  • thanks sensei,, its really a good,, thanks

  • flowing water never grows stale

  • not bad but i think its much more effectful if you elbow him right in the face its wide open ;D

  • @12345678ix That's all well and good if you're planning to continue the fight (why?), but if you're just trying to take a shot to slow him down and then GTFO, a strike to the arm works a lot better.

  • Looks like the attacker is throwing "straight punch" across the body and at the hip. I'm sure it would hurt to have someone smack their elbow into your bicep but this is ridiculous- and doesn't work at all if your attacker punches you in the face rather than the hip.

  • @jakesilv This was a specific BASIC technique against a specific BASIC attack. A punch to the mid section.

A punch to the face in a DIFFERENT basic attack and a different basic techniques would be used.

  • @Deke101, My problem with the technique is that its just not based on something that occurs naturally in a fist fight. it's very difficult to block a punch thrown by someone with some basic boxing knowledge and a desire to actually hit you. I study martial arts and find Aikido to be sort of.. unrealistic. Have you seen anyone ever attempt this "straight punch to the abdomen" in real life, and then stand there waiting to be countered? The punch isn't even a proper body shot!

  • @jakesilv You are correct, sort of. I have studied and taught Aikido since 1991. This is only ONE way to deal with a generic fist coming straight toward the midsection. No, a dedicated punch is unlikely to come from a trained boxer. Short jabs are dealt with in a different manner, and yes, in AIkido, they are difficult to deal with because the attacker does not commit is entire body into the attack.

  • @jakesilv You must realize that Aikido did not evolve from street fighting. It came from old battlefield Jiu Jistsu. Boxing just did not happen on the batlefield and you usually had a sword in your hand. All Aikido techniques are the same weather you are holding a sword or not.

Lastly, this video does not depict an attack at real speed. It is what we call static, so that the student can see step by step what is happening.

  • @jakesilv We KNOW that static and basic attacks are not realistic. The point is to learn the techniques first, then learn to use them against real attacks. If you look at other Aikido techniques, you will see what I mean.

  • @Deke101 I totally understand the diff between technique training and sparring/rolling. I found my time spent learning BJJ the most rewarding because we would learn technique and then roll with full resistance, that way I knew I could actually use the techniques I'd learned. Does Aikido do anything like that? I would like to study Aiki-Jujutsu next, I'm currently looking for a good school in the Denver area.

  • @jakesilv All of Aikido techniques ARE performed the same at full speed. The difference is the speed of the attack. Also there is no resistance to Aikido techniques, because if Aikido is done properly, as soon as the intent of the attack changes, the technique changes to suit the attack. The technique you learn from the beginning is the one you use in real life. Know that these techniques are tools to learn underlying principles of motion, movement, control, breathing, balance, etc.

  • @jakesilv Aiki-Jitsu classes are very hard to find. Aikido has it's roots in Aiki-Jitsu and I believe the essence is well preserved in most Aikido classes except for the ones that concentrate on ki developement and more internal techniques. I have attended Aiki classes in Denver at the Nippon Kan. They even have an actual live-in student program and a beautiful dojo. If anyone knows about who trains in Aiki-Jitsu, they should.

  • i think i would elbow the face if i could.

  • Omg see that poor guy at the right xD

  • Und Solpapisolmook hat keine Ahnung!!! ^^

    Variation!

    Dann kann das durchaus funktionieren!

  • People on the street don't punch to the abdomen, they punch to the fucking face.

    LESSON: Aikido is useless.

  • ive seen people get stabbed in the belly. same thrusting movement i guess the same tech? what if someone is trying to grab your jeans? ive seen that happen in fact thats how i earth people. what if they are pulling a gun on the sneak...either way i think you are biased and need to fall back and regroup your thoughts about what street fighting is all about. take this from someone who has actually fought in the streets. if your talking down on this tech. i think you are a FAKE

  • I'm a fake. Good, so I'll continue training Krav Maga (real streetfighting, not the shit these clowns are doing), and you continue wearing a hakama skirt and training impractical nonsense and we'll see who survives a streetfight, you loser.

There's a reason that everyone who looks at Aikido laughs and says it's a bunch of bullshit. And what great conditioning! This sensei is a fatass, Seagal is a fatass, etc. Eat it!

  • i dont train aikido.

i dont care how hard you train and what you train; fighters are born not made. and "streetfighting" is a myth. you are thinking about fighting? im thinking about hurting, maiming, killing. personally lets see how well YOU fight when you are staring down the barrel of a gun or even simply getting your shin dug out with an instep kick you didnt see coming. you talk tough but the first thing you gotta fight is your fear. punkass suburbanite, tell that to 300 pds butterbean.

  • You don't train anything, you scared little suburbanite bitch. You live in your mother's basement, talking shit behind a computer.

  • thats funny you should say this cause this is the part that i tell you that....and you say something else dumb that makes you look even more like a shit talking coward. do me a favor and dont comment back. your wasting your time and mine.

  • Go fuck yourself

  • how old are you?

what lesson did you learn within the last five hours? not to talk shit about other styles, not to talk shit about what you dont know, and the most important thing ever when concerning the martial arts is that you never, never, ever underestimate.....well, anything really. be all inclusive so that in retro spect you dont make an ass out of yourself youngster. if your teacher isnt teaching you to see whats useful then you need to fire his ass and get better instruction.

