doesn't work if half is in the dark. Not that I'm blaming, but we should be separated so that we're together at least instead of socially outlawed and taunted by even teachers at a time when we can't fight back. Sometimes people improve. We don't have a chance in that environment. I tried to drop to get a job, but since I was special, I was special. It's cool. I know that I was really craving that amount of attention.

  • I have them but they must understand about other kids disabillites

  • I'm special ed (ADHD) and I try not to let it bug me. It's really hard to focus on things that don't interest me (mostly algebra). I hate how I won't go to special ed classes because I will be made fun of and be in a room all day with people that are usually far more ill than myself. I take normal classes to be normal and be like everybody else but I hate how stupid I look compared to the other kids. I'm always done on an assignment last and I usually do bad on them. ADHD sucks.

  • I'll tell you a secret, what they dont tell you. ADHD is a mental blessing...a hyper active brain capable of far surpassing those with regular abilities. You think faster, and you think more, Math bores you because unlike most, you think faster, you think beyond. Find something that interests you, lock on, and you'll do it better than anybody else. Algebra , and the entire school system, is made for those normal, the majority, to 'suceed',,that is, make it into "normal " life. u dont need that

  • Man, both of my IQs are above normal, and I was placed in there. I have some focusing problems, but I had a lot of personal problems as well. Try, please, try to get away from them before it's too late. Your life depends on it. Mine is destroyed. It doesn't get better. Don't listen to them. Get away!

  • i was in special ed from grade's kidergarden-grade12, and people take my word it was a nightmare in the younger grades kids made fun of me for it and in high school u would here the other kids making fun of eacher other.(example: someone drops a bottle and it smashes his friend says what are u in special ed) anyway if u dont want to child to be discluded and made fun of dont put them in it. also the teachers are a joke...

  • you are right I have this too in High School.

  • @Ontario88Canada i was in special ed throught 3 grade and 7

  • there is nothing wrong with special education

  • i have a disbles and i hate it the kids are mean to me they allwaays are done befor me and it makes me mad and say that was easy.

  • Excellent video. I am adding it to my favorites and I added it to my lens on Squidoo about special education. (My screen name at Squidoo is Teddi14) I hope more parents & educators see this.

  • this video is awsome! thanks for posting so much information that is so helpful. i got placed in special education when i was in elementary school..and continued in it all through middle and high school. i felt less inteligent and stupid because i was in special education, but when i was little i didnt understand the background and meaning of it. im attending college and majoring in elementary education..this was so helpful and touching in a way. thanks so much again! it is useful in all ways
