i love Mr. ed!!! i've only been watching this for 2 weeks and i love it but to see it i have to stay up to 2:00 am and 3:00 am!! and it's well worth it!!!!
I am sad to report that Connie Hines, who played Carol Post, and sometimes second fiddle to a talking horse, passed away recently from heart problems at age 79.
Ah memories. I used to watch this in syndicated reruns around the mid-late 1970s. Sadly, they stopped airing it & I havent seen this show since, around 30+ years. As a result, I dont recall specific episodes of Mr Ed the way I have other tv shows memorized, BUT the opening theme has remained with me. And hearing it again after all these years brings back fond, sweet nostalgic memories of me as a kid sitting in front of the living room tv back then, enjoying reruns of my favorite classic tv shows
I completely agree with you on nick at nite. I didnt get cable tv until 1996. Then they were still airing classic tv sitcoms. Then I watched their downfall as they replaced the good old stuff with more recent garbage that cannot be called classic. Then they did the same thing to TV Land. Thankfully we have DVD and the internet to still enjoy these classic tv shows.
My guilty pleasure: I watch Ed every morning at 6:30 a.m. while my daughter gets ready for school. I always miss the last few minutes while I take her down to the bus.
Keating was a natural. Very professional. He died suddenly, didn't he? I also enjoyed the woman who played his wife. On a totally different subject, did they ever explain why Wilbur and Carol didn't have any kids?
TV Land and Nick at Nite have gotten so bad now. I thank you for posting this great show. Keep up the good work. I wish television was like this again. Blessings~~Cindy
A person can dream, can't they? ;) It's amazing, the chemistry between Alan Young and Bamboo Harvester (the real name of the horse). And that horse was SMART!
This was from a time when Nick at Nite wa awesome showing black and white shows. Now they suck like every other channel. Thanks so much for posting this gem :)
I taped this on a spur of the moment. At the time I didn't even know they were running it and just came across it. It was a Saturday, and there were some episodes of other series that they ran that I wish I had gotten.
And you are right about Nick at Nite. Happy Holidays to you and enjoy the videos.

Nick at Nite and TVLand should change their names. Everybody Hates Chris and Everybody Loves Raymond are "classics"?

I didn't discover Mr. Ed until it aired on Nick at Nite. That's when Nick at Nite was good. Now they are running the more recent stuff.

Leon Ames was quite good, but was absolutely, positively, and beyond the shadow of a doubt, NO match for Larry Keating.
If you agree, raise your hand.

Larry Keating died around September 1963 of leukemia.
As for why Wilbur and Carol did not have children, well, I guess that's a mystery.
Happy Thanksgiving.

LOL @ how Ed sings "Jingle Bells". "In a one horse open sleigh... of hay". Also, the way he says "fa, la, la, la,la"!

Use to watch this after school when I was a kid, back when Nick at Nite didn't completely sell out. Connie Hines was so hot.

Interestingly enough, Alan Young, aka Wilbur, would go on to voice Scrooge in the Disney Christmas Carol
