How to record vocal covers with Windows Movie Maker

may i noe wad devices do people use to record their covers on song?i tried to use my laptop webcam but the sound that comes out really sucks...my voice sounds like a kid...i don't have a mic so any recommendations?

@screamobeast You would take your camera and record you doing the whole cover. Then you would take that .mov file and convert it so you can import it into windows movie maker. Then you can edit the video to match the audio. Publish it then you're done.

OH MY GOD! I love you! Thank you SOOO much! :) I've been dieing to learn how to do this the right way! I always got the MP3 for the karaoke, then I recorded my voice seperate. Then I tried to slide my voice behind the karaoke version so it would play together but it never let me move it far enough back. Oh my God that you so much!

I have the same problem. The problem is the soundcard. Some people have a rather slow soundcard that causes a delay in the recording anywhere from 25 milliseconds to 200 milliseconds. What you can do is after recording your voice, edit the audio by sliding it around the timeline in Windows Movie Maker until it is synced properly.

@GuitarHeroPianoZero Actually with audacity you can adjust latency correction by going to the recording tab in preferences (or options, whatever it is called on windows) and setting how many milliseconds the delay in recording is. What that does is when you finish recording a track, it automatically moves the track back to compensate for latency. I don't know if windows movie maker has a similar function though.

If you're trying to convert the MP3 to a video, then that's my bad actually. I forgot to mention in the video that you need to put something in the video tab (a picture, title, whatever. it doesn't matter) in order for it to convert to a video. Otherwise it just changes it into a WMA file.
