what is the diff between a monome and usual padcontrol, I'm assuming it beocmies like a drum machine where it goes through the steps? Is it easy to convert into one as I'm interested in getting one of these and would be cool to make it a monome if it was easy and not irreversible
I don't know about expensive.. PadKontrols are cheap. Even two doesn't cost as much as your average step sequencer, unless you're using an electribe.
The difference here is your imagination. Electribes are what they are, but the padkontrol can really be anything you want when used in native mode with a computer.
I'm wondering if there is a market for a padkontrol-based application that mimics the sequencer found in the octopus or nemo. Any replies most welcome, I will build one if there is.
So it has begun! I have been waiting a year nearly but I knew the kids would be coming up with as many unique ways to control Ableton as there are fingerprints. because Ableton is NOT turntables or even trying to be turntables, it has opened the door, through digital technology, for the ability to concentrate on the music more rather than worrying about keeping everything in sync ninety percent of the show. Now it's all about who has the grooviest controller. I love it!
awesome stuff man. very creative use of padkontrol you even tilt it in a different way.
you are using it like an oscillator as well. I am very interested to see what you did with your max patches.
and one question if you don't mind, how did you make the Padkontrol to turn the light on only when you touches the pad, like an on/off switch indicator, it's very useful but i don't know how to set-up that way on mine... if you could share that with me would be wonderful. thanks and good work!

both pads are the same...if you look closer you can see one is just rotated so the bottom lines up with the side of the other.

I don't understand the appeal of the monome interface. It makes for pretty lights, but boring music.

The one on your left... Is that a custom housing with new knobs and buttons, or an early model?
kaffeinsuchtiger 4 years ago
It's a custom job. He got in there with a Dremel drill and put in his own buttons.
