  • This is By far my Fave work by this Brilliant Extant composer.Just a note on his Chick Corea Influence within this work is HUGE The soaring fly away improv parts is total Chick Lines Harmonies & all(not the cloying old fashion cocktail jazz or blues sections),but the progressive stuff.Esp you can hear this on the album called Duet with Chick & Gary Burton on vibes.I'm sure that Cd was close at hand when NK wrote this

  • Awesome piece!

  • My most favorite characteristic of Kapustin's performances is his clarity.

  • Hi, can you please send me the score to this piece? Thanks.

  • hi there, can u mail me the score??? :)

  • @ComTh0m this is great!

  • Favorited!

  • "The booklet wrier of Marc-Andre Hamelin's CD seems o be convinced that I used the first few notes of the bassoon solo that appears at the beginning of Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring" as a theme. This was a revelation to me. As far as I am concerned, both the "Rites of Spring" and this piece coincidentally happen to ue a phrase from the same Russian papyevka (the melodies of shich are often used in folk songs). "

    Kapustin on this piece.

  • good for you!!(Y)

  • Forgive the omissions of some letters and addition of some. It was late at night when I wrote this.

  • That was lovely. Such great music he wrote. I hope he becomes the favorite composer for modern music.

  • I actually later found that exact wording in the liner notes of the Marc-Andre Hamelin recording.

  • Thanks for letting us hear him play this piece! My first introduction to this piece was an amature recording, which was pretty good. But to hear the composer himself play is a real treat!

  • That motif sounds like a snippet of the opening bassoon solo from Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring."

  • Kapusttin himself "is very surprising that his motif is from Stravinsky."

He said it is mainly inspired by a Russian country tune.

  • I love this piece, one of the best by Kapustin !

    Thank you !
