They were all friends under Tito. After Titio died and Communism started falling apart, it was replaced by Nationalism in all the Yugoslav republics. Milosevik was no friend of anyone. He just exploited the hate the serbs/croats/bosniaks/etc had for one another to make himself more powerful.
