  • whats the song in the background?

  • perfect technique. very good. hard man.

  • Jason, any chance we'll see a video over 100kg one of these days?

  • Holy sh*t you could literally grab me with one arm and throw me in the air! ahaha

  • Total respect!

  • fucking awesome

  • HOLYFUCKINGSHITTHATWASAMAZING!!!!!

  • i paused the video at 0:04 and read the comments. Went back up and started the video again and spent approximately 10 seconds wondering if you were an amputee...it was freaking me out!!

But you're not, just a normal four limbed person who can one arm snatch alot of weight. :-/

  • do you still throw?

  • thats power.

  • holy shit watch out for your toes!

  • That's real strength right there!

  • Impressive !

  • Really, really awesome. I've been looking at one arm snatches on here for an hour, trying to find examples of good form to emulate, and this is the best I've seen.

  • holy shit dude, hahahaha, sick

  • awesome! really impressive. gratz from france bud'!

  • Great job man. I only have ome-arm and I'm slowly building up to this. Great job!

  • well....im impressed something i hope to work on after i get better at 1 arm deadlifts

  • Dam!!

That big fucker could toss my arse through the celing!

    (in theory)

  • wow that dude is a FREAK

  • Thats massive!

  • holy crap...you're a beast!

  • This works your EVERYTHING!

    Sick power. Nice work dude!

  • wat does it work??

  • holy fuck

  • Now that's impressive.

  • You are a fuckin beast. RESPECT. This is one of the best lifts I've seen on youtube period and all I do is look at bodybuilding vids all day. Thats prolly why :p lol. Great form.

  • Thanks a lot. I threw 67.86m in 2006 and 65.84m in 2008 and I am looking to find my way past my pb during the 2010 season. Good luck with your throws

  • the key to beat pb is not to over train...both (gym&discus) u have to stop after u see and feel that u can't bench press more then u have at the peak of the practice, ... i throw 12-15 throws in training twice a week and all must be over 50m when it's going under i stop u should do the same but ur's must be say over 60-62m u will see that the body heals better and with will make u stronger and in result better stronger throws. good man keep it up

  • Best one hand snatch on `utube`. If you hadn't have placed your hand on the floor. I would have passed you in competition. (what is your body weight? (I did 75kg one hand snatch @ 81kg body weight)) on all one handed lifts on this site, there is none with any technique.( Technique = Poundage) You stand head and shoulders above anyone else that I have seen.

From a BAWLA 4 times single arm British Weightlifting Champion. From the 1980's.

  • At this time i was 120k and I my best lift was 102.5k. Thanks for the kind words. I am a discus thrower and this is great fun for training. Usually I can do 90k now at any time with no hand touch. My pb lift is on some camera cassette and I wish I could post it. This one had a hand touch as well though. The most that I have done with no touch is 100k.

  • Lose the strap for a stronger grip. did`nt see it earlier naughty me.

  • Nice. Now the other arm.

  • Very impressive. Just curious, how much can you do with a dumbell?

  • I have not found a db that is heavy enough to see? Some people think that db is harder but I would say that with both ways there are some ad/disad. I would like to try one day, I think that i could do 200+? I dead lifted the Thomas Inch DB replica on the first try. I think that weight was not too heavy (176) but limited pulling only by grip. I have snatched a 50lb blob/ broken half DB end. Honestly with a DB I have no clue how far past 200 I could go.

  • u lifted the inch on the first try AND u snatched a blob?? wow u got a helluva grip there man...nice work!!

  • Ironmind Sells some "Big Boy Dumbbells" virtually the same as the dumbbell Paul Anderson used to 1 Arm Press 300.

It fits standard plates, not olympic ones. Those are easy to pick up at any used sports store for cheap.

    A Dumbbell is Much easier.

  • i disagree that the db is easier, the weight must stay further away from the body, creating a mechanical disadvantage due to leverage. Once you get used to balancing the barbell i think it is easier, plus oly bars are 28mm while heavy db's are almost always fatter in comparison, so if youre not using straps it is much more taxing on the grip. Opinions vary, but this one is mine. I weigh less than 200 pounds and my 1 arm bb snatch is 155 but my db snatch is 130, both strapless

  • LOl the guy in the back pointing at the end

  • omg thats just crazy i see it and still can't believe it XD, nice job man you are a beast!!!

  • WTF thats fuckin sickk

  • Just Brilliant!

  • seriously insane

  • holy tits....

  • very good and athletic, specifically as ur not an olympic lifter, i assume u must squat snatch around 180 k, exceptional stuff!

  • omg, haha thats good! i would try that man but i dont wanna die.haha

  • that was highly impressive, do you perform a lot of oylmpic style

lifts in your traning? ive started doing these only with dumbells. can i ask what weight and height are you? what is your maximum single snatch?

  • thats fuckin AMAZING!

  • Very nice man, so much props to you.

  • good job man

  • no fuckin way...

