@smokeizfire good point but being oppressed for hundreds of years is hard to come back from and all fairness it's owed to africans a little but of support from their ''Leaders''.
We complain and look to entertain. What happened to all of the African inventors? I know, everybody is a rapper, thug, drug dealer, basketball, football, comedian, singing ass niggas who don't want anything that we have to work hard for. Change is never easy. Change is one of the few things in life that if you wait for it, it will never come. Revolution doesn't happen with everyone sitting at home.
The break down of the black family, people who exploit our communities by selling drugs within our the community..then become rappers and public figures and poison the minds of our youth...shows like "first 48" who capitalize off of all of it.. the lack of support for one another when it comes to everything except violence against each other. Why do we need another " black leader" to stand up to die in vain?
Marcus Garvey would be ashamed because we are waiting for change...waiting for a "Black leader"...waiting for someone else to do what we should have done by now...build our own nation and separate from the society that continues to exploit us. He would be ashamed of how so many people like him and the MLKs, Malcolm Xs, Harriet Tubman's, Nat Turner's who knew that power is not handed over...but is taken by force. we have not taken ownership for our down-falls and continue to blame others.
@AndreRedd1Empire that's a rude and disrespectful thing to say. You think only you struggle? My people were slaves before blacks were. What say you now? You are a bigot. It's just as ugly when black people are bigots. Thankfully all my very dear and beloved black brothers and sisters are not bigots like you. Get that chip off your shoulder and realize you're in the same boat with the rest of America, if you're American, we are all being enslaved. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT OR SHUTUP. I DO.
@GrannyTenderstone bullshyt...the first thing that people should STOP doing is to pretend like all exploitation is the same everywhere in the world. It's NOT. European women are exploited in different ways from African males, for instance. As an African in America, I would never compare my struggle to that of an indigenous person's. Why do whites get so sensitive when Africans assert that our struggle is unique?
This speech is speaking to equality but for the empowerment of all people as equals. "From the brotherhood of God in which all men should live." Whether America, Africa, Jamaica or any other country... people are people
I am a white teacher. I have always held Marcus Garvey as one of MY heros. Presently I teach in Croydon - how ashamed would Marcus Garvey be if he could see and hear the young blacks today!
@soularflarez noble drew ali was a member of the islamic secret societies still, though i agree he was working for the upliftment of afrikan people. its rare to find a "rebel" leader who isnt under the thumb of babylon. thats why we cannot trust men, only ourselves, and the Most High. but yes, bring back real black leader, bring back real white leaders, bring back freedom, stop waiting on a messiah, or a spacechip, and come help put a stop to this killing and raping thats goin on worldwide...
@Maggot258 How can u speak 2 who would be ashamed? Do u realize white teacher that if 1 group takes another & systematically breaks them down 2 nothing over many decades that those people will suffer those effects 4 a multitude of generations. My people still suffer from the mental manipulation & degradation imposed on us in slave times; a condition called slave mentality. For this reason and a few others you see my youth and adults alike degrading themselves & valuing worthlessness.
@bolofiftyfive you're blaming teachers for what children don't learn at home? Such as the value of their existence? That's the parents' failure. ALL PEOPLE SUFFER, all Americans except the .01% are slaves, all of us are considered disposable. Stop segregating yourself by thinking you are the only ones. Those who insist on calling themselves degraded will be more degraded than we already are, all of us, all colors, etc. Stop blaming people who are on your side.
@GrannyTenderstone I am blaming no one read Maggot258 post then mine again. It simply rubbed me the wrong way that Maggot258 assumed that Mr. Garvey would be ashamed of his people, thats all. I have no clue were you get that I am blaming anyone; nor do you know the work I put in 2 empower my people to change the negative mindset that some of my people have. Not all people suffer and this is for many different reasons, my suffering comes from being a black man in America. Can you relate to that?
