I worked with this plane when it was owned by the Kalamazoo Air Zoo. I was just a kid who hung around the hanger until they put me to work as "Hey Kid!" pulling props and running firebottles.
I always loved that plane, and I know she's in good hands. Just giver her a pat on the old "ass pad" for me the next time she tries to squat on her tail when you tow her. Maybe I'll get down there to visit her at a show someday.
Man I miss Chino airshow and the Tigercat, one of my favorite planes that appears there, but it's just at a time of year when it's way too hot for me to handle :(
out of curiosity, how many of these planes are left in flying condition, does anyone know?
@TJDOZIER1 Sorry, you're wrong. A single squadron of (unarmed) F7F1P's saw service in 1945. Their job was to photo-recon the potential landing zones for the initial invasion of Japan. I have the honor of knowing one of those very few, very brave pilots. His love of the Tigercat surpasses even his first love, the F4U. I wish you could meet him.
My favorite fighter manufactures. The Wildcat, the Hellcat, the Tigercat, and my personal favorite, the Tom Cat. All of em' going down in history as some of the greatest fighter planes ever built.
Im glad that steve is with the Planes of fame museum in Chino Calif,
Its one of the rare museums that all the aircraft fly and if they arnt flying then thier in restoration, or being serviced,
I saw steve senior in the roaring warbirds Video of the corsair, nd he just goes thru the checklist like it was second nature, and then strats the R-2800,
warms it up and taxis out, takes off and goes thru some things like direndells and loops like it was nothing,
Steve jumps from airplane to airplane like you or I walk from room to room in our homes. What makes it even better is that Steve, actually both Steves', are really nice approachable people. I see them both, usually every week, and they always have time to say hello.
Steve Hinton is nothing short of amazing and I agree he would have been among the best aces in military service. And now there's Steve Hinton Jr.. Another Hinton to carry on the tradition of excellence in flight. Steve Jr, (Steveo) just became the youngest man to ever win the Reno Air aces. He did it at age 22, and took the record from his father who held it at age 26. I have flown with both, and I will fly anything, anywhere with either Steve. Both are pilots for the Air Museum Planes of Fame.
Bell 47 has more or less 50 years since the first flight and i dont have doubt that it is much bettar then this kind of toy(CH-14) from argentina, sorry!
it is also grotesque.
We build many of these in garagem with the engine of volkwagen!
We never overstress our aircraft or engines. These aircraft are flown so the public can experience these examples of aviation history. Seeing them in books or on video does not compare to the live experience. Parts are purchased, traded, and when needed hand fabricated.
This brought back fond memories of my youth seeing this particular Tigercat performing at the High on Kalamazoo Airshow. Glad to see it still thundering through the skies and wowing audiences. Thanks for sharing!
A most elegant aircraft !

Look how narrow the fuselage is shown 4:50
It's like a dart with wings and motors attached. Super narrow.

Beautiful aircraft. Steve Hinton is Thee Pilot!
AntiqueRadiodoc 4 months ago
there are warbird pilot's and then there is Steve Hinton,
He has a sense of what is right all the time and has a really affectionate heart for the WW2 plane's,
He's an excellent pilot and he knows how to get out of an emergency in a plane should one arise,
If He was in WW2 he would have been there with Bong, and Pappy and I believe even better in alot of respect's,

After 60 years Argentines tried to build something similar called *pucará*.They failed.Estupid people!
The old F7F already is better then *Pucará* although conceived sixty years ago!
zimmermann10 2 years ago
Mr. zimmermann10
The Pucara it´s a good plane, but the human factor is the most important element.
"stupid people"...envy?
anyway,this video is great,good job!!
tinchou85 2 years ago
Por qué usted no compara la pucará com lo F7F? ?No ves que é mais????
Fue construída hace sesenta anõs
zimmermann10 2 years ago
Porque el Pucará fue hecho pensando otros factores mr. Lumpen:
- Apoyo a tierra
- Anti-helicopteros
- Misiones COIN
No se si esta operativo el Grumman, pero el Pucará sigue activo y esta pendiente para actualizarlo.
tinchou85 2 years ago
After sixty year the industry from Argentina is not yet able to produce a aircraft like F7F.
A failure and a shame for that country
zimmermann10 2 years ago
ahá...of course.
Brasil haven´t failure and shame?
pff..
argentina is perfectly qualified for produce an aircraft...but:
- USA makes restrictions in sud america
- We had diferent and disgusting politics, after and before ´90
We have great engineers no doubt with that, how about Augusto Cicaré?...the 1° helicopter made ,integrally in Sud America (Argentina)
If you don´t know this, you´re a perfectly asshole.

The pilots from A4 ask for their command the urgent replacement of old cannons because they have problems, oft crashs!
Belive-me, the command didn`t do that, just some simples cannons and finnaly laucht the Argentines Pilots in cruel war completely degraded.

Forcing the old engine(R2800) to the top of rotation, to the top of power, can you undestand now?
How get pieces for fix the engine after?
Forcing the structure of a old aircraft with 4.5 G´s or more, undestand now what i am traying to say?

Look to the right and see my video titled
