Let's see, Disney Channel launches Hannah Montana and High School Musical in 2006. Then, they grow to such proportions that they get rid of a their cartoons and replace it with new teenybopper movies, shows, stars, and other things related. They even pull the plug on Toon Disney and replace it with a boys channel, Disney XD. Don't ask Disney Channel to put the classic Mickey shorts back on TV, they make too much money to care about fans of Disney in general.
This is really the highest expression of what Disney had in mind for Mickey Mouse. It's a breathtaking experience to view on a real movie screen (do it if you can!) - with the too-rarely seen 'authoritarian Mickey', the one who's struggling and more than a bit upset. In other words, it's the Mickey closest to the real Walt, which makes this one almost the same character as Oswald the Rabbit, to everyone's credit.
Conjuring up a tornado with music, and then continuing to play even while being swept away by it is surprisingly epic for early Disney. Excellent use of the classical piece!
Did you know this cartoon inspired the design of the new and improved Silly Symphony Swings ride at Disney's California Adventure park ?!
Let me tell you that that seems better than that old Orange Stinger ride; the giant orange peel was way too confining. Besides, that orange peel seemed more akin to Walt Disney World in Florida even though Disneyland was originally built on a California orange grove.
@TimmyToonLover i agree. i like this take on it better. i never understand why it was associated with an orange AND bees?? i understand ORANGE is for Orange County and the former Orange grove but bees in an orange? never heard of such a thing. i'm loving that DCA is incorporating the retro Disney look.
That former version had something called "foot chop" where your feet can get scraped by the inside of the orange peel. Still you'd lose your flip-flops less that way, but that's beside the point. That new design really does coincide with "Mickey's Fun Wheel" - a bit better than that giant sun, perhaps ?
Mickey needs to see a a tailor..that suit is just too big for him lol xD

I love the way orchestra members keep playing as they descend to stage at the end of the tornado. One even turns a page in mid-air. CLASSIC!

@TheAltair4 lol, this cartoon made me want to get sucked into a tornado as a kid o.O

This is a surprisingly realistic representation of a tornado, especially the way the houses are first unroofed and then the walls get sucked up.

The 1st official Mickey Mouse cartoon in color. Although it was the Parade of Award Nominees (1932) that was the cartoon. But it wasn't official.