@bolofiftyfive I surely do understand that,&black Americans are one of my favorite causes. I come from a Jewish background&my people were enslaved too, although in the more distant past. We've been persecuted&still are. But I am a Hebrew Christian Buddhist &there is no conflict in that,so I have a big heart for everybody. I understand the deepest essential functions of the entire universe, from the physical to the spiritual. It gives me perfect peace, but my mission is to comfort others.
@bolofiftyfive I don't discount your suffering or circumstances, but everybody has entered the same realm your people have experienced. Our nation is now all about enslavement of ALL peoples, abuse of them all, and only serving the one percent who don't care about anybody but themselves. So I'm with you, and you hopefully are with the rest of us. Dividing it up according to color etc. at this point is self-defeating and futile. GOD BLESS YOU.
@bolofiftyfive ..He [maggot258] was perfectly right, the blacks now replace the left over role of the white to secrectly enslave their people;discouranging them on their ancestors belief and encouranging them on religion installment. They just sit in America forgetting that they are Afrikans, and when they tour, they end up in cities forgetting villagers. Black are strangers to themself, thats why they flock.
@osemoboable Once again please read the full conversation before you comment; when you don’t you run the risk of sounding like an idiot. I'll use you as an example.
@bolofiftyfive ...Brother i know u are a christain or a muslem;but maggot258 dont deserve such comments either,he was on our side, why clarifying him on what he knows better.
@osemoboable I am sorry but your entire theory/opinion is bullshit, you are not black, let a lone you are not even Latino, Asian, Native American, Arab or Indian, so what exactly do you know about minorities struggle, quit acting like you know more about us, then we do, YOU DON'T. You get your thinking from watching YouTube videos, we live it. Educate yourself.
@bolofiftyfive your response was fully justified. It seems like this teacher is displacing his/her culture shock on Marcus Garvey. He knew back then that Africans were in a low condition; the things that would make him ashamed are: 1. the subversion of African liberation struggles in the US, UK, Caribbean, etc., 2. the failure of liberal whites who insisted on integration to criticize the institutions that keep Africans in a low condition. My guess is he would harangue this teacher FIRST.
@Maggot258 ..Thanks unbias fellow. It pains me seing my people waisting time arguing why they cant be priest in mormons and fighting their quotes, whilst their ancestors shrine decay and rot back home.
@Maggot258 You use the word "Ashamed", so quite naturally you feel black people have a place. Look how wild and out of control white children are, what deceased person (s) would be ashamed of them?
@yorubablk3 Is it so hard to imagine that a white person can be inspired n moved by a black man? That obviously means that the message is reaching the "majority" race...
@Sxeybodygirlz My question was to the person who claims to be white .The fact that poster hasn't answered to my mind is the answer. You have a great day.
@Maggot258 Man wtf are you talking about? Why would he be ashamed? He knows the young blacks are struggling, not by CHOICE but because of YOUR SYSTEM. You being a white teacher and teaching the young blacks your religion and other crap, that is what Garvey would be ashamed in. He would never, never be ashamed of his own people, especially not the youth, so fuck off white man.
@Maggot258The question is how ashamed he would be to see that the racial politics of the United States and imperialist nations have at once become more covert and detrimentally threatening to the psychic well-being of black people EVERYWHERE.The system continues to undermine otherwise innocent individuals on the narrow basis of race and class. Marcus Garvey however would have the wisdom to observe the surge of consciousness about our destiny that has been made manifest in recent years. Prophecy.
would really want to know who were the 3 who disliked this... this is powerful stuff..it is the truth..no one should feel the need to tear it down... Respect Daddy Marcus..first proclaimed national hero of Jamaica.

Why do people praise him just because he made one complimentary article on Haile Selassie (before WWII no less)? If anything, Garvey was one of the few men smart enough to see past the Emperor's superficial grandeur and saw him for the coward he was.
