Opening trade is not bad, but the problem is the fact that most businesses are willing to flee across the border to slide past labor laws to aquire a workforce of slave labor. NAFTA was put in place to provide Mexico with the same benefits Americans enjoyed: labor unions, high wages, etc. Instead it lead to US companies hopping the fence and dropping US employees. GM is now the largest private employer in Mexico, and the Malibu the best "North American" car.

I am not one to argue that out-sourcing is a grand idea, mainly for the reasons you stated. The economic benefit of out-sourcing was not balanced with the intention of helping Mexico to develop. Fair Trade is an important concept, because of the disparity in economic states of the respective countries and the social working environments, the possibility for exploitation is opened up. Unfortunately, businesses tend look out for #1 and there are not always counterbalancing forces (as some dogmatically believe). Another thing I think is important, increased education on both sides of the border would help reduce both exploitation and open up job opportunities.

You know, NAFTA was never actually passed to begin with. The Senate fell well short of the 2/3 vote necessary to pass the treaty. Instead of it being treated like the treaty it is, it was treated as just a regular piece of legislation. The Constitution requires a 2/3 majority vote in the Senate for all treaties.
I believe the Supreme Court would strike NAFTA down because it's so clearly unconstitutional.

The only way I support this policy is if they really will go through merging all three countries into having the same currency in the future to compete with the Euro and China, and if they will instill taxes again on foreign imports once the dollar regains its strength. I couldnt even find mexicos, but data eludes it around 1/4 of the above.

Opening trade is not bad, but the problem is the fact that most businesses are willing to flee across the border to slide past labor laws to aquire a workforce of slave labor. NAFTA was put in place to provide Mexico with the same benefits Americans enjoyed: labor unions, high wages, etc. Instead it lead to US companies hopping the fence and dropping US employees. GM is now the largest private employer in Mexico, and the Malibu the best "North American" car.

I am not one to argue that out-sourcing is a grand idea, mainly for the reasons you stated. The economic benefit of out-sourcing was not balanced with the intention of helping Mexico to develop. I agree that NAFTA is poorly executed, but I think the idea is excellent. It's not about the highway, it's about archaic nationalism; developed neighbors are better neighbors.

Fair Trade is an important concept, because of the disparity in economic states of the respective countries and the social working environments, the possibility for exploitation is opened up. Unfortunately, businesses tend look out for #1 and there are not always counterbalancing forces (as some dogmatically believe). Another thing I think is important, increased education on both sides of the border would help reduce both exploitation and open up job opportunities.

And NOBODY is mentioning what a main goal and purpose is in making the port in Mexico the MAIN port. It will circumvent our country's union workers and all the other people involved. No teamsters to deal with. Do you masses of people who are calling others 'consp. theorists' and 'tin foil hat' wearers understand the implications of such a plan.

There are expansions to existing highways that conspiracy theorists are claiming is part of some sovereignty-overriding super highway that will connect Mexico to Canada while circumventing American laws. You don't know the history of your country, do you? When they started building federal (interstate) highways in America there was revolt after revolt. Because the American citzens KNEW the makings of a BIG CENTRALIZED gov't dehumanized individuals. They are without question circumventing American laws to do this. If you don't understand how the Trans Texas corridor & the NAFTA Highway are the same, I suggest you pick up a law book.

You know, NAFTA was never actually passed to begin with. The Senate fell well short of the 2/3 vote necessary to pass the treaty. Instead of it being treated like the treaty it is, it was treated as just a regular piece of legislation. The Constitution requires a 2/3 majority vote in the Senate for all treaties.
I believe the Supreme Court would strike NAFTA down because it's so clearly unconstitutional.

One business tycon bought an old abundant mine in Ontario-Canada, He secured contract for disposal of garbage disposal.For some reason the disposal site became a dispute. The investor claimed of damages well above the contractual amount. City government is unable to deny claim due to NAFTA protection.
