  • Useful vid, But how is to identify which is the run winding and which is the start winding using an ohmmeter? regards

  • @TheMrmujid On three terminal motors it is easy. Lowest resistance is run winding to common, higher resistance is phase winding to common, slightly higher resistance is across the run and phase winding.

  • @vegmatic1966 thanks f reply, So What are the other termination types other than 3 terminal motor? please advice

  • I installed a new fan motor with 3 wires on my ac and it turn backwards unless i spin it the right way.But when it turns off it will not come back on.Whats up?

  • An electrical parts or machine/motor supply company may be able to help.

  • Where would one find a capacitor like this? I have a similar motor that can not start without the capacitor. By the way I am in Australia

  • Where wou

  • Based on resistance values, how do you determine which is the start and which is the run windings for troubleshooting purposes?

  • @redexit Lowest resistance = main winding. Higher resistance = start (phase) winding. Highest resistance = measuring across the start and run windings (three terminal arrangement).

  • Great video ,the only thing that would have made it better would be to talk about power factor ,and how the cap basicaly tunes the start winding so you get max power transfer. That would be a power factor close to 1 .I like to tell people that inductuion motors are where you start to move from electrical to electronics. Again Great video.

  • hello. i have 3 wires from my westing house 3/4 pool pump stator. can u tell me what wires go where to test with 10v ac

  • Thank you so much! I collect vintage electric motors, so I am an eager student.

  • Got anything on shaded poles?

  • the capacitor for the permanent split phase motor basically makes the motor a 2 phase motor providing smooth quiet running operation since there is a rotating magnetic field produced by the stator instead of just a pulsating magnetic field like the resistance start or capacitor start motors

  • @Gobdobber Yes, I have noticed when unplugging the capacitor from an already spinning motor that there is more AC line frequency hum and more current gets drawn although the motor continues to spin normally.

  • thank you for some information and clips

  • Very good infomation thanks for posting ...

  • Thank you. An informative video clip, well presented.

  • Thank you for your well done informative video.

    Hope you make others.

    Much appreciated.

  • nice video, and some larger motors use a centrifugal switch (or however you spell it) to control the start windings, so you don't need a relay for those "split phase" motors.

  • thank U for this useful clip

my question is how can U change the rotation for single phase motor

and I’ll be thankful if you post a video about it

  • So informative! Thanks very much for posting this.

  • you can see a better replacement at web page isovolt

  • thank u !! i have a test on this and the vid helped me a lot ....
