When i play with Gen he is a idiot

If i press down and hard kick he makes a long range low kick , but after a while , when i still press exactly same buttons and in the same fight, he starts to make a small jump forward and then a double kick

WHY ?? i press the exact same buttons

Gen has two fighting styles, when you press all three kick buttons at the same time, he switches to his other style, Thats why he does the double kick. If you press all punch buttons afterwards at the same time, he will revert back to his Mantis style, the one where he does the long range low kick. Hope that helped :)

i just got me a new street fighter 4 tournament arcade stick and i'm trying to learn some new characters besides ryu and ken but i'm having alot of trouble.... the arcade stick has a learning curve but man is it fun

i haven't play street fighter since super-sf2, but i always presume that in these games you corner your opponent with a combination of quick and hard jabs, then when they're stunned - only then you do your supers/combos. most sf4 players that i see around here seem to want to do their ultra combos right from the beginning, and it makes the play look very sloppy.

Lol gen IS pretty fun to use, But his moves have a very low priority over other players, for example, any shoryuken type move will beat gens kick thing. Even if its EX, and used as a recovery move, Basically the only strategy that works for me is waiting for openings and go in for a slap combo or whatever its called, and suprise them from time to time by flying around. His EX moves are not very useful. And if they jump alot, a good counter is crane style heavy air kicks. You can hit them twice.

Search for "Kani Gen" on youtube to see a truly great Gen.

I think his EX meter is best used for extending combos or for his mantis super since it's so easy to combo into and can be followed up with ultra, if you have it.

Yeah, I use his EX meter basically only to combo his super-->ultra like seen in this video.

I need to learn to utilize his crane style EX roll a little better since it can go through fireballs. I don't really see the reason for his EX bycicle kicks though.. even though it makes his 8 hit bycicle combo easier to pull off, I can do the 8 hit almost every time now without it.

Thanks for the tip, I'll look Kani up. Hopefully I can add some more combos to my arsenal with him.
