  • I never realised how many sketches Graham and Terry J were in together. Odd really since I've watched every episode known to man.

One thing though no northern playwrite sketch

  • Bloody fantastic! Thank you!

  • 2:11 is to be found here :Monty Python Fund Drive Spots for PBS Chicago (1975)

  • Brilliant video! I love Pythons :) And I would die to see the interview at the end- any clues where I might find it?

  • Is it just me or would they make a gorgeous couple?

  • Thank you very much for this wonderful tribute!

Where are 0:26 and 0:49 taken from?

  • @fhvr40 I think that 0:26 is taken from the Full Frontal Nudity episode, and 0:49 is from Pleasure at Her Majesties/The Secret Police Man's Ball, you should find the latter of which in my favorites :) While we're on the subject of finding things, what is that interview bit at the end, I certainly haven't seen it

  • @armadafanforever: I couldn't find it, just an excerpt from 0:26 and you have so many favorites :) Maybe I can find 0:49 in 'Remember the secret policeman's ball'. I can't help you with the interview.

  • @fhvr40 its like in the top ten of my favorites, just look and it'll be there

  • @armadafanforever: Thank you, I found it!

  • @armadafanforever And now I found the other one, too :)

  • @fhvr40 Le gasp! Good for you :)

  • Where's 2:11 taken from?

  • I really just love this video - I now feel awful for not remembering that Terry J and Graham were in so many sketched together! Love them all, Thanks!

  • You are always in our thoughts Graham!

  • allah akbar

  • Terry Jones is very much alive, I think what the video is trying to say that Jones was in a lot of sketches with Graham and the fact that terry directed Live of Brian one of the best films python ever did.

  • Someone dosent need to be dead to have a tribute made for them, its better to do it before they die if possible.

  • Really terrific tribute. Two thumbs and all ten toes UP!

  • Terry Jones died?

    When?

    Sad....

  • @vlayco33 he isnt dead, but yes it would be sad if he did, it would be sad if any of them did, just like it was when graham chapman died

  • This caught me in just the right mood, great tune, great Python (they were all great), his humour was realised without the slightest hint of ego, hats off to him he left a very lasting impression (it doesn't matter how tall it is, it worth having a laugh at it....)

  • Good tribute! I love the choice of song as well, well done.

  • where was the very last interview clip from?

  • awesome tribute:) 5 stars!... but where did you take all the footage?

  • We miss you Graham.....

  • This was very sweet and touching.

  • wait... at 0:25 what sketch is that??

  • Part of the Frontal Nudity episode, where people are being interviewed on the topic of Full Frontal Nudity.

  • I nearly teared up, I did.

  • sadly suits them. <3 python.

  • Flogging Molly. Great choice for this video. Great tribute.

  • Nice song.

  • i almost had a bit of a heartattack there with the title...

calling it a tribute to Terry Jones makes it sound like he's passed away too... he hasn't.

  • Graham Chapman is a legend and nobody has a right to say something else, because of shocking Life of Brian... Holy Graal and all his great roles in Monty Python's flying circus improve how brilliant personality and talent he had!!!

  • what's wrong with you dude?!Do you have any problem?

  • Life of Brian was fucking brilliant.

  • The whole creation was and is still brilliant.

  • Of course Terry's not dead, but anyway, we can pay a tribute to a living person, can't we? ;)

    RIP Graham.

  • Where is 2:54 from???

    x

  • Eh Terry's still alive, my friends.. What the shell!? Scared the shit outta me there like!

  • fantastic!!

  • terry jones isnt dead, wtf?

  • I absolutely LOVE the picture at 2:46...

  • My favorite tribute to Graham. It makes me smile with the wonderful choice of music, and the terrific vid.

  • What a great brilliant troupe they were.. Made us all laugh and forget for a while

  • touching...

  • wow that was an amazing tribute! :D Terry Jones was such a cutie ;) both great people. forever in our hearts Graham.

  • I liked it alot, I like them alot to...

