The Post was well care for by the ROC and the Observers who manned her. It was a master post, ie it correlated two other posts in a cluster of three it was the Post which had the radio.
I went in there last week on my own! didnt find it too scary but i went asleep in there for a bit and i woke up with a soldier from world war 2 pointing a gun at me!!! NO LIE! Hes been in there since WW2 n still in there now! I just said to him put your gun down or il bust you up an he showed me the money. Hes sound tho im good friends with him now his name is john n when he gets out of the bunker he wants at job at BT Landline! NO MESS! Siiick innit
im going to go up there next week and i will be taking a photo of inside it, i will try and do a video and post a link of it on here of what its like now :)
Helsby bomb shelter is still open and you can go down there, i was there not too long ago, about a month or so and you can go down, there isnt much in there, just rubbish from peoples waste like wrappers and bottles :/ but it was very scary hha! :)
Should always use caution visitng these as the laders can rust and fall so you could get trapped inside. Always go in pairs if you go inside and one stays on the surface. If it has any euipment in it, then remove it and donate it to a museam otherwise people will just brake it.
Its sad that so many of these posts have been so badly vandalised, and that so many 'explorers/collectcors' have therefore robbed them of anything of interest.
Interesting, like the music to. Did they have a toilet/sink in there? Just wondering. also, was it mostly made of concrete or did they dig a hole in the ground and drop a metal trailer in . . . .

Well they r called sometimes communication shelters and some placed underground along the shores of the country. i use to design some in 90's. but this one is old and would have been use for security. I think it was right to close it up. looked like a hazard. But there r bigger things we should be worried about concerning this stuff now.
It is filled in, was done between 1999 and 2001 - If the hatch is open, you can climb down the shaft, but the main bunker itself is filled in. The land owner tries to keep the shaft locked but clever cloggs come along with the right tools to open it. (Torlift Key) i think....
Have been in there myself a few years back, me and a few mates were treking the hills and saw the lid open and went in. Didnt see a dead sheep but it was nasty in there!
Man that songs creppy

Interesting video and sad end.

I decommissioned this post in the early 1990's.

It's a shame people have to ruin stuff like this by burning it etc.

It should be cleaned up and maintained for the history, and just in case.

It didn't get filled in. It's still open, homeless people have lived there in the past, a dead sheep was even down there at one point.
