  • how much initial timing did you use when firing it up for the first time, what kind and size carb is that? and how much timing did you guys end up giving it before switching to all the go faster parts?

  • Where did you learn to do all this stuff?!

  • Those heads look phenomenal after you got done.

  • that's what you call "ported & polished" 4 sure...

  • please answer this question

    i have a 1980 mustang with a 460

the problem is that the block was a 1973 block and ford decided for emmisions reason to add bumps to the ports is it worth porting them or to just by a new set of heads the car runs ok but another weird thing im haveing is this green mold build up in the distributor its an msd distributor my car runs but dosent sun how a 460 is suppsed to run if that makes any sense

  • I can see why Ford went to the modular Triton engines. The resonance is much less, and the engines are smoother running. But are they better?

Why were the AIR injection ports removed?

  • question 1) How long did it take you to port your heads?

    2) where did you buy your abrasives from to port the heads?

    3) where did you buy the HEI distributor?

if you could get me that info i would really appreciate it.

I have a running/driving 460/C6 driveline in a 1986 E-350 Ambulance and I want to do a reasonable build in it and stick it in my 1968 Galaxie.

I have spent enuff money on my 390 and picked up the ambulance for cheap, the guy even delivered it. its got 82,000 miles pd 700

  • @bigorangetrucker About 20 hours were spent machining, porting and polishing. The work was done in a tool and die shop where the porting tools were available. Try Traverse Tool Supply. The HEI distributor was purchased new on E-Bay. If your '86 motor is carburated the heads should be the same as these and they can benefit from extensive porting to the exhaust ports. Check out Les Morris' channel (bigblockmustang). He has a Fox Mustang running 9sec with these heads. Thanks for watching!

  • what happened with the trick flow heads from part one?

  • @cheeverracing89 The Trick Flow heads are going on the new engine that is being built. The engine in this video has been sold and will be replaced by a higher horsepower race-only engine. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks for watching!

  • cool build good work.

  • are the d3's (or any other head then c8's and d0's) worth the effort when porting? I was thinking about taking a crack at a set and if they came out good shave em'. . . my old man has a 429 shortblock but no heads. where do you find the most gains with these heads?

  • @seatun The exhaust ports are restricted by the air injector system. The early heads or the truck heads have no holes but the castings are the same, just solid. They can be ported without having to plug the holes. Big gains can be made by porting the exhaust ports and minor porting to the intake ports. Les Morris (bigblockmustang) runs 9sec at 134mph with these heads.

  • @jrsn2cars ah, btw I thought Les had d0ve's? anyways, quick walk around the "pick and pay" I found a set of d3's , i figure at $30 a pop and with help from the interwebz i'll try this route (if anything it will keep my hands busy) hell if worse comes to worse there is still the option to slap some dome pistons in it (which I think the old mans short block already has) and still have healthy compression

  • Cool.. You can pull a Air Injector plug at the end of the head and just stick a Metal rod in the hole to plug off the passage. Has to go from one end to the other. Then just replace the end plug.. On the DOVE heads the "Truck Heads" don't have air injector holes.. Funny the sound of a Ford engine.. You can hear the difference in my videos when I'm up against a Chebbie.. Thanks for the vid!