    Hehe.

  • You make THE best videos, a dayinthelife. PLEASE make more, I'm begging you.

  • forever in our hearts Grahm and Terry's cute :) <3 great tribute!

  • what is the black and white video at 49 seconds from!?!?! great video by the way!

  • I think it's from the Amnesty International's Secret Policeman's Ball.. they had clips of the actors inbetween sketches.

  • the song is: Flogging Molly - If I ever leave this world alive

  • Love them both <3

    RIP Graham Chapman <3

  • great clip i love monty python! :) they all rock and way to go greenmage8!

  • Well, it doesn't matter who was closer to whom, it's not a debatable subject. IMO, I think it's well done and a nice compilation.

  • Just out of interest, what makes you think Jones and Chapman were closer than any of the other Pythons? Its my understanding that, Jones and Chapman shared an especially strong bond with anyones it would be Palin and Cleese respectively. They were all very good friends. What say you?

  • According to his biography Michael Palin mentions Terry Jones as his writing partner and ex-university chum. Cleese and Chapman wrote together. Eric Idle and Terry Gilliam did most of their stuff solo. They then came together as a group, read out what they'd produced and taken the best bits to develop.

  • Sorry, I meant to say 'diary' not 'biography'. I should know better, I've got the book!

  • that diary book, i saw that at a store the other day, it's really big, but i got a different monty python book......

  • rip chapman !

  • Graham and Jonesy are my favourite Pythons too!

  • btw adayinthelife this a great video and i loved it. i love eric and michael the best, but poor terry and graham get overlooked :(! i think it's about time people gave them some attention

  • Graham doesn't get overlooked with me. I find him rather attractive :)

  • yeah most people i know like john cleese the best, but my faves are definatly terry j and eric idle. :)

  • um little message for nerodollinger - why do you look up python stuff if all you do is insult their fans? isn't that a bit sad don't you think? somebody needs to get out more i think...

and i don't think it's fair to call either terry jones or graham chapman morons as they graduated from oxford/cambridge - the best unis i know, and revolutionised comedy, which lets face it, is probably more than you'll ever do in your life.

    GET A GRIP!

  • graham as oscar wilde-brilliant! They were all great character actors and comedy writers....and they all were convincing as the authority figures they parodied.

  • Terry and Graham always were the best acting combo in the Python troupe.

  • Very nice vid. I really like it.

    Btw - Great song.

  • Happy Birthday Terry, god i love them both!

  • two great men and a wonderful video!!beautiful!

  • To the god-squaddy respondents in this discussion. Matthew 7.1, Python et al were having a laugh, if your faith is strong, this should only re-inforce it

  • and now for something completly different

  • they dont make them like him anymore.hes collecting shrubberies in heaven now.a sad loss.

  • I'd say more like shoveling coal in hades.of course i could be wrong.

  • whatever that means,

  • it means. I hope the sorry son a bitch cunt is in hell and burning like a firecracker. I hate ther way his kind and you mock our religion.I for am not going to stand for it.

  • mock your religion?let me guess, celtic supporter?your religion is just an excuse to argue, and make you feel like your part of something and not the inaffectual pubic louse that you are,i looked at your comments box, dont you see a theme going on?everyone thinks your a cunt, not me tho,i think ur great,

  • Yes a Celtic supporter I am. And I also love people from Scotland. I think the Scots are great. One of my best mates is from scotland and he's just like a native Irish guy except he drinks more beer.I love being a louse.thanx

  • as i said i think your great, but you have a major problem with british people, ive got a lot of celtic mates but they all seem to have this thing about british people, they want 2 kick their heads in,and its all because of religious propaganda, imagine how good it would be if prodys and catholics could drink together, its 2008 for fuck sake, share the love

  • hey!I've nothing against British people.I have close relations who are British.I worked in Britain for years and it was great.I love Welsh,Scots and English.I also love'Prods'.My Grandfather was an Orangeman!my only prob is with life of Brian.

