I think his theory about consciouness lacks support, while that of Dennet seems to be quite valid.

@larbo1616 Dennet famousy wrote a book caled "consciousness explained" in which the word consciosness appeared about 3 times. An example of how physicalists change the subject when faced with their evident inability to explain something so obvious in our experience.

Dennett claims that total data of consciousness= 1. Why does subject say he experiences x? + 2. All objective events in brain and surrounding environment.. I.E. we acts AS IF subject has subjective states by including 1. (like treating a chess program like a person you play with as conveniemnt fiction, acts AS IF it has intention

@larbo1616 Of course ;like all of the materialisst views of consciousness its always plausible but like peter says in the vid on this issue thinking must begin with our deepest reality and intuition when we faithfully reflect on it i.e. we are awareness, spiritual beings inhabiting body-minds not body mind aspiring to be spiritual beings. In short we need an ontology which connects mattter, structures, consciousness and spirit since its all one non-dual reality.

Infact, to get a truer view of physics' view of matter and relaity then look at what Quantum physics is saying about reality, which is fundamenatlly saying that its all consciousness in so many words-i dont think these materialist philosophers of mind engage with Quantum physics and so they still assume a newtonian hard matter view of reality

@larbo1616 Well, analytic philosophy of mind has generateda huge amount of speculation of consciousness, AI has conspicuously been unable to come up with a workable paradigm all to no avail so the metaphor would be that we are in an alien territory, with a map that doesn't correspond to the territory at all. But scintists don/t really know what energy is, a basic aspect of physics so its all quite mysreious in some sense

@fizywig Have you ever heard about the book "I am a strange loop" by Douglas Hofstadter? He comes up with the idea that our mind (and thus consciousness) is made up of some kind of loop. I sent an e-mail to Bruce Rosenblum, author of "The Quantum Enigma" and physicist, who told me that this was just a simple idea. One that is neither proven nor generally accepted. I think there should be a BIG CONSCIOUSNESS PROJECT.

That there is starvation in the world, cannot be used to say there is no point in contemplation. That starvation exists because we fail to see the connection between us all -- not just humans -- but this creation, its beings. Starvation is mostly human created.