  • you beast! awesome athleticism

  • wow this is amazing jason well done, i managed 50 kg at this the other day this is high level stuff for someone that only trains in olympic style lifts for something else, i wd love to know what u throw!!!

  • Thanks man. My pr in discus is 67.86m or 222'8

  • WOW ! THAT IS WORLD CLASSS.... well done... i noticed some people critisize this ?????!!!!! lol stupid only athletes like ourselves (well you) lol notice the hard training required for this stuff, i do discus i do 35 meters (any good)? :D im 16 and weigh 65 kg tho (lanky lol!)

  • 2 kg ye? this is mikeyburger 3 btw

  • Is this a common lift for discus throwers?

  • WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • this is real fukin impressive.... damnnnn

  • insane man!

  • holy shit.

  • Wow. That's an impressive lift. I hope you have more videos to post.

  • Whats the purpose of jumping during the lift?

  • I am not attempting to jump. This is just the result of applying force to the ground and it getting transfered to the bar. The weight here is not that heavy.on heavier lifts I have to stay grounded longer in big force with slower velocity. As a coach, i dont teach nor practice jumping in olympic lifts, or throws. i feel that lifting the legs in hip flexion is a result of making a full and powerful hip extension. The lifting of the legs forward should be a natural and postural controlling move.

  • i have never seen a lift like this. you have sensational strength, balance, and explosion. Great Job

  • That was bananas.

  • bloody hell thats insane

  • koooolll

  • my jaw has dropped

  • This is a nephillim masquerading as a human. And he sort of just skips off after he did it. Insane power.

  • This is ALLTIME WORLD CLASS ! incredible, the highest of respect to you ..

  • don't get me wrong this was absolutely amazing! but whats the point in this?

  • Kaden56 this type of lift develops far superior strength, power, athletic ability, to lifts such as bench press, curls, any type of machine work now my question to you is what is the point of those exercises?

  • Very impressive. Not just the strength, but also the balance needed to perform this lift.

  • very impressive

  • AWESOME STUFF !

  • Hey Jason, i am a strength coach for the football team at Tech. I venture down to the bubble every now and then to pick up supplements and stuff and of course Midnight Maneuevers. I knew the room looked familiar. Is this you in the video?

  • Funny enough, I have probably seen you around before. Yeah that's me in the clip. I'd like to meet you one day. You should come by during your free time, well if there's any left in the FTC!

  • That was incredible man, great work.

  • is this at Texas Tech? I swear this is the weight room in the bubble.

  • Yeah dude, this is the weightroom in the BUBBLE. I am the strength coach for the Texas Tech Track and Field teams. My name is Jason Young. Are you a fellow Red Raider? Funny enough, this is a video taken pre our latest renovations. We were lucky enough to secure a $300,000 donation to improve our Strength and conditioning facilities for Olympic Sports. What are your memories form the bubble?

  • holy shit man.

  • George Hackenschmidt would be proud.

  • i would rip my arm off the sockets doing that lol

  • Sick... Good job

  • *jaw dropped*, that's wicked sick! :D

  • That's the real deal man, great job.

  • INCREDIBLE

  • Try without the strap...wink wink. I still give you props.

  • Actually my all-time pr without straps and open grip (no hook) is 90k. Without strap and no hook + no drop (power catch)= 85k. The day that this lift was recorded I hit 90k X 5 reps. I can usually do 90k w/ strap anytime and 80k w/o anytime.

  • That was pretty fucking twisted. Doing that shit with a barbell is for real men, way to go dude!

  • I decided to do these after watching your video. I'm up to 95 lb haha. But I swear I'm no chump (450 lb squat). I'm beginning to realize strength doesnt always equal power. And captain, I need more power

  • Anyone know the world record for this lift?

  • unbelievable man well done!

  • very very impressive lift, and i must comment on fabulous technique precision and power (speed)!!!! was amazing, one of the most impressive lifts, what are you full snatching dare i ask because that is unbelievable!? :L

  • one of the most impressive lifts ive seen!!

    Sick!!!

  • Exactly, Sick!!

  • you my friend are asking for trouble. an injury is waiting to happen. You are very strong.

  • How would you know? It seems that this comment board lends itself to highly prickish douchebag comments, with no/limited experience in elite level athletics. Many have commented about the safety of this lift but from the view of athletes I train and myself, there is less potential for shoulder girdle problems. This is based on the fact that the opposite arm doesn't lock you into certain injurous positions and the athlete acutally has more degrees of freedom to escape the bar on a miss. Thanks?

  • thanks for calling my comment douchebag, i didnt insult u in anyway possible, however i do know you are asking for trouble, how do i know u asked me! well it happened to my frienad at the gym.

  • You are responding but not learning. How many Baseball pitchers have to get Tommy John surgery? What about baskeball players and ACL's or Sprinters with pulled hams. How many guys do you know that have gone for max benches and tore a pec? Does every NFL football player get paralyzed for life or every Nascar driver die in fatal accident? NO! One persons injury doesn't verify danger of a lift. I have done this lift 10 years, no injuries. But I did cut open my toe on the curb a 2 months ago!

