  • He could totally win a staring contest..

  • why are these ions and not compunds?

  • Anyone else notice he doesn't blink?!

  • its not sulfate...its sulphate....

  • he look's like a physical education teacher and like all P.E teacher's ,look retarded as fuck.

  • @jonathan3979701 good one bro, some advice dont become a comic and dont post another comment ever.

  • naaah hes not that hot..

  • He is hot, not smart. Technique to memorize it? Gosh!

  • You are HOT... lol

  • Sure beats staring hopelessly at my list of polyatomics. Thanks a bunch!

  • douche fuck

  • This dude is the DUDE!!!

  • I'd hit it

  • suck it up bro. :O but i dont want to suck

  • I just write this shit on a gum wrapper and midway through the test I get a sweet tooth :)

  • @mikooou lol i like ur methods! fail

  • you don't give us enough time to copy everything! you only give us a few seconds. :(

  • @Nrisagieri Dude, pause button.

  • thanks so much!!!!!!!! :) hopefully i do well on the test on these the day after tomorrow :(

  • love the little half smile at the end but thanks :)

  • 7 ppl failed their test

  • he looks like john cina llol instead of chemistry teacher but its good he choose chemistry instead of WWE

  • thanks for the tips you really helped =)

  • You look like my football coach in high school. Thanks for the help btw.

  • haha you dont look like a chemist!

  • lmao didn't even notice the name was "midnighttutor".. looked at my clock - 12:29 am. Damn he's good

  • i thought the chlorate said chocolate for a second

it's late and my brain is fried

  • @willhelm87miles i thought it was chocolate too for a while

  • The technique helped a lot. Thanks a lot! Took me about 20 mins to get all of my anions down. Now for the cations, bases and acids!

  • hey can you upload any of these for organics?

    and this helped thnx :)

  • thenks this might help

  • thankes you are awesome

  • GREAT VID. THANKS ALOT.

  • I hate chemistry.

  • this is kind of obvious. darn i was hoping for one that required less work :D lazy me.

  • Thanks!! This is gonna save me for my big test on Friday, muchas gracias!!

  • Excellent advice, thank you.

  • you can be my midnight tutor...

  • Comment removed

  • can you say that in spanish?

  • I see the names correctly... The one under bicarbonate, is that hypochlorite?? Can someone post a list of it?

  • Hahahaha did you hear how he said nomenclature?? What a fool hahaha

  • ur so cool =) thanks

  • So what's your midnight tutoring fee lol???? ;)

  • Damn I wish my professor was this HOT. Adorable, and thanks for the tip. :)

  • that's what i did for my first quiz and i got an A!

  • im glad your teaching me something

cause my teacher sure isnt, everything is over the internet, so im glad he told us one thing.. that he obviously cant do it 8-)

  • Ur so adorable very helpful

  • rote memorization... hmm... this won't help me much.

  • Unspeakable badd-ass! Thank you.

  • thanks.......

  • 5/5! Thanks! I love to learn more and more each day! I love chemistry and physics! It's a real shame... I didn't have any good teachers, especially the ones who didn't know any English!

  • you forgot dimercury or whatever it's called (Hg subscript 2/superscript +2). I've never actually seen it in a chemical formula but it's good to know it.

Also note the Chlorate/Chlorite/Perchlorate/Hypochlorate groups, these can be used with Br and I and the charge is still the same.

Great video though, I wish I had this when I was taking AP Chem.

  • lol its funny cuz my test is tomorrow and its midnight right now

  • @personwhosnowboards oh i know! it's funny here too... except it's a quiz and 9 o clock.

  • @personwhosnowboards lol 2 years later and im having the same predicament right now lol

  • This is really a great video on memorizing. I will definately use this.

  • Thanks for the tip, midnighttutor, this is going to help me so much!

  • Thank you!!! I have been reeading my text book ALL DAY but you did more for me in 30 minutes. Great memory tip.

  • I wish my professor was as attractive as you.

  • @swordofisis hahah myabe it wouldn't be a good idea. you would be too distracted

  • @swordofisis Ugaybro?

  • @hatzblue ehhh...I'm not a molecule....I dont like labels.

  • @swordofisis i know , i would totally passed if he was my teacher

  • I wish I could actually read the Chemical Names :(

  • maybe someday chad will fix the comments so I can actually reply to this idiotic comment

  • Which comment in particular?

I wish youtube didn't have the txt limitations. It could be the best video/blog/discussion ever made.

I always welcome feed back for my comments/actions. Unlike others I realize that my way of thinking is different from those of others, I am very grateful and accept that.

