  • oh my goodness!! did you duracoat your tv remote too? lol

  • @ZombieHuntersInt thats achually not a bad idea!!! the "rubber" gripness on the back of mine has come off and looks liek crap. why not have a tactical remote.

Can't make it camo tho, i loose it enough already

  • @GoGreenMan lol can't get enough duracoat can ya? :D

  • what about the gun getting hot and the paint coming off? or will it be fine under heat? please respond!

  • @x1000warhead1 havent had an issue

  • you should look into the sponge method used id bet you would be really good with it.

  • Very nice job! Definetely like the light dusting green with the twig pattern accross it! I am in the process of building a Mosin Nagant and will Duracoat it so this is a great motivation for me to know that i can do!! Very nicely done!!

  • no offense cause this is cool...but why not Woodlands cammo...this is all designed for like the desert.....

  • @ArtOfSelfReliance cause the desert is where I use it ;)

  • @beast12101 AridZone-A?

  • @SecretTrollAccount1 semi arid, we get about 8 inches a year

  • little bit too much I think, but cool.

  • I spray painted my dick tan. It never dried all the way. It is real sticky.

  • what scope is that?

  • why did you duracoated your ACOG?!

  • @Juannh its not an ACOG

  • @beast12101 ok, but i dont think that you should have duracoated anyway, after all it's covered in rubber

  • @beast12101 he thinks its a ACOG because of stupid games

  • nice gerber

  • how much does duracoat run?

  • shoulda just bought the coyote brown Gerber ASEK \m/

  • Hey man check out my first duracoat project, just started a channel and I will be duracoating all kinds of random friends guns.

  • @beast12101 were did you get the aresol ?

  • @jeffcantbestoped hardware store

  • Duracoat the scout next dude ...keep up the good work

  • @mcvideo8686 heck ya

  • you should get an side arm too. as an back up.

  • Camo painting guru : ) My dad would use leaves as templates on his deer stands & hunting boxing & ended up decent results. I liked the magazine on the far left as well. I think sometimes less is more. Good work brother

  • I think you should have kept some areas black on the gun. I have seen some nice tan jobs where parts were left black and i think the two tone idea really works very nice.

I was looking around for images to show you but i couldn't find anything good but i mean this kind of idea: flickr.com/photos/50952562@N05/?savedsettings=4684918927#photo4684918927 (yes, it's a paintball gun - not mine)

A tip for spraying is to use some grass and then spray over the top for a nice natural 'stencil' effect.

  • Looks Great! Thank you for sharing and Happy New Year!

  • Man!, beast it looks great!! What about the vegetation method you used to camo your fuel cans? This method has never failed me in all of my years of military service. Give it a go and see what happens.

  • Bro, it looks great. I like the camo design on the mag that you put in the rifle too. Can wait to see it finished. Sometimes the rifle/camo looks even better when the paint wears alittle anyway.

  • The canteen cup test is a great idea. Hey Beast, shoot one side of your hammer and lets see how fast it goes away? This should give fast feed back at a cheep cost too? Do one side with paint, the other Duracoat, into the tool box, and let's see? Damn, I'm gona have to get some of this and play myself.

    Thanks for a great vid!

    Happy New Year

  • i wouldnt do it simply because i suck at that craft lol. i like the gerber sheath and interested in the durability of it on the blade. i know my gerber came with a rust proof nitrogen coating you think that may affect the duracoat? i want to make it forest green or olive drab...

  • Good job bra. Don't let any of those elitest b***hes tell you s**t. Aloha

  • you will need to watch all of you cleaners and gun solvents. most will remove the duracoat. looks good. to get a good spray gun try a auto parts store. stay safe.

    ben

p.s. move it some were warm and it will cur fully in 10 to 14 days. if you need any help getting a blade shaving sharp or a custom knife built give me a call.

  • Looks nice man. I have used spray paint for my long gun but it wears fast and is really hard to clean.

Also I really like the diamond pattern!

    Sweet set of vids

    Thumbs up!

    Fox

  • What kept you from using the old, tried and true method of camouflaging your rifle? That is to take burlap strips or other suitable material and wrap or tie them on in a way that breaks up the outline of the weapon. The breaking of the outline is what's going to give you the hiding capability, not changing its color. Also, you can change the traditional camouflage in minutes for every season and area and it doesn't cost as much. I see Duracoat more of a style change, like fingernail polish.

  • Looks good beast. Nice to see you experimenting with this.

  • @Patriot36 thanks

  • I wonder if there isn't a flex agent that can be used with the product? Maybe a hardener. I am applying auto paint experience to what your showing, and don't know if any of it applies. I know there are AEO products that can be used for automotive purposes, like plastics like bumpers, etc.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • @IronRangeSurvival it might work, of course the company would say it has to be their product only, but Im not to worried about it

  • Beast, it looks like you did a real good job on the Duracoat. IMO the far left MAG is the best of all. The way you smeared the green on and then added the branch lines to follow the green is the best at looking like real foliage. Take Care :-))

  • Came out awesome! Thanks for the video!

  • lookin good Beast. can't wait to see it fully cammo'd. if you make it over here to western ID, we'll blast and wheel. stay tuned for my wheeling project.

  • @shortmag429 look forward to it

  • I like the way it turned out no matter what brand the rifle is. You did a good job on the patterns you painted on the mags as well. Can't wait to see how it cures and how well it lasts over time of use. Thanks for sharing and posting!