  • Actually, I enjoy watching you post ranting and raving long responses to my abuse of you.

I'm glad I made you so angry. Eat shit!

  • im ranting and raving? your abusing me? youre delusional arent you. oh, i get it your trying to save face. oh, okay im angry. im mad as hell. damn you....damn you for making me mad. i hate you for making me rant and rave.....mmmkay?

  • See? There you go again!

    Too easy!

  • wrong, they are made,i wasnt born a fighter(definately not)but after i started training i found enough self confidence to punch a guy's eye open without having no feelings for him, because my father tought me this:

why have feelings for him if he doesnt have any for you,and that has worked very well so far

  • you dont understand me. what you said was fine and all but, heart comes naturally my friend. fighting is not what you think. its not hate or disdain for your enemy, its not even the ability to execute. its genetics, i like the violence and always have, i like the pain, i like the contact, you know that feeling you get in your chest and stomach yeah?, i LIKE THAT SHIT. i eat that up. i do things so i can FEEL IT. i have to control it and remember to show my enemy only a little love.

  • actually i do,i didnt like that feeling but now i do,it makes me feel invinceble, like none can touch me,it feels good, but thats what i mean,i was made...

  • no, it was always a part of you. your father just brought the beast up out of you. yet in all, the whole thing about aikido ( from that which i read ) its about controlling it so you dont hurt yourself or others. a mad dog is a mad dog, brutal violent and stupid...im a man and a spiritual being. i need that inner peace that center. so that i can make use of my chi. its made me a superior fighter and aware practition. i see 360 in a crowd no tunnel vision assc. with fight or flight. understand

  • Well, in Aikido at least the headline is "friendship".

The attacker is about to do something he would be regretting. So try stopping him fast and effective so that no one gets seriously hurt.

Of course you COULD use one or two techniques to be a little sadist, but a proper sensei would kick you out of his class the second he has a bad feeling about you.

  • @solpapisolmook

I wouldnt say its useless. Its practiced in a cooperative atmosphere. It can be very effective, if they would train from the outset with real attacks. Karate and aikido both suffer from an overcooperative training system.

  • @DavisWebb100 Right, but Aikido never trains with real attacks, thus it's useless.

  • @solpapisolmook hey bro u are probably not trainig aikido so you know nothing about it, if aikido never trains with real atacks it will not be a martial art, especialy in my dojo we allways use real atacks so we can know how to deal with some atackers on the street.

  • @solpapisolmook You don't "train" with real attacks in Aikido for the same reason that the military doesn't use live rounds instead of blanks for MILES training...

  • @solpapisolmook Sorry but Aikido DOES train with real attacks, using gloves, protectors, etc. The "unreal" attacks (which in fact are unreal) are just to train the way you move your feet, balance, relexes, etc. But after some years of training, the aikidoka reaches an average understanding of those things, and then the "unreal" attacks stop to let the real combat applications training start, including all kind of attack or defence issues, from kicks to punches of all kinds, guns, etc.

  • @lucianoestivill And if an aikidoka should find himself needing to use self-defense skills before the "real combat applications training starts," what then?

  • @solpapisolmook To use self defense skills, it's better to try to learn something in a self-defense school or something like that, but not Karate, Aikido, or Judo. Martial Arts like those need some more time to learn how to apply techniques and tricks properly. In Aikido or Karate we learn quickly how to destroy an elbow, grab a hand with a knife, asphyxiate an aggressor, or punch him, and we can certainly say you have some real self-defense tricks. But we can't say that's Karatedo or Aikido.

  • Comment removed

  • @lucianoestivill Something about that doesn't make so much sense. You either live in a warzone, or are lying if you're getting into that many life or death street fights during your Aikido beginnings.

  • Comment removed

  • @lucianoestivill We were talking about the time it takes to get from beginner level to the advanced level, like you mentioned. It took you 30 years to bridge that gap in Aikido? Are you disabled?

  • @DavisWebb100 Hey,thankyou so much finally someone who understands.Karate and Aikido do suffer in the way that its trained in most dojos, however if practised in the right situation they have a lot to offer.Too many dojos are blinkered during training street confrontation has changed so the way we train must be adapted to suit.I think some people watching this think this is a self defence vid its not,Its to show the basic technique, the mechanics of ikkyo.

  • leave me alone leave me alone! wah pow! xD

  • Nice job, and as a bonus it is a direct set up for kaiten nage. Note the position of nage at the end. I'll have one kaiten nage to go, please !

  • @shihonage Correct, a Kaitenage could be a good choice. An Iriminage Ura could be another way as well. And what about, after the atemi, turning left to position yourself side by side and then turning right to execute a Kotegaeshi?

  • Solid .I love this techniques

  • his technique is more effective, but i'd have a hard time not sliding my fist up his arm and backhanding him on the side of the head

  • I whould go with the elbow to the face.

  • He is giving some love, you are giving loads of love.

  • That's against the spirit of the art. Could just as easily go to the throat and cause serious damage. It's all in who is practicing it. Better to discourage than to cripple or kill, especially when you're speaking to law enforcement or a lawyer later.

  • @GoodManInCNY

    Well put.

  • Yes, that is my kind of atemi.