Comments that are perceived as idiotic by some, only shows that viewpoints differ from person2person. Who's right will never matter or change our way of life and I am lucky to understand that.

  • @FenderMike1428

You can also click on full screen so you can see them bigger. :)

  • A++ I know you would have made Quantum mechanics/theory/numbers much easier if you had a video for it. It's sad that my or every school for that matter doesn't utilize the web or some basic technology in general, like you do. It should be required, and teachers need to be taught and graded how well they are able to present the material with what they have learned. This is 2009, not 1989, and so much more can be taught and retained in a shorter period of time with better methods of instruction.

  • you da man, great idea!

  • Wow, very cool for one person to teach Chemistry, Basic math, Calculus, Basic Physics, and then jump to Orbital Mechanics/astrodynamics.

    Great job.

    (Lack of Math+Science=US Recession=infinite debt)

America needs to stops paying for sub-par students to go to college for liberal arts and Business degrees. Those subjects should be minors or only available to those with at least a >3.5gpa. Enough is enough, make this the best country in the world, again.

  • ....but lack of well-rounded people, US society will come to a halt because there isn't enough specialist to fix so many problems. In addition, this recession is caused by people on the top, who most likely have "Super Highly Regarded Specialized University" on their resumes. America doesn't pay for "sub-par" students to go to college. GPA is not a good fair scale of measurement. Grade inflation is becoming more common at specialized universities.

  • 500char/will abrev alot. Right, well-rounded! Which is why I said most (easy) majors should be min or require dual-maj's. U.S. DOESN'T have enough eng's and sci's PERIOD. Chinas size allows them to give out 20x more eng degrees than the US and that is very very BAD for everyone. Go2 any CC and tell me the US does not pay for "sub-par" or (stupid) students. 22% of CC students are in remedial(HS) classes. Most of those remedial students are poor or minorities which US does(have) to pay for.

  • you counter-argued by adding points into your previous statements, -1pt.

US will never have enough ANYTHING exclamationmark. you should look at the stats again, compare the ratios. higher percentile of minority students do better than the others. The US only HELPS students with economical disadvantages, and most of the time, a good move. But note: America is made up of more than one class/race. AND its money come from all class/race, more or less.

  • cool, ill try this out

  • they are not nerds, they are just trying o improve their chem. unlike you, they dont just "look aroud" the net, they actually use the net for a greater purpose.

  • lol you all are nerd tho wathicng this videos idk how the hell i get here jk i need this video but is it that im blind or i can actually see whats on the board

  • Yes, I'm a nerd, and a big one at that.

  • These are most definitely not functional groups... Polyatomic Ions, yes- but not functional groups. Functional group = ketones, carboxyls, esters, etc...

  • First of all they're NOT CALLED FUNCTIONAL GROUPS! They are POLYATOMIC IONS!!!!!! Functional groups relate to Organic Chemistry!!!!

  • you are cute lol

  • nah he just talk to much he was just saying things that we dont even wanna know go to the POINT DUDE!!

  • Its a great video but I can't see the words clearly.

  • I dislike straight out memorization...making connections is a stronger way to retain info, so (even if no one really needs it or cares) I will offer one more tip:

If there is a Bi-- as a prefix, then the molecule likely has a H (hydrogen atom).

    Ex: Bi-carbonate (HCO3-), Bi-Sulfate (HSO4-)

Also both of these have an -ate at the end so they end in the same O number (of atoms) as just CarbonATE (O3) or SulfATE (O4).

  • I use certain little tricks to help me memorize (I hope someone else finds them useful!):

    1. -ite is smaller than -ate. There are less O atoms (oxygen ) in the molecule with -ite than with -ate.

    2. For the --chlor-- , Nitr--, and --sulf--molecules: You can memorize all of them easily because they have the same basic arrangement!

    EX:

    Hypo-CHLOR-ite = ClO- CHLOR-ite = ClO2- (just an increase CHLOR-ate = ClO3- in O atoms) Per-CHLOR-ate = ClO4-

  • Thank You so much. I had struggled to memorize this and you truly helped because this was exactly what I was searching for.

  • BLINK! Actually, this is pretty cool. Except my eyes feeling sympathetic dryness, thanks for posting- pretty good! ;)

  • HAHAHA BLINK!

  • funny when he said "nomenclature"

  • hay buddy thnx

    this helped me a lot.

  • omg this guy is hot

  • I agree! complete dilf!

  • Thanks!! I like the sound of this idea. I'm sure it suits my learning style :D

  • i wish i would have watched this before i took my test on wednesday lol
