Well I love little KT XD I own one and I <3 him to death lol even though he is already dead XDDD' But I do like it how they used the two pets to donate money. But I think you guys should look upon the internet and tv better then you do. We can learn grate things on there and in the real world to. It brings the world to gether and make some what peace to other countries. + theres nothing like to blow up hordes or do some pvp after a stressful day of school <3
That's right to a certain extent, but it's actually a marketing thing. Do you think Bill Gates really gives to charity with good heart? Maybe so - maybe just a little.
In reality, when a company "goes green" or "gives to charity" or "helps needy children", they do it because it gives them good press. What annoys me is, Blizzard went a little bit like this.
1- Let's do charity so people say good things about us!
Yeah I see your points and of course it isn't Blizzard just being nice, it's Blizzard being smart.
But lets face it honestly. Any money they earn from these pet sales (and from what I know they're only donating money from the Pandaren one? I may be wrong) is really just pocket change compared to the money they get from subscriptions and other services.
Yeah, admittedly they are getting money from this and it's a exercise/sale that really wouldn't cost them much to do.
You can't ignore the fact that Blizzard isn't being 100% selfless in this. Obviously they care about whats in it for them and seeing as this donation is only up until December? They might have been better to give full proceeds for this period. 50% for ever would be okay with me.
But I think good on them at least for donating SOMETHING, it's something people want and will pay for and yeah it benefits Blizzard and it benefits the Charity. It's smart cause they'll get more sales because of this.
You can see it like that, but corporate charity is an hidden form of greed. They wouldn't do it if they didn't think that money would come back to them exponentially by the fact that it makes their company's image better.
I'm completely fine with flat out capitalism greed. It's how the world works. I'm glad the money actually goes to charity, that's fine.
The framework of it is greed, though, just like many people give money to charity because it's good for their taxes!
Doesn't matter if bill gates isn't sincere when he gives money. Fact is both he and his wife are in the top 3 donators to charity in the world, and it's all that matters, some people just don't like the idea that big capitalist assholes give more money to charity then them.
It also shaves off money from your taxes. The more you give to charity the more you can deduct from taxes. I agree with you, though the means to which the company does this are totally selfish... they do indeed end up helping. So it's a win win situation. I'd rather have companies that end up helping for less taxes or good press, other than others who don't help at all.
I wouldn't have said anything if they had flat out charged $10 for it. I would have been annoyed, it's a gimmick that sells for $10... But fine, blizzard/capitalism. They dare take a 50% cut on charity because they definitely need that cut, right... I mean, this is so ridiculous. If you're going to do charity, do it right. How much does it cost to resize KT's graphic and make it a pet that does simple actions? Not much... Nothing that would make sense of charging $5 for that garbage.
lockerz(dot)com is a site where you can gather ptz points by answering ,playing or simply logging in to your free account ,with these points you can redeem some valuable prizes(like ipods,ps3,xbox360,macbook,etc...PM me in youtube if you are interested and i will instantly send you an invetation..you cant join unless you are invited from a member
I just think it's lame Blizzard asks for money for something that could have easily been included free in the game. It's not like they aren't rich already
Cool, atleast their charity makes a difference for people now, then just instead making a pixel NPC none cares/benefits from, except Blizz who gets PR.

Or they could just not do anything for charity and nobody would criticize them because they would have never brought up the idea.
You shouldn't see it as them taking some money for themselves, but instead them giving some money to a charity.

billgates is also a little different. he has given over 50% of his lifetime income to charity. thats way more than you will ever give.