  • Damn dude, can you post a slow motion clip? This is awesome!

    RESPECT.

  • Amazing feat of strength. That is awesome.

  • Fucking ridiculous. You, my friend, are a beast

  • You bet^^^

I've never seen anything even remotely close.

  • No joke there! I only do 85, nearly did 95. I dont fall under the weight though. I'm also new to the move, and 16. Still, Goerner did 110 when he was 14. Mostly I'm good a curlers, my max preacher being 60 and normal db curl being 90(110lb if I cheat). And yes, its weight per dumbell not combined. How much you do?

  • Ebuverthebicepcurler - Its 90 kg he did though not pounds mate, big difference.

  • I was talking about myself there- BTW, I did a very bad 95lb one yesterday so I'm 10lb better. I know he did 198lb, dont worry.

  • Nevermind his lifting, what's the name of this song?

  • Junky crap played at gym to lessen concentration.

  • I love seeing old-time lifts still used today. It wasn't uncommon to see a one-arm snatch for reps with well over 200 pounds 80-90 years ago, but those guys trained for it constantly. VERY impressive for the modern era, Jason.

  • what is your personal best with both hands?I am curious to see the margin.

  • I found hard to believe this is over 60 kilos. Is it?Honestly now...

  • yes it is 90k. I can usually do this weight almost any time. Sorry you don't think it is true but some great shotputters like Mike Stulce could do 100k for reps. My pr is only 102.5k.

  • Holy shit that is badass!

  • STRONG!!!!

  • that is fucking incredible bruv.. some superhuman shit

  • thats really impressive, ive never seen that before.

  • Maybe you should become a lifter. USA is short on remarkable discus throwers and weightlifters, but weightlifters even more so I gather.

  • Sorry but I the last ten years or so of throws training are starting to pay off big. To become a great olympic lifter, I would need too much more time to be good.

  • you should try the Thomas Inch Dumbell.

  • I tried at 2004 CSCCA Conference. Picked it up twice, won 50 bucks, butI only deadlifted it.

  • great job Brother, your discus will fly this year good luck in meets

  • my goodness..thats incredible

  • thats fucking sweet! kick ass power... whats your power snatch... two hand lol... max?

  • Props. You kick ass.

  • dude thats just fucking incredible

  • your strengths explosive!

  • He's using a hook grip right?

  • I am using a strap here. My best without a strap with open grip is 87.5k and with the strap 102.5k. Since I'm not a lifter, I rarely use the hook grip.

  • was this in huntsville al ?

  • Lubbock, Texas

  • wow, great work

    seriously impressive

  • Now that is what I call freaking REDONKULOUS!!! I have seen many lifting videos on YouTube, but that is by far one of the most impressive.

  • he looked like he could break himself.

  • his power level...ITS OVER 9000!!!

  • oh you, your silly

  • holy fuck thats not normal!

  • hoooooly fuck, props man, props.

  • oh! nice!

  • That. Was. Awesome.

  • Jason that's ridiculous. :)

  • WTF!?

  • I've seen (and done) a lot of crazy weight in the gym before. But it has never even crossed my mind to do a snatch like that. Kudos, my friend. That was badass. I am going to start working on this today.

  • Probably the most impressive lift I've ever seen.

  • and dont say anything if u dont know shit dumbass.

  • wow u dont know anything lol. jason young is a olympian discus thrower noob. 1 hand snatch builds up the explosion needed to throw the discus. he probably does regular snatches too, just adds this on so he can work on one side more. dumbass noob.

  • Why is it stupid. He obviously handles the weight.

  • what difference dose it make to you? Your the type of person that is so straight its anoying. Probably the type that puts claims in at every opertunity.

  • ooo my name is jason young thats cool

  • Wow I typed my own name in U tube to see what would pop up, (my name is Jason Young also) and WoW thats awsome!!! I'll have to start pumping iron to keep the good name of Jason Young Strong in all parts of the world :)

  • what the fuck man

  • this is insane. I'm a strong guy, but I don't think I can do that much in a two handed snatch, much less one handed with such stabilty. Fucking awesome.

  • then obviously you arent such a strong guy after all.

  • lmao richie!! dont worry bro ill get your comment out of the red with my reps <3

    piitb(no lube)(no homo)

  • *reps your comment*

    (no rep trade)

    fap fap fap

  • very impressive.

  • I KNOW HIM! His wife is my coach! Hahaha :]]

  • come caaaaaaaaaazzo fà bhooooooooo

  • hey hulk, u is the hulk right? DAMN DUDE WTF lol

  • That's incredible! How much can u clean with both arms and how much do u weigh?

  • I havn't really done a clean max since 2001. I hit 175k hang clean but now I usually don't do that lift anymore. I have trained at around 190k from the floor, just clean no jerk. I have done high pulls up to 210k X 3 reps. I think that I could do 200k clean if I maxed but the clean is hard on my long arms (mostly elbows). So as for big lifts, I just do pulls mostly so that I can continue to throw and make recovery.