@LaStriata No.We praise him because he is the forerunner of the Black Consciousness movement. He was the Farrakhan of his day He came to debrief the fomer slaves. If all of our people would have followed him, none of us would be in prison, none of us would be on welfare, none of us would need a job from others.None of us would drink and do drugs.None of us would be dead beat fathers or unwed mothers. He was a true Saviour.Thats why J Edgar Hoover hated him..
@LaStriata What do you have against our Rastafarian Brothers and Sisters? Haile Selassie showed us a sign of what is to come when he ran the devil out of Ethiopia.
@arnibah He did not run the devil out of Ethiopia. He ran off to England, while his own generals with British assistance did the work for him. When he returned, he had all the officials who fought against Mussolini either demoted or beheaded, and replaced them with people who were previously loyal to the fascists.
I'm not even going to begin delving into his role in the 1973 famine.
@LaStriata Were you there or did you get your information from the media?I know that the West hated what he did to Italy,so they have a motive for twisting the news.
@LaStriata If he did behead anyone,it was probably stool pigeons. The same kind of stool pigeons that brought Garvey's movement down. The same kind of stool pigeons that Noble Drew Ali and Elijah Muhammad had to deal with.If the West helped Selassie,it was because they saw they had no choice. If the protestors in Eygpt didn't look like they were going to win,the USA would have never supported them.We can't believe Western media when they report on us,because they are known liars.
@arnibah, @psalmsnmyrrh, @lastriata, @aminah6623, So Arnibah,... Exactly. Black Nationalism has the same reliable moral premise as all ethno-nationalism ... of peace and independence ...and is opposed by groups seeking control of and/or profit from others.
Powerful proud black speaker. A strong man who stood tall and never allowed himself to be dissuaded by any distractions. A brilliant role model for black children and for myself I am of persian descent but this man is one of my heroes!
I have a question. If they hated us so much, why didn't they fund garveys plan and ship black people out of the US? was it because they were afraid of losing cheap labor or is there some other reason?
It was because they plan down the road. They knew that they would integrate in there society thus in there economy. Now look at black America we have almost 1 trillion spending power and we spend it on them to make them rich and to fund there military and killing machine. Not only do we give it to the whites but the Koreans and other races. Spending power is the true power in this day and age if you can control 1 trillion in cash you will be powerful as hell.
@Blacknemisis thank you, that makes sense to me...I thought also that they were too lazy to do their own work, the dirty hard stuff no one wanted to do.
@PsalmsNmyrrh They know our true history and they know prophecy. They know what made us great in the pass and they know Garvey was teaching us the same principles we used in the pass to become greatt. They know if we ever reach that level again,we would ruled the world. They study our greatness in their secret societies. They know that the 1st will be last and the last will be 1st.They know to be 1st,you have to feed on the kind of knowedge Garvey taught.
Blessings to ALL .. " Liberate The Minds Of Men and Ultimately You Liberate The Bodies Of Men." When Truth Is Spoken It Resonates In The Soul A Cry For Freedom , Justice , Respect , Equality , And Love. JAH Bless
I had to double check if this was really Marcus Garvey Speech and it is because in the middle of the speech he says " europe for the europeons, asia for the asiatic and africa for the africans" it was a famous quote from him. also i believe this was a speech when you starting of "Back to africa" But that is my opinion
and traditional differences...small tribes being forced to travel hundreds of miles for basic needs that were once so accessible...In the case of Nigeria, over 300 different ethnicities inhabit that so called "counrty"...these fictional boundaries grouped them into one people when they are 300 different peoples...if Nigeria was structured like the United States, then that could work...but Africans in general were not meant to live that way...small tribes and villages is where they usually thrive
its time for the negro to return to africa,,,slavery has ended,,its time for the negro to return to his homeland and make africa prosper,,,the white man only holds the negro down,,,,,,,,this time negros wont be in the ships hold but on the deck enjoying the voyage home,,,,who is with me

@Zari7000 Farrakhan is the Garvey of today. The government hated Garvey, they hate Farrakhan. Most of our people didn't follow Garvey because they didn't want to displease our enemy. This is why they reject Farrakhan and they'll reject the real Jesus for the same reason.Garvey built a nation,Farrakhan rebuilt one.I'm not even in the NOI but can see clearly because I'm honest. The Jews hated Garvey, they hate Farrakhan. The press hated Garvey, they hate Farrakhan. If Garvey was here, most would reject him
You can enslave us for some 300 years, the bodies of men, you can shackle the hands of men, you can shackle the feet of men, you can imprison the bodies of men, BUT YOU CANNOT SHACKLE OR IMPRISON THE MINDS OF MEN.