  • you need to lighten up pal, monty python were years ahead of their time, they created a new genre of comedy, thats still as fresh and funny today, what makes somebody great is the ability to laugh at themselves, the pythons didnt conform 2 what was considered acceptable at the time, like me ,im catholic but a big rangers supporter,

  • You love the Prods? Right, so you take sides in a conflict between 2 Christian faiths, killing eachother for years.

But you have a problem with a film that's harmed no-one. What a good Christian you are!

  • Yes, I love prods, muslims, pagans, athiests, Hindus, etc. I have a problem with film taking the piss out of the crucifixion and the Gospels. So whats your problem?

  • Fair enough.

I have a problem with people with no sense of irony who advocate censorship. Which bit of the film took the piss out of the gospels? You say "The crucifixion"- singular? So no-one apart from Jesus was ever crucified?

  • I don't believe in censorship.I think the film should be allowed. I was making a comment of objection in that I believe that there are parallels to the gospel which are mocking. What's wrong with a comment!

  • There's nothing wrong with a comment, all credit to you for trying to clarify what your point was. Still don't quite get what the issue with mocking is. I don't think the gospel was mocked, in what way do you think it was? The films message (if there is one) is think for yourself, don't blindly follow, what's wrong with that?

  • It hard to explain if you can see it straight away.I think it was meant to be satire but it borders on mocking as all of the scenes are exactly as the Gospel writes except with Brian as the mistaken Messiah.I believe that the monty team knew this would cause a stir in Christians.

  • That's no surprise, it's not as if all Christians have the same viewpoint. You look at the US Christian right, it's hard to match that up with Jesus' teachings. If someone take offence, shouldn't the whole "turn the other cheek" thing come into play?

  • I think 'turn the other cheek' has a deeper meaning.for instance I think that the UN peacekeepers use force to keep peace by not turning the other cheek.Personally I think it means 'not to seek revenge'.non christians can interpret the Gospel accurately too.

  • UN peacekeepers aren't acting as Christian representatives. I respect Jesus' message, but don't think he'd be pleased with religious institutions. The CoE being one of the biggest landowners in the UK for example- smells of hypocrisy. The institutions & dogma are totally fair game

  • Alas,I was just making the point that most Christians believe in force to gain peace just as UN do.I personally believe in stopping the likes of Stalin or Hitler even though I am a Christian.

  • slippery slope that, when it has the whiff of a crusade. Will make this my last comment as we're moving from Monty Python to Hitler & Stalin!

I'll let adayinthelife have their page back

  • thanx, it was an interesting debate. have a good un. Nero

  • You awful, awful person...that is such an awful to thing to say that I actually feel sick...& you say you're a religious person??? Dear god... :(

    x

  • What's awful about an opinion. Am I awful because you don't agree? I don't remember saying I was religious! Maybe i did imply it. You must be very intolerant to others' beliefs. That's bigotry.

  • No, you're awful for what you said about Graham "burning in hell", voice your opinion by all means but please don't be so nasty & horrible over it...you can get your point accross without upsetting his fans, surely that wouldn't be too hard? What if someone had said that over someone who you'd lost & cared about..or even liked???

But judging by your comments, it seems unlikely that you're fond of anyone...

  • I agree with you, it was a pretty awful thing to say and I apologise if I offended his fans. However, I'm not really awful person and I love comedy and satire but I draw the line at life of brian.

  • It's funny how significant you think your comments are.

Your qualms with Monty Python knowing the movie would cause a stir with Christians when mocking the bible (which they clearly did not, if you actually watched the movie) is reminiscent of you going onto a Graham Chapman video and saying how much you hate him when obviously fans would not appreciate it.

It's a novel idea, but I'd say if you want respect you should try showing it.

  • Then Life of Brian fans don't care about your Christian ideologies. See what I mean? No one's going to care about what you have to say if you're going to spout nonsense about actors going to Hell. Trust me, no one gives a shit online, just like they don't in real life.

