Not only have i not heard from the Harmonicats for a lifetime I have no idea where to find them on Video or CD. They are still great. Thank You Sir David
Do you have their recording of "Moon River"? I cannot seem to locate it,that is...I have it on vinyl-But no record player/stereo @ the moment, and thanks for This upload,BTW!
The original harmonicats were Jerry Murad (chromatic harmonica, Al Fiore (chord harmonica), and Don Les (bass harmonica.
George Miklas replaced Dick Gardner on the bass, and Al Data replaced Bob Bauer on the chord in 1993. The photo at 36 seconds has George Miklas (bass) on the left, and Al Data (chord) on the right. This photo represents the personnel of the final incarnation of Jerry Murad's Harmonicats until Jerry's death in May 1996).
The photo at 46 seconds has Dick Gardner (bass) on the Right, and Al Fiore (chord) on the Left. Dick Gardner replaced Don Les in 1970, and played for Jerry for 23 years until he was replaced by George Miklas on the bass.
In 1984, George Miklas replaced Al Fiore on the chord harmonica. The photo at 155 seconds has Dick Gardner (bass) on the Left, and George Miklas (chord) on the Right. The photo was taken during the week after Thanksgiving, 1984 at the Lantana Dinner Theater in Massachusetts. During the week of performances at the Lantana, Jerry celebrated his 65th birthday, while Dick was 50 years old, and George was 19 years old.
I am George Miklas, former member of Jerry Murad's Harmonicats. George is the only member known to have accompanied Jerry on both chord and bass harmonicas ~ George joined Jerry and Dick Gardner at age 19 on the Chord Harmonica 1984-1985 (after Al Fiore and before Bob Bauer), and Bass Harmonica 1993-1996 (after Dick Gardner and until Jerry's death)
the Harmonicats were a big favorite in my family and we had a couple of their albums. It's great to find them here on youtube for a nostalgic listen. Thanks!
Have you ever been to S.P.A.H? society for the presevation and advancement of harmonica? It's in St. louis this year in Aug. and there are tons of GREAT harmonica bands....
Awesome! Always happy to see there are still fans out there.....I'm a granddaughter of one....although in serious need of an update you can read more or keep up here: myspace dot com slash theharmonicats

My great Uncle was in Jerry Murad's harmonicats. His name was Dick Gardner. I am not sure whether or not he is in this cuz I don't really know him.

In the picture with the three guys wearing brown suits and huge white shirt collars,

Every time when I listen to this music again, I feel so sad as we lost a great harmonica master like Jerry Murad. He is like
an old hero, holding his harmonica till the end of his life.

thank you. I loved them too, very beautiful music.

Very well done video. This group was very musical of a high caliber but was unfortunately marketed to a small niche audience.
These days, there are all kinds of off-beat instruments reaching all kinds of audiences with the internet and other media .