THE PROPHET JOHN IS SPEAKING. WHEN HE WON KING HEROD AND TELL HIM ABOUT HIS WICKEDNESS OF TAKING HIS BROTHERS WIFE.JOHN WAS PUT INTO PRISON FOR SAYING THE TRUTH.MARCUS WAS JOHN THE BAPTIST REINCANATE.
This speech actually was written in his newspaper on or before the day he had to report to Atlanta for his prison term. The voice you hear is the voice of Guayanese actor Ron Bobb-Semple. There are only two recordings of Garvey, a phonograph recording explaining the U.N.I.A . Sorry to burst your bubble, but it does not in any way reduce Garvey's influence on every pan-african proponent that followed him. He expressed in eloquence what was the base dilemma facing blacks worldwide.
I hope you realize this is NOT the actual voice of Marcus Garvey, but that of an actor whose name I cannot remember. The speech never occurred. According to a source from another YouTube video "Look for Me in the Whirlwind" number 1, the speech was from an editorial written by Garvey before leaving for prison. But, if these are his words, then it IS his voice. It is said there is only 1 recording of his voice available; a 2-sided recording from before 1920. Marcus rules!
"liberate the minds of men an dyou will utlimately liberate the BODIES of men"
race mixing and miscegenation occured because the african woman had no protection of them slave master". but today theres no reason to freely continue a practice that smacks so much of slavery"
Brother Marcus tried to talk since to his brothers and sisters to make the journey back home , but some didnt listen , i guess we had enough Toms that felt comfortable being submitted to the crackers way of life, his religion , excepting his way of life living in his fuckhole.. But the shit eating cracker exhiled him from the united snakes of Ameri-shit
How come more black people dont talk about this cat he was malcom x before malcom x. It seems as if hes treated as an uncle tom of sorts. Why didnt too many africans take him up on his boat back to the motherland campain?
@TheLookAtSeries If thats how you want to brush off reality you have every right to think that way. It is my buisnness if it werent hed have said nothing at all in public eye at all. Lol whoa reality what a concept.
@Not brushing off reality, tjust didn't like the way you disrespected Garvey. You to have a right to be rude, dismissive, disrespectful, but no basis. What good right do you have to say those things about him? - none. Marcus Garvey, unlike most so-called black leaders today was really, truly and genuinely trying to hepled teh sorry condition of the African race. I call it as it is, i'm not an attention-seeker. If you want tod talk, feel free.
@TheLookAtSeries C u need to learn to read & comprehend better. My statement was that he was saying what Malcom X was saying before he said it. Nothing negative at all. I just asked y no 1 wanted to go back to Africa when he wanted had black star lines. He even comment in his speaches for black people to leave America cuz it's no good for them. I listen to what his royal hindeass is saying sound like you don't.
@TheLookAtSeries . I have basis & no bias as I have listened & understood a fair amnt of his talk. I have every immense right to speak my thoughts on any 1 or anything. I know he was trying to make change, things were worse then than they are now. My query was merely wondering why not many Blacks took him up on his offer to leave if it was so bad?
@TheLookAtSeries As well if you seek no attention then why post so many comments sounds like you took a hypocritical oath. I would say the same on Speaker Corner or anywhere else. You are the 1 who is rude, dismissive, & disrespectful; with ignorance as a topper cuz u comprehend nothing, just thinking of how to keep racial barriers. Kinda like Al Sharpton or Jessie Jackson both of who are squeaky clean huh? I call it as I see it for real.