I suggest you look into the film instead of watching it with preconcieved notions.

And if you have a problem with Life of Brian, then why say things like that on a video that has nothing to do with that particular film?

  • A christian person can't say that kind of things. You're taking the role of God, not only by sending someone to hell, but defending God! Who told you God needs to be defended because of a movie? God can be defeat with a movie? Not even the bible... Long live to Chapman!

  • Fair comment. I wasn't defending God but merely excercising my right to comment. However, I do regret some of the things I said but I was trying to make a point. Although I hardly think God was waiting at the pearly gates with a glass of champagne for Graham, as I think the life of Life of brian is a major Blasphemy to the Christian GOD .

  • Seriously doubt the clergy and church members to-date will also be welcomed by God - the lack of Christianity has shown it's ugliness as an "insurance policy" for the weak, hateful and fearful. I tend want to give the Almighty more common sense than I've witnessed at the hands of man, countries and religion. How many ways can "Thou shall not kill" be interpreted? Ask a NeoCon RNC member - they've written amendments to the 10 Commandments!

  • Your comment has a certain wisdom to it. I do agree that "Thou shalt not kill" has many interpretations. Most Christians agree with this I'm sure.

  • I don't want to take too long as my final paper is due tomorrow and I should be doing that instead of this, but I'll just leave by saying i don't think it was right of you to say Graham is burning in Hell. If you have a genuine qualm then say it, but keep the extreme opinions to yourself.

  • Life of Brian is extreme comedy so I have no qualm with extreme comments. I'm afraid you're too sensitive to Youtube comments.

  • Love it when chapman tries to supress a smile at 2:54 :)

  • Where is that from do you know?

    x

  • Im afraid I don't know.

Do pm me if you find it ^^

  • It's just the cutest.

  • Ok, it's maybe a cliche, but Monty Python is one of the most groundbreaking comedy groups of all time. They must have somehow infuenced all the great comedians of today: Walliams and Lucas, French and Saunders, Gervais, Catherine Tate, Smack the Pony, Julia Davis, etc, etc...

When your material is still hilarious after almost 40 years, there must be some comedy genius present.

    Great song by the way.

  • Two GREAT comedians and fab blokes...

  • We love you Graham! Rest in peace!!!

  • cute

  • Which interview was the last bit from?

  • this is really sweet.

  • I refuse to argue with you any longer on this forum as it is simply mindless insults. Also, out of respect for people trying to watch a good film about two of the greatest comedic minds who ever lived, i don't want to muck up the comments when it should be people who are complimenting the video. So, my last word to you is: Fuck off.

    Thanks.

  • well said

  • Who gives a shit about your point of view

  • I wouldn't expect a monty fan to repect others comments. You are probably a bigot and intolerant to others comments.Maybe you'd like only comment that you agree with on this comment page. You would be a great censor. This was the attitude in WW2 in Nazi Germany!

  • Nazi germany? hmm, i guess thats the worst you could come up with you self loathing bastard

  • Then why'd you click on it in the first place? To piss off python fans? shut your festering gob you tit. Your kind make me puke you vacuous, toffy-nosed, maleodorous pervert.

Now go away or i shall taunt you a second time.

  • Ohhhhhh, don't get your knickers in a twist.... Ohhhhhhh

  • How do you know what it's like until you click on it? If you don't click then you'll never know and therefore you cannot comment. I believe in seeing before judging.

  • the title is "Graham Chapman/ Terry Jones Tribute."

I find that pretty self explanatory you tit.

And you haven't 'seen' every python fan out there, so how can you judge them all by saying they are all morons? HMMMM. Imbecile.

  • my goodness, what a clever insult! Any two morons! wow, bravo! It would be a mighty insult to call me a moron if I were not Oxford-bound, but as it was... But for the sake of an argument, say I was a moron. It would almost be as bad as being a pathetic 48 year old who has nothing better to do than argue with teenage python fans...almost. Actually I would much rather be a moron.

