there are machetes where the steel is so strong and sharp they will cut through the scope and in some cases through the whole rifle, so this might work against the typical Chinese machete you get at the dollar store, but as far as the time proven kukri, or other similarly hand made quality blades like real samurai swords, in the hands of skilled warriors, forget it, better do transition to secondary drills and step your game up. its too late when a blade is imbedded in your skull.

It's good to see a step-by-step explanation of what an experienced fighter would do, but IRL, things happen lightning-fast and you'd be probably overwhelmed if such actions doesn't come by heart. NOW at 4:46--- you did this a couple times: your lead leg is IN THE LINE of attack. If he follows through his swing you're going...

Again, I like what you have going, but there's something missing. Needs a little salt! :) TRY THIS: (range dependent) if he comes at you charging, step in and make the gun check ON THE HAND, using footwork (female triangle) to zone off the outside, then you can snake the elbow to control the limb!! IMHO

If a guy throws a straight right, you block it, move his arm to the ground without grabbing it, and then poke him in the eyes, right? And the boxer wouldn't have a chance to pull his arm back, or do something with his other hand, right? Right?
Ain't gonna happen. The boxer's too fast.
Here's the thing, when you hit with a sword, you hit HARD. It will either 1) go through the skull, 2) miss, fly past, and a good swordsman would turn the momentum into a second swing,
or 3) BOUNCE if it hits a hard surface, ie is blocked. The swordsman can turn THAT momentum into a second strike too. So that block-parry-counter would never work - and it's too slow to boot. A slow, untrained thug machete wielder would be striking about 1.5 times a second. How long did this little routine take?
this is a good technique but in many cases in a scenario like this many people wouldn't think about this technique when the time comes, they will just use their instincts. they will 1, either drop their weapon and pull out another firearm, 2, try and dodge the blow, or 3, just try to run away while trying to unjam your gun.
but how often does a solider encounter something like this? it's not like one solider is out there doing all the fighting. he does have the rest of his squad.

Alot of these moves are done step by step and theres no way you will learn it in just some weeks when you have 20 more to learn. Your body forgets stuff easy thats why you need to do it over and over and over so when you have to fight you just dont go back to basics.
Almost hate to say this, but if the guy with the machete knows how to use it, or even knows any fencing, all the advice shown here is useless. To begin, they won't be aiming for the top of your head, to continue, they won't just stand there if you block, etc.....

Helmet isnt made to stop a machete with a very sharp edge. Its for debris and maybe a stray shrapnel. Not a deliberate powerful strike with an edged weapon. Machete mostly is made of hardened steel. Helmet? chances are it isnt
Absolutely - but a helmet is a better defense against a machete than a scalp. Some armies in the world still carry bayonets on their rifles, which would make an unloaded Aug a better bet against an edged weapon

or 3) BOUNCE if it hits a hard surface, ie is blocked. The swordsman can turn THAT momentum into a second strike too. So that block-parry-counter would never work - and it's too slow to boot. A slow, untrained thug machete wielder would be striking about 1.5 times a second. How long did this little routine take?

this is a good technique but in many cases in a scenario like this many people wouldn't think about this technique when the time comes, they will just use their instincts. they will 1, either drop their weapon and pull out another firearm, 2, try and dodge the blow, or 3, just try to run away while trying to unjam your gun.
but how often does a solider encounter something like this? it's not like one solider is out there doing all the fighting. he does have the rest of his squad.

Alot of these moves are done step by step and theres no way you will learn it in just some weeks when you have 20 more to learn. Your body forgets stuff easy thats why you need to do it over and over and over so when you have to fight you just dont go back to basics.

Almost hate to say this, but if the guy with the machete knows how to use it, or even knows any fencing, all the advice shown here is useless. To begin, they won't be aiming for the top of your head, to continue, they won't just stand there if you block, etc.....

Helmet isnt made to stop a machete with a very sharp edge. Its for debris and maybe a stray shrapnel. Not a deliberate powerful strike with an edged weapon. Machete mostly is made of hardened steel. Helmet? chances are it isnt

Absolutely - but a helmet is a better defense against a machete than a scalp. Some armies in the world still carry bayonets on their rifles, which would make an unloaded Aug a better bet against an edged weapon

I work for Security in Canada and our guys have run into guys on the street who have weilded Machetes.
