I like those monitors in the cockpit with the tiny readouts on them. Feels more like a real flightsimulator and not like a game with the HUD stuck on your screen, like X-Wing Alliance...

@Lestat21500 Well, Evochron is a space sanbox game like X series. But you only command one ship. The great part of this game is all the space are generated procedurally. You can land/fly on planets at any moment in real time. And if you love simulation, you can be in love with this game.
Just try the demo if you are not sure if you really want it.
But, if you can't have both game (Evochron: Mercenaries and the next X). So, i recommend you to wait the release of X: Rebirth.

Evochron sucks balls. While technically, there is a lot to like, like BC3K every patch seems to break more things. Also, worst of all, the gameplay is atrocious. All NPCs are basically randomly generated and all of the sudden 15 hostile NPCs can spawn and blow you up. WORST part, it costs shitloads of money to buy the BEST stuff. Once you have the BEST stuff, all the NPCS also see to have the best stuff. So there is no point spending time getting powerful stuff. AI is leveled up with you.
@myster1234 In my game profile, I have all of the best equipment you can get in the game, all of the best systems and boosts to shields/power all of that. Yet, some faggot NPC in a noob ship can blow me apart after several hits. You can't dodge anything because the flight model doesn't allow for actual dogfighting. Also, auto-targeting enables ships to auto-blast anyone which makes being a good marksman pointless. Your best bet is to mash the buttons to blow them up first with a prayer.

@UniqueFrank Universal Combat sucks. You spend most of the time wondering "How the fuck did some intruder suddenly appear on my ship and steal my shuttles?" They rename it: "Universal Shuttle Recovery Super Intruder Combat". Also, the game randomly crashed about as much as the NPC ships randomly spawned and randomly attacked random shit. You're better off playing Battlecruiser Millenium. Has less graphical glitz but is 10x more stable and gameplay is better.
@myster1234 true but that because you cant understand the basic of ship defence... it take me days to get it right... after this if you get attack your troops take them down in a min without any problem... what you need to do is 1# turn launch power off when not use 2# arm and ready your troops ( having weapons is useless if you dont have enough ammo) 3# be aware of warning sign such as "thers someting outhere" witch mean a posible ship is stealth and near 4# most important!!! guard the jail...

Perhaps you use some deprecated/low-end monitor. Not all monitor have the same qualities and cons.
Yes all game makers go out of their way to add a gamma control for no reason at all. They arent very busy and get bored so they spend all that time to add all the code because everybody has the same systems and video cards and there should be no reason for it.

It is a shame this game has no gamma control or advanced graphics options like every other game out there. The game is so dark it is unplayable, jumping back and forth from your video card drivers settings panel trying to tweak it is unacceptable especially when the game crashes when you try to go back into it from changing your card settings.
what pisses me off about this game is the scale factor....
im mean, planets look huge!! but the when you enter the atmosphere, you can see thst its not so big, for example, you can see the curviture of the planet that supposedly was so Big
@OGOLDskoolX There have been a lot of discussions in the game forum about planet sizes. Although planets might seem a liitle bit small, it's okay for me. Realism is one thing - but your Computer must be able to handle it: All the planets here are rendered in-game - and the bigger they are, the higher are the system requirements for this game.
And as far as I know the developer's aim was also to keep the system requirements low so everybody can enjoy this masterpiece :)
I custom made every planetary ring in photoshop, changed a few cockpits, and edited the monn textures.
And the gameplay is awesome, tough I lack the diversity X3 has...there arent so many npc-s, a very few stations.And Im talkin about a fully modded X3 with a main Total Conversion, and over a 100 scripts. Tough the plates, the ability to land on them made be buy this, and uninstall X3. :)
@JasonPayne607 Same here, same here. It will happen soon. We have Infinity in development which I would say has another 2 years max until its released. That has 200 billion procedurally generated, each solar system with planets to land on and explore. It's going to be a dream come true. As for game with many galaxies. That's quite far off, and in fact, unnecessary, since 200 billion stars in one galaxy is more than enough for several lifetimes. Focus on variety and detail instead with that.
Loving this game, kinda found a bit of an exploit however... It is to do with turning assistance mode off and having no speed threshold ;p
