@20-22 seconds mark this must have been shot in 79 or late 1980 cuz Darby died dec 8 1980 the same time as Lennon--is Darby appearing in the rest of the film at all?
Dude, is that Mohican Darby in the crowd?? Awesome. He looks so like, "Psssh, whatEVER. Get me another bee-UH!" to whichever fag hag he had around him during those last days.
Urgh! A Music War had some really great moments that introduced me to a lot of music a kid from Chicago just never got to hear. I buddy from LA when I was in the USAF introduced me to to it, and I still find the performances inspiring.
You just knew Danny Elfman was going places with a performance like this.
Most definitely the most talented (musicians) of any '80's band. I must have seen them a half dozen times. Steve Bartek (the guy in the suit) does all of Danny Elfmans orchestrations and arrangements for his film scores.
Is it true that Danny Elfman doesnt know how to actually write down music onto paper? ...like..the way he composes...i heard from my music professor that he hires professional music writers and what danny does is hum everything to them as they write it down and give it to the orchestra....thats pretty effing badass if you ask me.
jesus he sings exactly like andy partridge was a couple of years earlier. my mistake it doesn't sound like XTC with a bit of devo thrown in...it just sounds like XTC
I love early Boingo, but I wish more people were listening to XTC - White Music. The band looks a little naive/staged in these early performance videos! Early Oingo Boingo (the band) is a lot like Forbidden Zone (the movie) flavored early XTC songs... and just the early 80's SoCal punk scene sound in general.
Let me get this straight...you were old enough to see the show in '80, and you behave like this? Are you slightly autistic? Are you Peter Pan? Did you really never grow the fuck up?
I'm calling bullshit, you are a tweenie, awash in the tide of your own raging hormones.
Indeed, a few of us were discussing how if we went back in time to the 80's, we'd try to get hired as his ah, personal sweat mopper. That was my brilliant idea, haha.
I totally have a girl boner for Danny right now. He was so FUCKING HOT!!! Too bad this concert took place three years before I was born. If I met him in his prime, we would do it. And it would be awesome.
Nasty Habits is a great tune. This was from their first release, an EP with 4 songs on it. Only A Lad was on it, with another song I love called "Violent Love".
This was always the best version of this song, studio "or" live! They still had their more agressive edge back then. Their early sound always reminded me of an 80's updated punk version of surf music. Very unique and cool band! Without Danny Elfman, we may have never had a Simpsons theme song as cool as the one he wrote. It sounds an awful lot like the Boingo song "Nasty Habits". Anyone else remember that one?
They are one of those bands who were best live. They were my first concert ever in Nov. 1983 @ the CSUF gym. Crazy night. I got swept away in the crowd several times and left covered in sweat...not my own! LOL!
wud be good if u cud post the lyrics above, can't hear them too well on this live version (good show tho! cheers for uploading)

So what's with the dude freakishly covering his face at the beginning. It looks like he has a phobia of being in front of camera lol.

The bass line in this song (and any other song Kerry Hatch played on) is ridiculesly good.
He's a real kickass bass player !!!!

The guitar 'solo's' on this song are hilarious... they are the audio equivalent of watching people fall on ice!

No, that's not true at all. He has dispelled that myth in interviews.

Steve and Kerry wearing suits, the brass section was relevant, Ribbs playing keyboards... and where the hell is Vatos?
Oh... and Danny's classic facial expressions, 2:46 all cramped into the tiniest stage EVER.
That WAS the life.