  • Beast, are you planning to camo the full rifle or just the magazines? I'm doing a duracoat project in the coming weeks using the Magpul Flat Dark Earth on a Surefire Scout weapon light, is that the same style of FDE you used?

  • @YokoWenis duracoat calls their flat paint ,"tactical" so it was the tactical dark earth

  • Nice job. I like the bit of the scientist in you as you like to explore and test things.

The Preval sprayers worked pretty good for me. I found I had better results with the Preval (as compared to my airbrush) by adding Duracoat reducer which made for a better and even finish and less orange peal.

    I really enjoy my Bushmaster.

Coffee is on me next time I am in your area!

  • @USNERDOC I think I should've bought the reducer as well. live and learn.

  • looks good man!

  • good job i like the color

  • Nice work, but be careful. A buddy of mine camouflaged his varmint rifle. While he was shooting coyotes near Fort Rock, he leaned it against some brush and stepped away to take a leak. When he came back, he had a hell of a time finding the rifle. I laughed at him when he told me the story, but he didn't see the humor in it. (hehe)

  • @HawkLMT lol

  • Why are so many guys down on Bushmaster? Anyone I know that has one is more than happy with it. Are all these haters Colt fans? Colts are all overpriced because you're paying for the name. For example, I wouldn't buy a Colt 1911 if they were the last American 1911 on earth because you have to pay for the gun and then pay a gunsmith almost as much as you paid for the gun, just to make it run right. But I digress. The Duracoat turned out nice. I really like the mags. Keep us posted on how it wears

  • @gblpst81 So sick of hearing "Colts are all overpriced because you're paying for the name." I will refer you to the "M4 Chart" spreadsheet and you'll see why you get what you pay for. I'm not saying Bushmaster is a bad gun, just why Colts cost what they do.

  • @YokoWenis I don't see what that chart proves. It doesn't seem very objective. It's the firearm equivalent of saying "we tested this Lamborgini against a bottom of the barrel Camaro and everything in between." Colts ARE overpriced because Colts are overbuilt, and you're paying for the name. Most people aren't fighting in the desert. With today's AR-15 aftermarket, there's no reason to buy a Colt. Any idiot can build a respectable AR as long as they buy parts from reputable companies.

  • @gblpst81 If you want to say Colts are overbuilt for the recreational shooter, that's a fair statement. But your definition of objective measures differ from, well everyone else's definition. Either it does or does not have certain features to gauge quality.

  • @YokoWenis Don't get me wrong, I think Colts are fine rifles. But the way some guys seem to worship them just seems odd to me. And you seem to have very logical reasons why you personally like them, which is good. But a lot of guys I talk to don't have reasons. When you ask them why they like Colts, their answer is "...because...it's...a Colt...?" Brand loyalty without reason is just silly. Condemning a brand without reason is also silly. I'd say you are a resonable person from your statements.

  • @gblpst81 Then there are guys who look at a quality spec rifle manufacturer that allows you to buy 2 for the price of what some charge for one. DPMS has never left me disappointed, and I can afford to prep for others who are have not.

  • @IronRangeSurvival Very valid point, and a very important consideration for many people. Let's face it, just because Americans have (or had) a high standard of living doesn't mean we have $2000 kicking around to spend on a rifle. Especially when $1000 will buy you one that does all the same things, and probably will last at least 30 years anyway. I'd love to be rich enough to always be top-of-the-line firearms, but instead I invested in tools to keep ANY firearms running, and buy cheaper guns.

  • Great video! Nice looking rifle!

  • great vid bro, it has turned out real nice, remember "Tactical" in the paint description means a flat finish and will ware quicker than a satin finish. Duracoat shits on paint, when i was on deployment the paint would ware off in a cple of days(does the job but painin the arse to reapply) and black guns stick out like dogs "parts" in the field, on the mags the 2 on the left look the best, but i digg the onion skin bag stencils combine those i think ur on a winner, top vid hve a good new years

  • @TheDishD thanks

  • Thanks for sharing. Looks nice. Take care buddy.

  • I def like the looks of your canteen lid and the mag with the stick drawings. Good stuff beast!

  • Duracoating looks pretty cool. I like black myself.. I can't help it. :P

I think the issue about the canteen was putting your lips to the duracoat when you drink out of it. I saw in a comment about why not spray high temp paint on your canteen for the same reason. But I am not sure about that... it might require some research.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • @markshmily it was to test the duracoat, I could use high temp paint but that wouldnt test the duracoat.

  • Hi Beast

Not quite shore why you bothered with this (not for camo) ? When I was serving I used high tack paper tap to cover the weapon in and then applied the camo pattern required to it , ho hum done now lets hope when the snow clears you get a sand storm , the way we carry our weapons can be a great method of camo, black weapon carried verticaly by your side can almost disappear as you move, or a black weaopon carried by someone wearing dark clothes is hard to see when there less than close

  • i like the branchie one (second to last, first side). the diamond pattern on the canteen lid is awesome, though.

  • Looks great man, turned out quite nice!!! Now you just gotta take it out and beat the hell out of it, get those battle scrapes and scars all over it......thanks for the vid brother!!!!

  • @joshlone1982 will do ;)

  • Nice work!

I don't think duracoat is made to actually be used on the Rubber parts. I think it's more the nature of rubber that any paint has trouble holding to it.