  • I'm glad you would rather be a 30 year old Moron.

I didn't know you regarded yourself as a teenager. Boy, are you retarded or what?

  • im 18 you tit, not 30. I actually don't really know why my profile says 30. Oh well. But I'm 18, and IDGRA.

  • I enjoyed the debate; you won a few and so did I. Maybe there is a good Phyton fan out there after all. Happy Phytoning....... Nero from Ireland

  • Please tell me I'm not the only one to get the joke here? Laughing Out Loud!

  • awsome!

  • Who is the artist doing the song?

  • Flogging Molly.

  • that's the best thing i ever saw..flogging molly are almost as amazing as graham & terry

  • 00:29 is my fav^^ just cute ohoh and of course 3:02^__^

  • Ya, 00:29 is really cute!

  • I really enjoyed that. I guess Terry can watch this and go to bed with his young, Swedish girlfriend. Bastard.

  • well congratulations you have made an incredibly useful contribution to the internet.

  • I do my best!

  • nerodollinger? Aren't you the ultra-christian chap who was fighting on the Life of Brian clip too? Don't you have a life? Or a sense of humor? Don't you have anything better to do than sit on the computer insulting the guys who defined comedy as we know it today?

Well, you are 48 years old and fighting with people on youtube. How do you feel about this?

  • Part1: no,I'm not ultra christian Whatever that is.Are you an Ultra anti-christian! ?Yes,I have a life and an excellent sense of humour. Yes I have better things to do than comment on and reply on YouTube but This open forum gives everyone a chance to comment on things to agree with or disagree. Being 48 gives me a more qualified approach to critisising this type of comedy as it made during my time. All monty python are either older or the same age as me.

  • oh didn't see those other comments. Nope not an anti christian. Calm down, just asking.

Anyways, monty python coming out when you were a kid doesnt make you more qualified to argue about it you tit. That doesnt even make sense. We're all still watching the same monty python regardless of when it came out.

  • part2: Can you please explain the term 'fighting with people on Youtube? What does this mean? Also,Who defines comedy as we know it today? Surely the listener defines whats funny and what's not

  • and part two, you cant have much of a brain if you dont know what i mean by fighting with people on youtube. Then again you did find monty python to be mindless and idiotic, so you showed that before you posted this.

By "fighting with people on youtube" i mean you come here and post clearly hostile remarks that are aimed at people who like the video. And don't think i didnt see 800 posts on the life of brian video that kept saying monty python hates christians. Get it?

  • Flogging Molly? I think Spirit of the west was influenced by them, they sound very similar. Great tribute.

  • I love it. They're both my favorites too.

It's kinda slashy though, isn't it? I mean I know it's supposed to be sweet, but, well I guess they did a lot of slashy sketches. Sorry if I misinterpret!

  • Grat, love the song. But the bloke sat next to Terry when he's got the jesters hat on is Alan Bennet

  • Who is the band? Singer? (sounds like flogging Molly)

  • Really cute! congrats man, you did a great job

  • Great man, really. Terry Jones is my favorite !!!

    Thanks for sharing

  • Oh its Super Super!!! RIP Graham

  • Well done .I didnt know terry jones passed away as well...

  • He didn't. Graham and Terry are my favorite Pythons, though, so I wanted to do a tribute to both of them at the same time.

  • yeah, it was very poignant. great song, great clips. terry and graham were my favorite, too. well, done.

  • Very moving, great pics and vids, thanks a lot.

  • Awesome post, super cute, excellent images and pictures. Thank you SO much, it's made my day many times over!

  • That really was beautiful. Thank you for posting it.

  • Really beautiful, hon. Thanks for posting it on the Pythonslash board. Very touching in that silly sort of way. :)

  • I agree, that was really cute. Terry and Graham are awesome.

  • That was cute, very well done. I love the song as well. Flogging Molly is awesome.

By the way where are those black and white clips from? I've always been kind of curious.

  • Nice tribute.
