Chris Rea and Mark Knopfler were my strongest musical influence. Check my songs for that. Search "Al Varda" on youtube and you'll have a nice alternative ;-)
Had to look up Highways 61 and 49 to be sure, and, sure enough, they roll straight through Louisiana and Mississippi. U.S. 49 starts north from the water's edge in Gulfport, and 61 comes straight out of downtown NOLA.
@staniszow Thanks. I would love to see Chris's slide played along side Buddy's Wandre. And if Chris & Buddy would play his slide on the Wandre, one could only imagine the sounds that it would create. It would most likely be incredibly awesome.
THIS GUY IS "THE BEST"... AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED. HE'S FREAKIN' HANDSOME ANS SEXY AND I LOVE HIS MUSIC. I HAVE A BUNCH OF HIS CD'S BUT I LISTEN TO HIM ON U/T TOO. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING....BJ
Oh yeah blues baby Chris ;-) his concert last March was one of the best I,ve ever seen/heard loved every second off it. Love his voice and he,s such a wonderfull guitarplayer. Keep it up Chris.
This is a wonderful cut and the word "awesome" is much overused but Chris Rhea is truly and really AWESOME. I've been a fan for a long time but somehow I've missed "Somewhere" until now. Thanks.
I have got to meet this guy. I have got to meet whoever this is. Please everybody help me meet this guy. We speak the same language, no shit. Help me.
Oh my *%&$%& Flipp.. inn.. heck.. WoW!!!! hehehe.. ohh boy ohh boy.. hehe.. Oh Chris.. Wow.. dont know about you guys n Gals but this gets me every time I watch this.. listen to it.. hehe .. Ahhhh thats feels better.. just what I needed.. now for a nice cuppa charly..
Hi James, You are right when you say "His soul, his heart is in this music", Chris has said that for a long time. He became a POP artist by accident, but always wanted to play the Blues. After more than 25 years, and a few strokes with death because of his illness, he decided to go Blues. Since 2002, all his works have been the blues.
Including BLUE GUITARS, in 2005, (His own take on the History of Blues, a True Masterpiece!), and THE RETURN OF THE FABULOUS HOFNER BLUE NOTES (60s Blues), that came out earlier this year. On another note, CHRIS REA IS SO MUCH BETTER LIVE, IN CONCERT, than any of his studio albums can ever testify. :-)
@lilybee06 Like Laura Fabian he draws strength from his audience. He comes alive, shines brightly like a star. And I agree he puts more soul in his songs when he is live. He lives for music. He doesn't consider himself a Rock Star but a true musician. And he is considered by many the best slide guitarist in the world. And I agree with that assumption
Oh, Ive gotta get my Harp out and jazz along with our man Chris here, Im just in the mood. Thanks Lily for responding. Ever noticed it's always after a moment, a revelation, a experiance in our life that things happen for us how we want it? I've for so long wanted to play like this man, and now with prayer and study I might come close. God bless Chris. Out with the Harp...
James from uk here. stupid question for you, do I have to like his early career music to be a real fan of this man? His soul, his heart is in this music and I like it, I like it to its core. I heard 'Auberge', 'Nothing to Fear', Soup of the Day' when my father listened to him when I was younger and I loved the sound. Do I have to like his more Pop Rock side to be a fan? Man this Guy's got heart, he encouraged my Guitar playing... God bless him.

God, if we could only get Chris, Buddy Miller, Mark Knopfler and Jimmy Vaughn together it would be Blues Heaven beyond belief.
