Omg, I'm so glad I don't live in Kansas, tornados are a bad fear of mine.. /: I would hide under the bridge too if I had no where to go, the only thing that could happen would be the bridge collapsing, if it was the middle of the bridge that collapsed then they would most likely be okay... But this is the first time I'm hearing about these tornados. This is bad /:
Im reading about how the bridge was a bad place to go. I think the people under the bridge were better off than the people thrown about in their cars.We were told if you were in a car and a tornado appeared out of nowhere, which they do, get to a bridge if possible since these things are unpredictable and change direction + speed at will. I was lucky enough to be at home when this tornado hit our backyard, even from the safety of our basement it still shook us to the core + the video does still
McConnell Air Force Base is where my dad has been working since i was born....I love that place...he's told me stories about this tornado but i always forget them...Thanks for posting this on here.
hey. as a kid growing up i have always been interested in tornadoes and especially watching home movies of them. but this tornado by far was the one that caught my interest the most because of the amazing footage i have seen of it. thank you very much for posting this video. its great to see it and hear the narration of news reporters from that very day. thanks again. looking forward to seeing more footage from you.

"the tornado was weak(of course)" Weak? It was an EF5 for crying out loud! That's the most destructive tornado there is!

at 6:19 they're damn lucky that tornado skimmed them. Hiding under an overpass... Horrible Idea.
Thanks for posting though, very interesting.

Agree, it's NOT a safe place to take refuge from a tornado.
Hovever, this was a baby tornado.

The tornado actually missed the bridge.
And the rotation looks fairly intense.

@151L107 Really?! Tell that to Andover please. I was there and there was nothing "baby" about it!
Jettarock 10 months ago
@nenny189 there are many reasons why they survived:
1. the tornado was weak(of course)
2. they got hit by the south side of the tornado(the weakest side of the tornado)
3. the unique shape of the underpass
