I do not want to hear a version of this song with David Ruffin singing lead. He covered 'Smiling Faces, Sometimes', & it was horrible. Just like I don't want to hear a version of 'My Girl', with Paul, Eddie or Dennis singing lead. This was not David's song! I don't want to hear Teddy or Luther singing this either. Many GREAT vocalists have come & gone in Black music; David Ruffin was simply one of them. Perhaps he could have done more but he ruined himself. Afterwards, Dennis Edwards KICKED ASS!

It was well known that Paul Williams had a serious drinking problem by 1969, and that he blows a few of the steps (that HE helped choreograph) and misses a bit of his lip sync (in the end, not shown in this abbreviated clip) would indicate that he was very likely drunk, nevermind the perspiration.

There very well could be a version with David Ruffin singing lead on it. In the 80's and early 90's when David and Eddie toured together David sang lead on Temps songs that were released AFTER he was fired from the group.

Someone please, please post the whole video. The one that was on here previously, and has been removed, was the best! It was 1969, was the fast version like this, but they were on a stage. Each one stopped dancing during their solo, while the other fell into the dance steps. Spark anyone's memory? I am disappointed that it has been removed. Please somebody, put it back.