To think that there will be a time when African will separate and provide for themselves is disillusional. History show that you will always have people of your own kind sabatoging your movement. Lets be honest if it wasn't for Blacks infiltrating the UNIA it would have carry on its mission and we would be in a better position.
@MrBlastfromthepast Not to say that I disagree with you, but in the bigger skim of things he also tried to fight the defeat mentality that was prevalent among Black people , that they saw no way out of their situation and accepted their current state of affairs to be permanent. Equally the Black people who were always sabotaging the progress might be confronted and be dissuaded from such act.
This just goes to show black people, especially those delluded ones that think that we blks can come togather with whites, even the lock wearing rasta man talking whites only see their own perspective, they are all socoipathic when it comes to other peoples on the planet!
...and for your information, garvey did try to set up afri-amkkkan colonies in Afrika, but the colonialists european and amerikkkan gov's, outlawed him there, and used their afrikan stooges here and abroad to destroy garvey's activitys there and here.
lt winter, whites pushed blacks and whites apart, what do you want us to do, combine with a people that has enslaved and obliviated every other peole that they have come in contact with, we need not come togather with a people like that, do you want to cometogather with bin laden?
Garvey is great man,... it is important to reflect about the time he gave this speech,... when black man had no integration in american society,... it's importnat to remember garvey in black history, than you go to malcolm x , M ltuher king,.. till Obama,... Viva the contribution of marcus garvey in Black history,....
why a hypocrite ? he's talking about the njustice beeing done do african americans and that the white men wont admit it and still wont admit it , sand makes a statement , like when we talkes about god , the bible says that god created men in his image so mabey he was a lil black to , i dont think he ment hate all the white men . dont think i ever heard anything like that ?but in that time i would hate white men if they burn my childeren and shoot my black as just for jay walking ;)
marcus garvey was a separatist and a hypocrite. All pan-africanists are hypocrites who still reside in america. he wanted to talk about migrating back to africa, but low and behold, they all stayed here. He tried to push the black and white cultures apart and make them hate one another and not realize the truth: that we are ALL from africa and we are ALL people. race is a delusion and ethnicity is only based on where you were born. not who you are. wake up, people.
@LtWinter There was once a movement to return to africa, it was a black thing then. But the elitist blacks needed a poor welfare negro to cry to in order to hold high office and profit. So they put money toghether to ensure blacks stayed in america. Whites and blacks are in this together-controlled by very few who are robbing us all.
@LtWinter try living in those times, which were far different than today, majority of whites were racist, not all, but a good many, lynchings and beatings were as common as breathing air, don't you think they had to defend themselves? saying that we are all equal and from Africa back then would only fall on deaf ears for the most part, today it is very much understandable and should be
@LtWinter Marcus Garvey was a visionary...he was enlightened and completely correct....Blacks and whites are not meant to live together and the state that America has remained for three centuries is proof of that...Not only are whites and blacks not meant to live together, that goes for all ethnicities...The reason Africa is in the state it is in is because white people created these false boundaries forcing hundreds of different ethnic groups to live together, not considering their religious
Why would you even be visiting Marcus Garvey's page? EDUCATE yourself first before posting such ignorance. The land was bulit from the ground up off the sweat of the red man and the black man(Free Labour). Native Americans were already here when the Europeans arrived and had to teach the white man how to survive in the new world. Europeans were fleeing from Europe because of the tyranny that was being forced upon them by their own people. Hint Hint The American Revolutionary War!

DBlockn05 1 month ago
@bolofiftyfive your response was fully justified. It seems like this teacher is displacing his/her culture shock on Marcus Garvey. He knew back then that Africans were in a low condition; the things that would make him ashamed are: 1. the subversion of African liberation struggles in the US, UK, Caribbean, etc., 2. the failure of liberal whites who insisted on integration to criticize the institutions that keep Africans in a low condition. My guess is he would harangue this teacher FIRST.

@Sxeybodygirlz My question was to the person who claims to be white .The fact that poster hasn't answered to my mind is the answer. You have a great day.
yorubablk3 1 month ago
@Maggot258 Man wtf are you talking about? Why would he be ashamed? He knows the young blacks are struggling, not by CHOICE but because of YOUR SYSTEM. You being a white teacher and teaching the young blacks your religion and other crap, that is what Garvey would be ashamed in. He would never, never be ashamed of his own people, especially not the youth, so fuck off white man.
DBlockn05 1 month ago
@Maggot258The question is how ashamed he would be to see that the racial politics of the United States and imperialist nations have at once become more covert and detrimentally threatening to the psychic well-being of black people EVERYWHERE.The system continues to undermine otherwise innocent individuals on the narrow basis of race and class. Marcus Garvey however would have the wisdom to observe the surge of consciousness about our destiny that has been made manifest in recent years. Prophecy.

Why do people praise him just because he made one complimentary article on Haile Selassie (before WWII no less)? If anything, Garvey was one of the few men smart enough to see past the Emperor's superficial grandeur and saw him for the coward he was.
LaStriata 8 months ago
@LaStriata No.We praise him because he is the forerunner of the Black Consciousness movement. He was the Farrakhan of his day He came to debrief the fomer slaves. If all of our people would have followed him, none of us would be in prison, none of us would be on welfare, none of us would need a job from others.None of us would drink and do drugs.None of us would be dead beat fathers or unwed mothers. He was a true Saviour.Thats why J Edgar Hoover hated him..

@LaStriata What do you have against our Rastafarian Brothers and Sisters? Haile Selassie showed us a sign of what is to come when he ran the devil out of Ethiopia.
arnibah 7 months ago
@arnibah He did not run the devil out of Ethiopia. He ran off to England, while his own generals with British assistance did the work for him. When he returned, he had all the officials who fought against Mussolini either demoted or beheaded, and replaced them with people who were previously loyal to the fascists.
I'm not even going to begin delving into his role in the 1973 famine.

PsalmsNmyrrh 8 months ago
@PsalmsNmyrrh

To think that there will be a time when African will separate and provide for themselves is disillusional. History show that you will always have people of your own kind sabatoging your movement. Lets be honest if it wasn't for Blacks infiltrating the UNIA it would have carry on its mission and we would be in a better position.
MrBlastfromthepast 2 years ago 2
@MrBlastfromthepast Not to say that I disagree with you, but in the bigger skim of things he also tried to fight the defeat mentality that was prevalent among Black people , that they saw no way out of their situation and accepted their current state of affairs to be permanent. Equally the Black people who were always sabotaging the progress might be confronted and be dissuaded from such act.

phristan 2 years ago
marcus garvey was a separatist and a hypocrite.
LtWinter 2 years ago
@LtWinter There was once a movement to return to africa, it was a black thing then. But the elitist blacks needed a poor welfare negro to cry to in order to hold high office and profit. So they put money toghether to ensure blacks stayed in america. Whites and blacks are in this together-controlled by very few who are robbing us all.
gshowecom 2 years ago 3
@LtWinter try living in those times, which were far different than today, majority of whites were racist, not all, but a good many, lynchings and beatings were as common as breathing air, don't you think they had to defend themselves? saying that we are all equal and from Africa back then would only fall on deaf ears for the most part, today it is very much understandable and should be
DaMostEnigmatic 2 years ago
@LtWinter
You are talking about time when blacks were only slaves no idea
of integration and black rights existed. Rastas are good example, they worship
both repatriation to Africa and liberation before repatriation. While I understand
the dislike of black supermacy, it was an answer to white supermacy. Now
there should be none.
vojinvidanovic79 1 year ago
